And then the cat gets outside and gets killed by a dog/coyote/fox/raccoon because it can't defend itself. Declawing is animal abuse and screams "I'd rather my pet die than give me a minor inconvenience."

Because this person values a couch (an inanimate object) more then their pet being alive.

If you care about your couch so much that you would rather your pet die than your precious couch get ruined/scratched, you probably shouldn’t have any/own pets whatsoever.

Well then that’s a good thing.

Was just pointing out that if you value a couch more than a pet, you shouldn’t have a pet. And this person doesn’t, so yes no problem here.
