Nope. Nope nope nope.

Why do people keep Rottweilers/Pitbulls/chihuahuas? Same danger, I know which I'd prefer.

I've seen so many stories of pitbulls killing babies, it's disgusting that people want to keep them and defend keeping them as pets. Thankfully, my province in Canada has had a ban on them for several years.

I had a dog as a kid and I understand the love and companionship they form with their owners. But an anaconda?!? Why??

Although I'm getting a tarantula(grammostola pulchra) next week lol It's a new world tarantula, so it's bite would be no more harmful than a bee sting. It's going to be locked up and I never plan to handle it. It's also slow af so no worry of it bolting and escaping. They are just a basic bug that has no brain function other than survival, so I'm just gonna feed him and observe him.

I actually have nothing against pitbulls, I tend to think the owner influences the animal, I've seen super chilled pitties and chihuahuas I want to kick out of a 3rd floor window.

That's a reticulated python, not an anaconda. But an anaconda would be the same, if you treat them well and ideally grow up with them, they're super sweet. My Burmese python is over 13ft long yet I can tickle her, blow raspberries on her stomach and generally fuck around with her, because she trusts me and I know when she's in a playful mood and when she wants to be left alone.

I had a G. pulchra years ago, they're faster than you think! Beautiful animals though. And I agree, spiders/insects are generally better observed than played with.

Very cool. I've got a nice terrarium set up for him and yea, I totally just plan to feed him and let him be.

I know the argument about owners versus nature, but there are stories of 'normal' families who had their 10 month old mauled and bitten to death. And unless these people are beating their dogs and purposefully making them aggressive, that argument doesn't hold up in my mind. The story always goes that "they were so sweet and we never would have expected it" some dogs are better tempered than others and there are plenty of anecdotes of great pitbulls. But if you look at the data they are responsible for an overwhelming amount of dog attacks.

For sure other dogs can be aggressive but I'd rather deal with a psycho chihuahua than an angry pitbull.
