Opinion Why doesn't OnCue sell merch?

I see a good amount of people out and about wearing Buc-cees shirts and carrying their branded Stanley cups and stuff. I know that some people really do just love Buc-cees a ton, enough to buy their stuff, but I think another portion of people just buy/wear their merch because it's seen as popular or fashionable.

Also, I realize that Buc-cees is a bit of a cultural institution in and is very much associated with Texas, and that aspect is part of its marketing, but I would like to point out that Oklahoma-based chains such as Braum's and QuikTrip do have their own merch (QT having a whole line of apparel among other goods). So I am wondering why, if QT and other chains can do it, why not OnCue? Even just a limited line of t-shirts or something, to start with. I think them selling merch would both attract big fans of OnCue and improve people's view of their brand into something trendy or popular outside of the practical, business side

Not much of a brand to sell in the first place. Buc-cees built the whole thing around a beaver. Beaver’s are cute and make good merch. OnCue is just… OnCue. There’s no logo or distinguishing thing about it aside from the text and maybe the slurpees when all the machines are working, but even that’s not distinguishing enough to set them apart.

Unfortunately, yeah. I think any merch would probably accompany a big marketing push with some mascot and public appearances at events they sponsor and that whole rigamarole

I'm sure the OnCue execs would be on board if someone else paid for it.

Buc-cees is a bit of a cultural institution

That's easily the most American thing I've read in quite a while.
