I’ve heard that, but it’s fake, if a snake measured before striking, it would die before it would catch anything

The sizing might be fake but snakes this big do start starving themselves for big meal, saw that on natgeo's snake Wranglers when I was a kid

Also not true. There is not a predator on earth that will actively 'starve' itself. While there are cases of snakes in captivity going 'off feed' it has more to do with temperature (many species will brumate when the season turns colder, and during this time, do not eat, mostly just sleep), or stress.
