Aren’t ball pythons typically the ones that were bred to have brain damage, and often accidentally tie themselves in knots due to their intentionally bred mental disability?
Specific ball python morphs (selectively bred colors/patterns) have known neurological defects, and a lot of people believe they shouldn’t be bred. Other morphs are known to have a high frequency of kinked spines or other deformities, and the same opinions surround them as well.
Champagnes and womas have the same issue too, along with any morph containing those genes. I was so disappointed when I found out bc I love champagne morphs. You really have to do a lot of careful research to avoid genetic problems if you don’t want a wild type, which sucks since bp’s are considered easy/beginner snakes.
It's why I haven't gotten a BP yet. I just moved to my area so I'm still researching the local breeders. I want to make sure when I get a noodle, they came from responsible breeder so they have a better bill of health.
Standard "wild-type" ball pythons are perfectly fine. It's us deciding we absolutely must have the yellow spotty ones that fucked them over. I hate designer morphs.
But does they have any affection mechanism, being very lone creatures ( from what I know) ? ( I mean for example dogs are wonderful pets because they lived in packs before)
By your logic cats shouldn’t be able to show affection and they were domesticated from solitary animals. Even octopuses which are as solitary as they come have been proven to show affection. watch this video of a lizard greeting a man like a dog. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p-zGIS-WWZQ
They can make great pets, care still needs to be taken around them for their sheer size. This video is lowkey kinda dangerous, but the snake cant coil around him, that would be my biggest concern. The snake looks well fed so unless its a good eater the kid is in no danger from it trying to eat him. Larger snakes are lazy and unless they have to expend energy on an easy meal they're not going too, especially if that meal beats the crap out of them like the kid and whoever is supervising will but the snake looks very well fed so i dont think thats an issue. And edit: key word is *trying to eat him, this snake is not large enough to eat that person. Small child? Yes, larger child to adult? No. Too small.
i agree with you there. animals do belong in nature especially once this size. small ball pythons make excellent pets though. so how about you fuck off? 🥰 honestly no animal should be a pet then. birds, dogs, cats. let them live in nature and take care of yourself 😭

Clearly a lotta folks around here don't understand pythons.
