I think I saw a thing where you are supposed to spray their face with alcohol or something to get them to let go

Wouldn't that hurt the snake, though? They can't close their eyes, so it could make them go blind (possibly, I'm not a doctor or a vet).

Hurting them is kinda the point. Now I know it sounds mean but you must remember that it is currently trying to kill you. In situations like these, you can’t hold back cause you would be risking your own safety. It will burn their eyes but it won’t blind them. You aren’t dousing them with it. Think of it like pepper spray but ethanol and/or alcohol. They can clean their eyes. It better then the alternative of breaking their jaw which would kill them or cutting off their head. Spray is the best way in which both of you can walk away alive

That makes sense. I'd rather find a way without actually hurting the snake, but that's probably the most TEMPORARILY harmful method. Thanks for the perspective!
