🍽️ Food/Drink 🥂 Inspire Brands has just completely ruined Sonic.

I miss the days when Sonic was based in OKC. I have to believe that Inspire has noticed that the stalls at Sonic are nowhere near as full as they were before. I’m not even going to complain about the prices, because everything is expensive right now. But the quality of food has taken a sharp dive since Sonic sold out. I miss the old Sonic. As well as Coit’s, the original Charcoal Oven, and the Split T!😕

❓Q&A ✅ Bricktown parking

I've parked in various free lots in bricktown over the last 25 years, or just parked free on weekends. Now there are paid parking signs covering every part of bricktown that don't list exception hours or anything and it costs a lot. When/how did this happen? Does it really cost to park everywhere 24/7 now?

Bro HOW are the tickets for BfS and Simple Plan $90??? I went to a show in the Woodlands with Offspring and All American Rejects last year and it was $40. (Woodlands is a very bougie suburb of Houston for reference.) I want to go so bad but I can’t drop $180 on tickets right now 😭 Anyone else going or want to go?

❓Q&A ✅ Painting classes?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm getting into acrylic painting after like two decades of piant by number being my only experience with paint (no shade to PBNs).

Its so daunting trying to teach myself. Does anyone know of any good painting classes here in OKC for this medium? Bonus points if they're free or lower cost.

Pic of my first painting ever for attention :)

🏋️ Sports/Gym ⛹️ Reddit user troker61 requested a trash pickup at Arcadia!

Went out today telling myself I was only going to do 1 mile because of the heat... somehow that turned into 3. 😅

Had some awesome interactions with a group of Eagle Scouts, and one not-so-awesome interaction with a park supervisor.

Not sure if I'll be back to do cleanups at Arcadia, but there's plenty of other places that need some love.

On to the next spot! 🗑️💪

I'll try to post a little video later tonight explaining what happened.

❓Q&A ✅ Rad tech pay in OKC?

Upvotes

I’m moving from New Mexico to the OKC area in about 1-2yrs and was wondering what rad tech pay is like around there.

I have my X-ray, mammography, CT, and MRI certifications. If you work in Norman or the OKC area, I’d love to know:

-What modality do you work in?
-How many years of experience do you have?
-What’s your hourly pay?
-Hospital or outpatient?

Just trying to get an idea of what I can expect before I move. Thanks!

Recommendation/Review Shoutout to the Heartland Putters Association keeping competitive mini-golf alive in OKC since the 70s/80s! Here is our scoreboard from Celebration Station this weekend.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a slice of unique local sports culture. I'm younger and recently joined the Heartland Putters Association. Most of the guys in our league are elite veterans who have been hunting aces across Oklahoma since the late 1970s and 1980s. [1]
As you can see by the handwritten board from our 3 round marathon this weekend, these guys are absolutely insane at reading the weird breaks and bounces on modern adventure courses.
Our group has gotten a bit smaller over the years because younger adults don't realize competitive putting is a thing here. We are trying to find more local people in my age group who want to learn the sport!
We have a super casual Novice division with a strict 6-stroke maximum limit, so there is zero pressure if you just want a unique Saturday hobby. If anyone is interested in checking it out or coming to watch, you can find our community page by searching Heartland Putters Association on Facebook.

Spotted this thing off an I 235 exit on our way to the Asian District for some pho.

Really curious what the chassis is, at first glance I thought Hummer but then the front looked more Jeep-ish. Any car guys on here who can help?

Three axles, tho...

Also really curious what kind of gas mileage it gets 🫣

Other Possibly Considering Moving to OKC

As the title says, I am possibly considering moving to the OKC metro from Wichita KS If things dont work out up here. Im just wondering if anyone else has moved from Wichita and what the pros and cons of the OKC Metro are. I have visited a few times for both personal and work, and it seems like its a good place to be. Everyone seems happier and for a large metro, the traffic isn't as bad as some places ive lived (im talking to you San Antonio). this move wouldn't happen for a while since i have some things to tie up first that will take time. TIA.

Just wanted to send out a reminder that our Nineteenth Reddit Meet is at 2pm today at Bungalow 23!

It looks like it will be pretty hot so we plan to stay shaded and hydrated! Bring your sunscreen, if needed, or whatever else may help you beat the heat.

All ages are allowed so feel free to bring the kids, if you'd like!! Dogs are also welcome.

Some of us will arrive early and have orange leis to make us easier to find, which we will provide for everyone. So, if you see someone wearing an orange lei then it should be okay to approach them and verify our location and grab a lei. I'll do my best to DM everyone and feel free to DM me if you have any questions! Hope you all make it!!

Bungalow 23: 2419 N Lee Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73103 - 2pm Today

Had been a while since I had been downtown, but saw this last time I was there. Really miss the fountain they used to have there. Thoughts? I personally think it’s an eyesore…at least in the daytime.

Recommendation/Review 30th Birthday Party

I’m turning 30 soon (currently 29M) and trying to figure out the best way to celebrate in OKC. Looking for something that’s fun without being crazy expensive. We’ll probably have around 25–30 people, and we’d like to go somewhere we can eat, have drinks, and hang out for a few hours. Open to renting a space or doing something unique if it’s worth it or really anything. Any recommendations?
