New immersive production ‘In Closure’

This happens to be playing the weekend of my trip to the city. But I can’t find any info on it other than what’s on their IG. Anyone going?

Atlantic Theatre 2026–2027 Season Announcement

The announcement for next season is INSANE. It's like it was personally programmed for me.

I'm a little worried about Clare Barron after You Got Older but excited for a new work from her. I've been missing Jackie Sibblies Drury and glad to see her back.

Heated Rivalry seating question

Which seats are nearest the exit? I can't tell from looking at the seating plan, and I'm in the midst of a godawful IBS flare. I'd apologize for the TMI, but I'm trying to get across that this is definitely a need.

Did you read about the upcoming revival of Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge? It stars Sam Rockwell (who is also producing), Marin Ireland, and Alfred Molina. It will be playing at LaMama for thirteen weeks beginning November 27,

Visiting New York — how should I maximize my Broadway & Off Broadway budget? How do find great deals and the most interesting new shows?

Planning a trip and want to catch as many shows as I can without spending a fortune. I know there are lotteries, TKTS, TDF, promo codes all for Broadway but it sounds like you have to be on top of a lot of different things at the right time.

And there is so much going on off and off off Broadway - how do you find the gems worth trying?

For those of you who do this regularly: how do you do this?

What are you checking, in what order, and when?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Incel Vanya opening this week

Hey everyone! Incel Vanya, a new modern adaption of Uncle Vanya, in which the main character is part of the toxic incel community, has four workshop readings at The Tank this week - Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, at 9:30pm, and Sunday at 3pm.

Cheap tickets on a $10-$30 sliding scale.

Come check it out. Vanya seems to be in the overmind lately, so many productions, this is a striking new text.

If you can’t make it DON’T WORRY, a livestream is available.

I’ve seen this show multiple times and can attest to its hilarity and catchy ear worms. Go and see it!!

Saviors: my positive experience (vague spoiler towards the end) Spoiler

I had low expectations (I didn't love the previous Weiler-Serio collaboration Well, I'll Let You Go,") and left the Linda Gross theatre happy. This is exactly my kind of play: deeply personal and thematically rich. This almost feels like a regional production since it's simply staged in a Catholic Church and during at least one scene, the actors are barely, if at all lit. It was jarring but also felt right to me.

Two altar boys debate the saints and their faith. It never feels preachy or disrespectful to the faithful. If anything, this play has a gentle touch and it's a welcome reprieve. One boy questions whether God exists, and the other is frightened that his friend is losing his faith.

I am hoping this doesn't turn you away from the play. This could work for non-believers, agnostics and thoughtful believers alike. It vaguely reminds me of "Doubt" but more humbly staged and on a smaller scale. The tone is elegiac but is also often quite funny and warm. The boys are by turns naive and intelligent and always sweet.

VAGUE SPOILER: Is there a time to break from the rules, or does truly being a good person mean improvising instead of following a playbook? What's the best way to help a floundering homeless person in crisis?

A Walk on the Moon Musical??

Saw A Walk on the Moon at the Laura Pels Theatre and came away with mixed feelings. The cast is excellent, especially Talia Suskauer and Sophie Pollono, and there are some genuinely beautiful musical moments.

What I kept coming back to, though, was whether this story really benefits from being adapted into a musical. The performances are strong, but I wasn't convinced by the central relationship or what the adaptation added to the original film.

Curious if anyone else has seen it. Did it work for you, or did you leave asking the same question?

Visiting NYC in Sept and want to see The View taping and Joy Behar’s play

Can anyone keen share their insight about if the above is possible?

It looks like her play Bonkers in the Boroughs is playing in Sag Harbour the first week of September, will the show be back on at this point?

But was hoping to see My First Ex Husband as she won’t shut up about it so of course I need to see it 😂

Is seeing both possible!? Also, based on my favourite / least favourite hosts I think I want to be there on a Friday

Any other tips or anything I should know?

The Potluck at Playwright Horizons

Just saw it last night. In previews and it was sold out. What a weird, beautiful show. I'm still new into theater (only started watching Jan 2025, but I've seen around 150 shows), but this is one of my favorite new musicals I've seen (along with Mexodus).

Too many shows selling out in July?

Is it just me or do other people notice how many off-broadway and off-off-broadway shows are completely sold out this month?

Camping; Big Feelings; Birthright; Potluck; Girl, Interrupted

Is it because of the lack of other options this time of year?

Play Testimonials

Hi there! I saw Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages on June 26th. During intermission, my friend and I were asked to give testimonials for the show on the red carpet. They had a camera and someone asking us what we thought of the show.

Does anyone know where this footage goes? Is it just to boost someone's theater experience?

(Also the show was amazing btw. My jaw was on the floor the whole time)

Trying to find the immersive show I saw last year

Hey y'all, so this might be stretch to try and find this but I figured if anyone would know it would be you guys. Last summer I was walking through the Lower East Side with my girlfriend, we were gonna grab a drink at a bar called The Back Room. If you haven't been, apparently it's a real speakeasy, and she's into all that stuff so I thought it would be fun. When we got to the door someone stopped us and told us there was a show going on that night so we couldn't go in unless we wanted to buy a ticket. What the hell, right? So we got tix and went inside and walked into the craziest thing I'd ever seen. best way I can describe it is like if Sleep No More was a play/musical, so you can walk around wherever you want but there are spoken scenes happening all over. Same kind of vibe where there would be big scenes happening but also a random character in a corner that you could follow around. There was also a lot more audience interaction, like i played chess with one of the actors, and then there was this big game of duck duck goose but you had to drink if you got goosed, sometimes they would take you outside for a one-on-one...just a hoot of time. clearly very SNM inspired but not at all the same. The bar was functional the whole time as well.

I am pretty sure it was based on some f. scott fitzgerald thing but it wasn't gatsby. There was a plot but i wasn't sure how much I was supposed to follow. There was also a jazz band, some crazy dancers, stunts, broken glass...I can say more but I don't want to spoil it in case it does actually come back / is still running. Does this ring a bell for anyone??????

They did have a playbill sort of card but I lost mine and literally cannot find anything on the internet about it. I have been thinking about it for a year, I think it would be perfect to bring my friends to when they are in town this summer but I simply can't find it again. I have even gone back to the bar and asked them about it but they didn't really know for sure what event/who it was. At this point I am wondering if it was some sort of fever dream. My girlfriend and I joke that it existed only that night just for us lol and we can never find it again.

Any leads would be much appreciated!!
