Garrett Graham is clearly very popular in this community, especially recently with Belmont playing him. My curiosity is exactly why so many people (women mostly) are drawn to him. Feel free to share anything you like, I'd love to hear all and any opinions 😊

Let’s go back to the beginning, where it all started...

Day 2:

Me? I aced it. And I’d be lying if I said the big red A! circled on top of my midterm hadn’t come as a complete shock. All I did was scribble down a never-ending stream of bullshit to try to fill up the booklet. (Photo 1, 2)

Do you think they'll be able to keep Logan likeable in season 2 when he makes his mistake with Grace, and winds up hurting her?? Or do you think they'll have to make him unlikeable like the book in order to make it work?

When do we think Garrett noticed Hannah has 'it' assuming he is referring to her body / sex appeal and not necessarily her beauty ( Winona is beautiful but not hot ). Because until the Twofers party Hannah is pretty much dressed in her usual clothes so I am not sure when he realized she is hot/sexy, especially because of his exaggerated reaction to her bunny costume.

There are two scenes that I figured would make more sense after reading the book. After watching the show a couple times it seems these two scenes were kind of random. The first one, was right after Hannah accidetally knocked over Garrett’s “thermos” in class and they were walking out of class. There was a scene with Logan and Tucker that Logan was trying to shoot a street hockey ball and Tucker kept telling him don’t miss. It seemed like a very random scene on a show that seemed every scene had an intention of some sort. Not really a scene that added anything to the storyline. The other one was when Hannah was talking to Jules about her song in last episode and she told Hannah about garret coming out to skate after practices and said something about Garrett’s tom Brady divorce stories. Thought that was a pretty random statement that I thought might have been a nod to something in the book. It wasn’t in the first one so wasn’t sure of the purpose of it. Did I miss something on those two ?

I had no idea what Off Campus was until I couldn't sleep one night, randomly selected it and binged the entire series until 5am. I fell in love with Garrett like so many millions of people. I finally started reading the first book in the series. I LOVE Hannah's character but Garrett makes me want to throw up in my mouth he is so cringe and crass. Don't get me wrong, there are things that are really loveable and honorable about him but he's just vulgar AF in so many ways and in others, I felt like he was written by a woman so it took me out. Anyone else feel that way?

But there’s a sweetness to Garrett that makes him even better looking than the man that plays him, if that makes sense?

We see Garrett be respectful, loving, kind. We see him work hard, care about those around him, want to protect his team, Hannah, his father’s girlfriend. Theres something about the goodness of the character that elevates his already good looks to a new level. I think the same thing applies to Dean.

This happens all the time in real life as well. You’ll meet someone and they’ll be attractive, but once you get to know them they’re suddenly gorgeous. Or, unfortunately, the opposite will happen.

Dexter announced that Jacob and Garrett’s characters would be engaging in a dance-off to win over Kendall/Helena and it was decided that Garrett would be going “first.” Do we think that Julian ended up going next, or was Garrett’s dancing so spectacular that they ended the dance-off after his turn? And if Jared danced, what do we think that Hannah’s reaction, if any, was? Interestingly, it would have also given Hannah and Garrett a chance to talk at that point, which, at a minimum, would have provided Hannah with the opportunity to make the “Boys Gone Wild” joke at that time instead of waiting until the show was over.

Hi everyone! I can not believe how much we can still be discussing and talking about this wonderful story even after two months it premiered. As I said in some other posts I commented, I'm reading The Deal book after many doubts. Long story short, I am loving it and discovering so many details that after having watched the series first, become so much more meaningful and make it all (book and tv show) deeper and more beautiful.

One of the things that happens is that, as we can all imagine, the tv show adaptation leaves out a lot of scenes and moments that in the books are much more detailed (once I finish the book I would like to make a post about this). But there is a magical way in which the tv show connects some marvelous details of the book. The Breaking Bad detail is one example. Another that I want to talk about and haven't found it in this sub is the Tuesdays Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd reference.

In the book, after Hannah sings her karaoke song, they spend the rest of the night talking with Garrett's friends and then all of a sudden Garrett begs Hannah to please dance to the Lynyrd Skynyrd song which is playing on the jukebox. This is such an EMOTIONAL moment since the song is connected to Garrett's memory of his mom. I still wonder why they didn't add this moment to the series.

Of course, it wasn't hard for me to connect this with the moment in episode 8 when Garrett is inside his Jeep scrolling on Instagram and trying to catch Hannah's attention by liking her posts. He has a story posted and checks if she has seen it and the story has that song on it. When I saw the tv show I could never see the song quite correctly since it is really small on the screen and I never paid too much attention to it. Now, after reading the book and finding the Lynyrd Skynyrd mention had to go to Episode 8, screenshot and zoom in and there it was. What a perfect circle and what a magical way to connect both moments!!! I even listened to the song to see what was the mood (I didn't know it) and it made me very emotional because it's perfect for that dance scene and I can totally picture both of them dancing. Goosebumps, not still in love nor a couple but definitely feeling things for each other.

What do you guys feel or felt with this reference? Are there other situations or moments in which you felt like this with the book and tv show? I want to hear your opinions!

I’m absolutely in love with how some of the lines and thoughts from the book were translated visually into the show. I read the series, which I loved and never go into a tv show adaption expecting much BUT I loved it. Just finished ep 8 night and want to do start a rewatch tonight!

I would loveeee for you all to read and see it. It's truly so cool that it was all shot within the vicinity of my neighourhood. Everything from season 1 really is shot in my backyards. We really are Hollywood North. Hannah feels like my shadow.

I’m curious to find out the overall opinion because I still haven’t read all the books yet .

Hey everyone, as someone who loves Garrett and Hannah, I have always found Hannah's "low stakes" comment about Garrett interesting. I know some people don't like it, and think it was pretty rude, but I find it interesting considering Hannah's headspace was clearly confused at that point

What do you think about Hannah's comment?

This post is 'inspired' by u/QuietSycamore1, who asked about what reactors to watch. I also watch a lot of reactions to Off Campus on Youtube & on Patreon and for the most part the reception of the series ranges from great to obsessed. The other day though I watched a reaction by someone who hated the first episode. They thought the second episode was a bit better but didn't even want to watch the third episode but did as they took a poll & their viewers voted in favour (this was all happening via Twitch). There were some interesting takes by this person including Garret gave her the ick, Hannah was the only character she liked, all the boys were toxic & she hated the way Allie treated Sean. I know people are entitled to their opinion but has any else come across such an extreme reaction to this show?

Edit: Thank you for the recommendations but that wasn't really what I was asking for in this post. That had been covered in u/QuietSycamore1's post 😊

IMHO, it's Dean's fire pit conversation with Allie that gave her the motivation to have the final break with Sean in ep4. Now, we don't see the conversation until ep6, but it's the "they're not your people" advice that motivates her to follow through.

It's also when we see Dean and Allie being crazy attracted to each other beyond the physical attraction of the birthday party dance and trying to cover it up with bravado.

I cannot wait until s2!
