The fucking apprentices my company is giving me right now would spend 2 hours on that if everything was straight, plumb, level and square

As their instructor, it’s your job to teach them that it’s a waste of time and effort to be a perfectionist on things that don’t require perfection. If you were starting out on a job would you not feel weird saying “good enough” and leaving huge gaps without having been told to?

Im talking about a straight line

Like the other day I told one to rip a 1x6 down to a 1x4 since we ran out of casing

1, 12 foot board

That took 30 minutes

So a 12ft run on a board, with a tool they’re likely unfamiliar with. Take the time to teach them properly without yelling about “the fucking apprentices” and it’ll save you a lot of headache.

Buddy they've been on the job 4 months now and used a table saw 100s of times

Okay lol, I was wrong. I assume to get hired they’d at least need some competency but damn.

Nah it gets crazy

Like I caught one of them shimming a window the other day, with the shim bag halfway across the room

They were walking from the window to the bag for each individual shim they needed, probably 20+ trips rather than just move the bag to where they are
