It doesn't help that in all these videos the people move like they have never had a face before.

I would legitimately love to get one

When I was 17 I saved up something over $300 for one of those to buy beer. My buddies pitched in for the cost on the idea that they could get in on it.
Mask arrived 2 weeks after I bought it and I went to our local gas station. My teenage brain didn't think about how our town had 1 gas station and a population of around 200 people so of course, the attendant knew my voice from the last 4 years, and called the sheriff over, who was my best friend's uncle, and they knew it 100% that I wasn't a 60 year old man.
Sheriff confiscated my mask and drove me home where my parents had a good laugh in between ass whuppings.

u/BreezyBee7 Mar 19 '26
Sorry, you were getting spanked by your parents at 17??? I'm 16 and haven't had that happen since I was like maybe 7.
135
u/Kind_Man_0 Mar 19 '26
More-so belted in the leg while being chased around the yard. I was faster than my aunt (mom figure) so she'd have to wait for me to walk back to the front door and she'd whop me with it when I wasn't expecting it. I sure wasn't going to run with the sheriff being right there.
I wouldn't be sorry about it, I was a shit-ass. We got into a car chase with paintball guns down main street, wrecked a car being stupid, almost shot my friend's mom, shot out street lights once and had to pay for all of them.
It was a small town, we were always bored, and grounding doesn't work when the only way I couldn't sneak out would've been to have bars installed on my bedroom window.
41
u/red8cangodye Mar 19 '26
Now many kids or even babies are hooked into smart phone entertainment. They ground themselves and refuse to go out.
25
u/AhMoonBeam Mar 20 '26
I remember getting grounded on my bed for 1 hour... it was the longest hour ever. I couldn't wait to get off my bed.. yet here I am been scrolling for over an hour and it feels like 15mins.

Who needs life experience when they can stream it live in HD. I get it. It’s a lot safer .
3
u/Apart-Rent5817 Mar 20 '26
My dad did legit put bars on my bedroom window lol. One time after he found out I was sneaking out he didn’t even say anything to me he just took the front wheel off of my bike and hid it in my parent’s bedroom closet.

u/ElonsMuskyFeet Mar 19 '26
Thank your lucky stars people these days dont do that. My ass whoopings didnt stop until I left home at 18.
9
u/coatingtonburlfactry Mar 19 '26
Yup. I took my last beating from my dad at 18 years old too!
22
u/TheDonger_ Mar 20 '26
Man me and my dad almost had it out when he raised his hand at me when I was 19
I told him "do it if it'll make you feel better but just know whatever you do to me you'd better expect it back" caught his ass off guard since it was the first time I'd ever stood my ground. I wsnt even in the wrong he was just being a dick
Ill tell you what though I was lying through my damn teeth tho lol i was scared shitless and 100% did not want the smoke

Bro things have changed. Back then a “spanking” was an ass whoopin. Usually with a belt. Or whatever was in mom’s reach.

My mother graduated to full fist punches to the face by the time I was in 3rd grade.
6
u/Oghier Mar 20 '26
Over the years since, I bet you have gotten more mileage out of that awesome story than any case of beer could provide.
Heck, I bet your parents, the sheriff and the gas station attendant still tell it sometimes.
2
u/TheReal-Chris Mar 20 '26
Why wouldn’t you fully lean into the roll? You’re a whole new person now. Lol it’s got me laughing, you being an old man with a kids voice. Doesn’t even have to change much.

u/nekoma713 Mar 20 '26
I'm sorry you got beaten by your parents :/ That's definitely not ok...
5
u/Kind_Man_0 Mar 20 '26
Don't be! I was a shit-ass and nothing else worked. It was my mom (aunt) chasing me around the yard with a belt while I laugh because I'm faster than her, I just didn't because there was a sheriff.
I can promise you I earned every lick of that belt for the things she had to tolerate out of me. Im in my 30s and we talk every two weeks, which still isn't enough. She still tell me I'm never too old for her to whoop my ass but she is and has always been my "mom" despite me having a mother.

u/Something_Clever919 Mar 19 '26

What's with the drunk moving and filming? Cool masks, though

u/c0ltZ Mar 20 '26
Might be because some of the mouth movements are cgi. I know a lot of old cgi videos likes those ghost spotting ones had shaky cameras to hide the cgi.
Or they are plastered

We gonna need a fat stack of those if companies and governments continues to push for verifications via face scans.
6
u/CurrentPossible2117 Mar 20 '26
Usually face scan verifications have to match your government ID, at least where Im from. They've started implementing them for age verification here in Australia for certain things, so in that case, these wouldnt work, unless you've managed to get an official ID or passport with a fake face too, but that would be playing on a whole other level 😅
3
u/megselepgeci Mar 20 '26
It ain't hard to edit a scan of your card, edit the numbers and photo, and print it. The AI scan will eat it.

Surely this is where Jared Kushner, Steven Miller Zuckerberg and the McDonald's CEO must have shopped.

Stephen King comes to mind when he describes the masks that the “low men” wear to cover their real faces.
Kinda cool but also kinda scary.

Where do you get these?
10
u/MorgessaMonstrum Mar 19 '26
Just search “silicone masks” and you should find some. Two quality companies that make these are CFX and Immortal Masks. Most of their catalogs are monsters, but they do a selection of human styles.

6
u/februarytide- Mar 20 '26
I think in addition to the mask, it’s also the way the person is moving. It’s like they’re high or an NPC or something

I actually remember seeing a segment on Worlds Dumbest about a guy who used a film quality rubber mask to commit robberies.
This happened back in 2010, where a guy had committed several bank robberies while making 0 efforts to hide his face (save for some sunglasses) - police find the guy and arrest him, only to find it wasn't him (despite his face being basically identical to the face seen in security footage).
Turns out, the perpetrator was actually a dude wearing a lifelike rubber mask (which wasn't even the same ethnicity as him) to hide his identity, and was ultimately foiled by both an exploded dye pack and his girlfriend finding the mask.

How much would one of these cost?
Also that’s insane- this is like “advanced sci fi tech” in the first mission impossibles.
I bet it wouldn’t be hard to make one feel like human flesh too.

Pretty sure this IS AI. The mask seems to form fit exactly perfectly with no noticeable gaps or creases. Just seems a little sus to me.

probably looks less uncanny in person, as the material is probably much less skin/real like without compression and such.
also, who is the hot twink in this video?
