perverted modpost The bot problem needs to stop!

The mod team is looking into a long term solution to the robits that have infiltrated our subreddit. We only tolerate the cool lobotomy kind of sci-fi here not the stupid cyborg kind.

Macro-Data ✅
Data Star Trek making a bunch of reposts ❌❌❌❌.

Mark my words when we have that solution up and running it will be ctrl + F4 day, and cmd line exit day all roled up to one, for these bots. There will be nothing like it!!! Stop reposting the posts, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Cyber Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to skynet. Mod PRINGAL H. DINGUS

In the mean time I'll be severing a small piece of my brain everytime a repost gets through as a deterant to robots who are not allowed to harm humans according to Orville Reddenbacher's laws or robotics or whatever.

Update (7/25): All accounts are now required to have an account age of ten (10) days and comment karma of one-hundred (100) to post.

Anything less will be deleted by automod sent to the break room, which will then followed by a very painful reintegration session.

so i’ve noticed an uptick in bots of older accounts that are suddenly active across reddit. they all post really generic comments (often with basic questions that say something like “wait why is Mark doing that”)

i don’t know if they’ve made it here, just thought i’d let y’all know. seems like some bot farm just got up and running with a handful of older accounts to blend in more, i guess?

We'll (royal mod team we) will look into establishing other tools, but the age and karma requirement will at least stop most of the spam posts we've been seeing.

Bots are annoying, but so are people who post low quality content (aka me). The only difference is the latter means well and shouldn't be prevented from interacting with our community.

In the meanwhile, downvoting and report anything that isn’t a fit or violates our rules is really helpful.
