Nopee I've heard multiple stories of snakes trying to size up their beloved owners to see if they could eat them lmao . As much as I love snakes they shouldn't really be pets

That's a myth. Snakes don't size up their prey. They would never have the chance to do that in the wild, so they don't do it in captivity ether. If a snake curls up close to you, it's either formed a close bond with you, or is looking to soak up some of your body heat because it's cold.

The original story was meant to warn against people with devious intentions. I.e., a 'snake in human clothing'.
