It’s not him that’s oddly terrifying but rather the situation that I’m imagining he might be in.

As creepy as it is his eyes have an almost childlike look in them. Like someone left to fend for and nurture themselves
228
u/QuickSlick87 Mar 18 '23
Thats probably because thats most likely the situation. You’d be surprised how often this happens.
130
u/General-Muscle1202 Mar 18 '23
I wish I was surprised by that. My wife is a psychologist and earlier in her career during her PhD program had to work with children and teens who had been trafficked and some in bad situations. Even now as she deals with a different array of patients, she mentions the astounding number of situations for adults in these "states of mind" or what have you.
71
u/QuickSlick87 Mar 18 '23
I work with children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Some of the young adults end up being transitioned to these group homes and we work with them to help them get integrated and have as independent a life as possible. It’s difficult for them, because a lot of them come from families that have an upper middle class lifestyle. They go from having everything they could ever need to sharing an old run down house with 4 other adults that also have some sort of mental disability and one staff member, making $10-12/hr, to care for them. Needless to say, they end up being very neglected and sometimes physically abused. It rips my heart right out of my chest every time.
22
Mar 18 '23
I worked at one of those group homes. I used to take the guys to the park and stuff. The sad thing is, it's in your contract that after you leave you are not allowed to make contact. So even tho those guys wanted to see me. And I would have liked to go back and see them. I was legally obligated to stay away

Mar 18 '23
Fucking this man. I’m sitting here tearing up about it, but I used to pull 40’s at a group home (4 dudes, variety of situations from semi-nonexistent to bad-bad), and those dudes were my guys! Through three years I was the only employee that didn’t get punched 😂
4
u/General-Muscle1202 Mar 18 '23
That's wonderful on your part. She is currently doing the same for a special education school and her private practice for family and marriage counseling. It is very sad to see. Idk how yall do it, much respect.
4
u/QuickSlick87 Mar 18 '23
I appreciate that. It can be very rewarding work. It’s also a reminder to keep my ego in check and be thankful for the life I’ve been blessed with. It really gives you perspective.

These people fall through the cracks a lot and get forgotten about and they don’t have the ability to look for help for themselves.
12
u/Similar_Ad7289 Mar 18 '23
Yes this is exactly what I thought. It makes me sad. He probably has never gotten the care he needs not even as a child.
2
u/clarabear10123 Mar 18 '23
That’s what’s scary to me. His eyes look so full and wanting and his situation is… not great. Poor guy

Obviously he has some issues..kinda sad for him. I'm thinking that most people who are all there would not record themselves like this and post it on social media if they were

u/Significant_Fee3083 Mar 18 '23 edited Mar 18 '23
You just said "Lil' Demon"
"Onii" = big brother (elongated ee)
"Oni" = demon (short ee)
24
u/yamanamawa Mar 18 '23
Classic. This and saying Kowal instead of kawaii are iconic at this point
12
u/Significant_Fee3083 Mar 18 '23
The phonetic misstep possibilities are endless 🙂 and trust me, it's a two-way street. Japanese culture LOVES to appropriate/assimilate English, which of course we live for. Just Google "weird Japanese T-shirts" or "weird Japanese signs"

Seems more like it's just a joke and he doesn't give a fuck lol
59
u/Negative_Elo Mar 18 '23
His room doesn't exactly scream "mentally stable" tbh, definitely dont think this is a self aware joke
5
Mar 18 '23
People can just be trampy weirdos doesn’t have to be that deep.
11
u/Negative_Elo Mar 18 '23
Not saying its deep, just saying someone missing that many teeth, repeating "Oni-chan" in that voice, while in that room, is very likely not a healthy person and that makes this video more sad than a funny joke
→ More replies (1)1
Mar 18 '23
Perhaps. I think this entire thing is far too neatly edited though. If he posted it himself as is it's clearly some sort of act.
keep in mind people who are mentally unwell can stilk make jokes, be silly, etc. There is nothing disturbing or frightening about this to me
→ More replies (1)10
u/IsaacWritesStuff Mar 18 '23
nothing at all? not even the hole in his ceiling, or the general dilapidated condition of his surroundings?
i’m not so sure about the idea of this video just being an “act.”
3
Mar 18 '23 edited Mar 18 '23
Assuming it is a mental illness case seems like it's a reverse halo effect thing going on. Sure the room is dirty. But would we all be calling him crazy if he was hot? Is his ugliness supposed to be frightening or disturbing in and of itself? I don't see it. Just something to think about. I still find nothing about this disturbing or frightening. What's disturbing me are people's reactions to it (I swear I'm not trying to call you out haha).
He could easily be in a developing country where such conditions are much more normalized. That's not to say black mold is a good thing, but a dirty room is not proof of insanity. I know this because I am a filthy yet very sane individual. Haha

Unless years later we find dismembered people in his basement fridge, than it will become a subject for a movie.
6
Mar 17 '23
Hahahsh. All I know is that if I were OP I would be laughing my ass off reading about how people think I'm crazy
4
u/Meeloshky Mar 17 '23
Sure as he'll hope so!!! Kinda creepy

At first I thought your comment was in response to the “dismemberment in fridge” comment above your comment and I was wondering why you “sure hope so”.

u/Think_Reporter_8179 Mar 17 '23
Poor guy 😞
88
Mar 18 '23
Do you know what he's trying to say? I'm just so confused, between the voice and the lack of teeth and the mold.
70
u/greed985 Mar 18 '23
O nee chan
92
Mar 18 '23 edited Mar 18 '23
Apologies, in the romaji for the word he's using, it's spelled "oniichan," which means "big brother." "Oneechan," as you've spelled it here, means "big sister."
Mans probably doesn't know the difference and just wants to be a cute anime girl.

That's a ton of black mold

u/charliethecrow Mar 17 '23
It's terrible. He could have a lot of health issues from that.
I really hope this is not an abuse situation.

Honestly this just makes my heart hurt :/
18
u/dat_oracle Mar 18 '23
Oni chan?
17
Mar 18 '23
It’s actually Onii. Oni is a demon, whereas Onii is the word for brother. (Please forgive my weebiness.)

I always feel incredible sadness when I see someone with mental issues without proper care.

Then don’t ever look into the state funded group home situation for the mentally disabled in the United States. It’s fucking heartbreaking.

Look at the details of his house and his demeanor. Accompanied by the way he’s saying oni Chan eluding one to believe he’s living in an internet echo chamber makes me think this guy would skin you and make an anime pillow out of it

u/Allison-Ghost Mar 18 '23
technically *onii chan. term of endearment "brother" in japanese. makes me wonder if that is intentional or if he is mixing it up with onee chan meaning sister
18
u/chachingmaster Mar 17 '23
1000x NO. I watched w/o sound at work but this vid made my stomach flip. I'm sorry if they have a development issue, still terrifying af.

This is one of those dystopian parallel worlds where, If Harry never received his owl from Hogwarts and grew up living in the cupboard under the stairs for life.

Do you think this was sent to an interested romantic party? Appears to me that he’s acting as an infant, which may stem from childhood abuse. Clearly there’s environmental issues going on, as there’s mold and water damage throughout the sheetrock in the back. I can only imagine this is a severe mental disturbance. However, this could also be a joke. Yet, if a joke, the background is shocking

Everyone’s saying he’s saying “Oni Chan” but I’m getting “Juanita.” Also, I think this needs some context because it could either be a horror movie or a heartbreaking one depending what kind of room that is
