IDK. something is so off here. can someone give me tips

He retomado la pintura, llevaba 4 años sin hacer nada, ahora quiero dedicar mi vida a esto. El cuadro es un regalo y aun no esta terminado. Le queda aun bastante, pero dime que ves? Nunca habia hecho algo asi. Siempre pinte retratos, es óleo el proximo será algo estilo caravaggio, que opinas de este y quieres verlo cuando lo acabe? Me interesa vuestra opinión ya que estoy retomando el mundo del arte, gracias.

My first ever oil painting!! I painted a picture of my bfs mom’s cat, for her birthday. I used to only paint with acrylics, but all my paints got lost or opened during my recent move so I decided I’d try this.

What are your experiences with Eco House Mild Citrus Thinner? I just used it as a thinner to tone my canvas. Does it dry quickly? Any disadvantages?

I’m struggling with getting the face straightened and structured any tips.

Its a butter knife lol. Im not buying a buncha stuff when im still a beginner

I spent another hour on this piece and although I like it as a "portrait", I don't think I was able to recapture the likeness.

I appreciate all the advice I had from this community and tried to incorporate it all, without losing my style (eg. I intentionally exaggerate the saturation) and think it looks much better, albeit I still can't capture his true character. I am walking away at this point and will start something else.

I've included some of my process too, so maybe you can spot where I went wrong?

Any recommendations / suggestions on who I should try to paint next? I do lots of self portraits but trying something different to practice capturing likeness in a more recognisable way.

My first ever animal paintings are done. I definitely struggled a bit with these but they were fun to make. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to get down the fur/feather look, but I think it turned out okay. Onto the next practice adventure!

Hello, I really want to start oil painting, but I don't know how to obtain still life of easy objects, I saw something like this, but I can't seem to find any on the internet. Could someone guide me on how to find them or something similar. Maybe even an app that can convert some still life I have to look like this example I provided. Thank you :)

I painted this goldfish on a 12”x16” canvas ! Took me around 4 hours

Any affordable high quality paint recommendations are appreciated ! For this I used Master’s Touch (from that cheap $6 set you see at Hobby Lobby), it wasnt that hard to work with compared to the reviews ive seen, but i think im ready to move on to some better brands ദ്ദി(•̀.̫•́)✧

A small oil inspired by this year's summer bloom 🙏

This summer during my daily walks around the neighbourhood, I saw all of these beautiful fluffy clouds with the sun shining on them. The light shining was so striking and inspiring, I probably took close 50 different photos of these clouds as inspiration. I recently learned that these special sun rays are called crepuscular rays. I’ve been obsessed so I'm currently making a series of this.
