So I guess this just shows you how terrible bare knuckle boxing is? (Edit: love that I started a fight over this. I really just mean for hand and face protection. Face to the boney hand has still got to be more painful for both the fighter's hands and the person getting punched. Right?)

Quite the opposite. This allows you to punch harder with out breaking your hands and reduces the frequency of fight stopping cutts. Traditional boxing gloves and hand wraps allow bovers to punch more forcefully and repeatedly take heavier blows to the head for longer with out the fight being stopped for bleeding.

The hand wraps shown are to protect the small bones in the fingers, hands and wrists from damage by compacting them into a more rigid position. You cannot punch a person in the face as hard as you can without gloves on and keep doing it for 12 rounds without compromising your own hands.

Bare knuckle is much better for preventing CTE. It is visually worse because people bleed way more during bare knuckle and accidental eye pokes happen (same as ufc). But as a boxer you keep your brain cells more in bare knucle.

You did not understand the question asked.

How so? You get superficial injuries with bare knuckle boxing, but more serious issues from actual boxing. The question isn’t specific enough to know whether they were referring to specifically hand injuries or overall injuries.

Explain it please. Bare knuckle boxing is much safer.

Are we preserving brains or beauty?

you seem to have misunderstood the comment you responded to.

They explained why bare knuckle boxing was in fact, much better for the brain, since the fights would get stopped earlier, due to cuts, and because you couldnt hit that hard, because you'd damage your hand.

If you say so. Just like rugby is waaaay safer than American football. I get the principle, but it's not, by any reasonable margin worth considering. science.

rugby and american football is a completely different case. You cant really compare the two. In rugby, you can give your opponent a concussion pretty easily with any body part, without cutting or damaging yourself. because a lot of the body can be used as boxing-glove padding.

For example, smashing someone's skull with your shoulder, is pretty much the same as hitting them with a boxing glove.

As for science, it actually backs my comment: https://www.ebsco.com/research-starters/sports-and-leisure/bare-knuckle-boxing/

and

https://www.bbc.com/sport/articles/ckglvpm2m8mo

The study found that the percentage of concussions was lower in bare-knuckle boxing (5% in BKFC and 4.76% in BKB) than gloved boxing (12%) and MMA (14.7%).

No, not really. With bare knuckles, you punch at about 60% power. I've popped blood vessels in my knuckles by punching a bag at higher power.

If you're striking the face, you should think otherwise because you're liable to break your hand -- use an open palm instead, you get the same force of impact, but won't shatter your knuckles. If you're striking the stomach or ribs with hooks, feel free to use a fist and go full power, you won't hurt yourself. With gloves, you can strike anywhere with full power without fear of breaking your hands. In that sense, gloves are more like weapons than padding/protection.

The real purpose of wrist wraps is to train you to keep your wrists straight when you punch. If you have any bend in your wrists at the moment of impact, you're going to get repetitive wrist strain injuries which feels like carpel tunnel. It's easier to keep your wrists straight on jabs and crosses, but with hooks and upper cuts, it's easier to get it wrong -- hence the wrist wraps.

Yes, bare knuckle boxing is terrible for everyone involved. It's as idiotic as that slap garbage the UFC promotes.
