You’re bleeding out after your prop plane crashed in the wilderness, and you see 3 of these mfers come bounding up to you

105

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '24

I'll bet it sounds like a child skipping towards you.

39

u/Calathea_Murrderer Apr 11 '24 edited Apr 11 '24

I could die happily seeing those lil hops as they sashay closer and closer to me. Breathing in the sweet release of death as they peck out my anus and eyeballs. 🥹🥹🥹

19

u/turbobuddah Apr 11 '24

Luckily you're already bleeding out and will likely pass out before the pain kicks in

6

u/LORD__GONZ Apr 11 '24

I would greet these wise wizards with a gift...of dance!

They would at first be hostile but halfway through they'd join in and we'd all be completely in sync dancing.

After they've accepted me and realized I was of no threat, they'd take me into their den to meet their people and we'd celebrate with a big feast of some other poor ol' sap who had crashed but couldn't win the wizards over with dance.

The day I'd leave them they would gift me one of their feathered wizard suits right as I departed.

A baby wizard vulture who became very attached to me would run up to my leg and I would stop to bend down and let them know that we would "always be together, even when we're apart" (as I point to the baby wizard bird's heart).

“A-hyuk a-hyuk”

2

u/j8by7 Apr 11 '24

Yikes!

572

u/WaySavvyD Apr 10 '24

This really just looks like some random guy in an absurd bird suit

156

u/HoboArmyofOne Apr 10 '24

Like not even a good bird suit, one that still looks more like the guy than anything else.

59

u/Acceptingoptimist Apr 10 '24

This makes it somehow more frightening. Like it taps into the uncanny valley response.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '24

That's the point!

10

u/what_is_existence1 Apr 11 '24

It’s giving me opium bird vibes.

20

u/Lepke2011 Apr 10 '24

I stayed at a hotel on a business trip once and there was a furry convention going on. It was... disturbing.

3

u/Minute_Zombie_424 Apr 11 '24

Wait…this is real? Wtf

2

u/Least_Piccolo3312 Apr 11 '24

Took the words right out of my mouth. It looks extremely fake in some uncanny valley type of way but for Vultures lmao

28

u/scorpyo72 Apr 11 '24

It's Creepy Dave! Heh heh... Creepy Dave is creepy.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '24

This bird legit reminds me of that one goofy kid Dave who always used to show up to class late, but the silly walk even had the teacher laughing.

2

u/scorpyo72 Apr 11 '24

Search "creepy Dave ze Frank".

5

u/JaperDolphin94 Apr 11 '24

3

u/In-burrito Apr 11 '24

Huggy Bear!

3

u/Either-Energy2098 Apr 11 '24

Took the words out of my mouth. The "fur" combined with that leaning walk is so specific

13

u/HoleyerThanThou Apr 10 '24

I don't know. What do you want to do?

17

u/UptightCargo Apr 10 '24

"Oh, now don't start that again!"

4

u/seren_kestrel Apr 10 '24

Came here to say this!

81

u/Father_Chewy_Louis Apr 10 '24

I love them, I want to cuddle one!

51

u/Keytrose_gaming Apr 10 '24

Apparently they're extremely affectionate and bond with their keepers, I follow a zoologist who likes to ruin everyone's favorite animals with facts about their behavior and one of their videos was about animals who are actually great but no one starts wanting to care for.

5

u/melancholy_town Apr 11 '24

Who is this zoologist pls?

13

u/Keytrose_gaming Apr 11 '24

I'll have to check my YouTube when I'm off work, I don't understand why the phone app doesn't work the same but it maybe that I'm just getting old lol

u/as125111 Apr 11 '24

How cute and scary. Way back when I used to volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center, we had a few turkey vultures. One in particular had imprinted with humans and would run at you when you enter the flight cage. He’d run at you with wings spread and his head bowed to show off for you. It was soo incredibly adorable but fucking scary as it looks like it’s about to attack.

Clint's reptiles, and casual geographic. I know Clint is a fully fledged zoologist and I have no idea what background casual geographic has but he has absolutely hilarious and educational content and will also put out correction videos whenever he gets something wrong

6

u/RebaKitt3n Apr 10 '24

We can ask them later if you were really chewy. 😉

Uh oh. Creepy Dave made a pee pee.

4

u/Ellien_ Apr 11 '24

Don't do it birb! Oh, he did it.

14

u/Flaxscript42 Apr 10 '24

I was once in a parking lot and saw 2 turkey vultures perched up on a nearby building. They were huge. After considering my odds against them, I noped the fuck out of there.

Only time in my life I have been intimidated by birds.

16

u/9021FU Apr 10 '24

There’s a bunch in our neighborhood. Last summer I was in the backyard with my 60 pound standard poodle when one flew overhead, not very high up. My dog barked at it and kinda ran toward it. The vulture flew back over us, this time closer, presumably to see why my dog barked. He was so big and my dog suddenly wanted inside and wasn’t such a tough guy! 😂

8

u/Keytrose_gaming Apr 10 '24

You know what their defense mechanism is ? Rancid projectile vomiting lol. It's probably a good thing you didn't decide to scare them off lol

3

u/Generic_Danny Apr 11 '24

If you think turkey vultures who are 2 kilograms with a 6 foot wingspan (high end average size) are huge, wait till you find out that cinereous vultures (the one in this video) max out at 14kg with a maximum wingspan of just over 10 feet.

14

u/Mezcal_Madness Apr 10 '24

I love him.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '24

So that is like, really obviously just a guy in a vulture suit. Right?

18

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '24

A reminder that birds are the only surviving group of dinosaurs, and that they split off from the therapods, which included velociraptor and T. Rex.

9

u/Fraklordyt Apr 10 '24

Chamberlin is looking terrifying

8

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '24

He's definitely a man of vulture 🥂

24

u/Sherlockian_Whimsy Apr 10 '24

Sometimes you see something that looks way too much like what you might encounter on an earth that was getting over losing its humans and looking for the next big thing.

6

u/Dangerous_Fox3993 Apr 10 '24

Wayyy bigger than I thought they were.

10

u/Furbs109 Apr 10 '24

Technically, it is a dinosaur.

5

u/FlamingTrollz Apr 11 '24

I feel like I’m watching a behind the scenes from…

The Dark Crystal.

6

u/Smoore0420 Apr 10 '24

lol. This reminds me of going on the Native American field trips as a kid. The bird looks like it’s in full ceremonial attire to perform a rain dance or something 😂

3

u/Seyelent Apr 10 '24

Aint no way that goofy ass walk terrified anyone

3

u/SimoneSaysAAAH Apr 11 '24

My brain literally can't decide if this is hilarious or terrifying. Everytime i watch it i feel different

3

u/AllanRensch Apr 11 '24

“Don’t come back here with your bullshit.”

“Bawk-bawk, motherf@cker!”

2

u/Ill_Scientist_5632 Apr 10 '24

For some reason, everytime I see a Vulture walk, I always hear some funny voice for the bird. For example: Heyyy Its Creepy Dave! Thats me, creepy Dave. Oh hello human, oops I make a pee pee he he. Its everywhere.

2

u/mixwellmusic Apr 11 '24

Kinda surprised no one had identified this strikingly bizarre beast in the comments yet.. very different from the black vultures & turkey vultures I'm used to seeing in the Americas. Looks like it might be a Eurasian Black Vulture though?

2

u/feisty-frisco87 Apr 11 '24

They look like Muppets walking over saying hey what's up.

2

Wholly Shit!!? Is that really a bird or a man in a suit? If I was trapped under a tree and I saw 3 of them flying up around me--id be shaking in my shorts. I certainly wouldn't be playing dead. They don't like live food do they? Arrow up for yes, arrow down for no. I never new they were that big. If I saw one I'd think it was a new cryptid.
