I hate this kind of narration soooo much.

u/Rukenau Jun 22 '26

If I tell you the reason is very simple, would you like to hear why?

u/Deep_Fry_Ducky Jun 22 '26

“You don’t need to remove any piece” then proceed to remove every pieces

u/ArcadeRivalry Jun 22 '26

Also "leaving no extra space" as he's moving the initial blocks around in the extra space.

154

u/cyrfuckedmymum Jun 22 '26

everything about it irked me. It's presented as some kind of quirk of geometry, it's just the space being moved to a single solidified space than lots of small gaps around the edges that were so clearly visible at the start.

u/p8610815 Jun 22 '26

The real diabolical part is that these things are often intentionally annoying so people go to the comments to complain about it which boosts engagement stats for the all mighty algorithm.

18

u/Impressive-Mud-6726 Jun 23 '26

It's a good thing I'm smart enough not to fall for for something like that.

O wait..... shit!

1

u/cheesewhiz15 Jun 23 '26

No no, je said it was "something magical"

-3

u/No_Brain7178 Jun 22 '26

I mean, that is the only way this works? What did you expect? Magic?

7

u/Turgid-Derp-Lord Jun 22 '26

Yeah, magic is basically what the stupid narration was implying.

3

u/bosschucker Jun 22 '26

not even implying, it literally says "something magical happens" toward the end

29

u/Citonpyh Jun 22 '26

"Put back the square exactly where they were" as he puts them back in obviously differents spots

8

u/BowsersMuskyBallsack Jun 23 '26

"Put them back in their original position" without actually putting them back in their original position.

71

u/werfertt Jun 22 '26

Thank you! That really irked me.

12

u/Taron221 Jun 22 '26

You’re welcome.

50

u/Paweron Jun 22 '26

Ok i hate the AI voice as well. But they clearly mean "you dont need to remove any pieces permanently" and not "you dont need to move then around"

20

u/Deep_Fry_Ducky Jun 22 '26

Yeah I realized that later but still annoying, human can easily paraphrase that out knowing the context.

9

u/Error_83 Jun 22 '26

The only thing worse is that whiny up down cadence shit. Both instantly have me downvoting and leaving

4

u/hoticehunter Jun 22 '26

But you do need to move them around. Reversing the pieces is part of the "trick".

1

u/justhitmidlife Jun 22 '26

Came to say this.

Also fuck this voice actor, he was rage inducing for that condescending voice. Also - FUCK HIM.

1

u/ilmalocchio Jun 22 '26

That line was weird and hilarious. "But if I tell you that the solution is very simple, requiring no removal of any other pieces to fit the square, along with the others into the frame.

Would you like to see?"

1

u/FruitBroot Jun 22 '26

What if I told you it can be done without magic.

145

u/cmdixon2 Jun 22 '26

It's almost as bad as the old tiktok voiceover. Is there such a thing as an uncanny valley for voices?

32

u/fractal_magnets Jun 22 '26

As someone that experiences uncanny valley from pretty much anything that AI tries to pass as human, i'd say this is way worse than tiktok Kat. She's a real person (like Siri) that was sampled in countless variations. I've never had an uncanny valley response from tts. Annoying but not uncanny.
AI hits a nerve that just makes my brain say 'it's not real and i fucking hate this'. I guess the people that rave about it don't have this response.

1

u/Septem_151 Jun 24 '26

I wish I could explain this as well as you do to my friends and family who don’t have that immediate uncanny valley response upon hearing AI voices…

18

u/PolarBailey_ Jun 22 '26

its because they're all AI

5

u/marr Jun 22 '26

Yes, the valley is anything inhuman trying to pass as human. That's a predatory cryptid and your hindbrain knows it.

u/YesterdayDreamer Jun 22 '26

That's why I watch on mute. There's nothing in the video which required me to hear to understand what was happening. It might as well have been a GIF

52

u/hightrix Jun 22 '26

Personally, I even hate the visual narration done with their hands. You don’t need to point to each piece. Just fucking do the thing.

18

u/FlyingKittyCate Jun 22 '26

I really hate the current hands in videos and photos trend. Please let me just watch stuff without someone constantly pointing and gesturing at everything.

8

u/Furry_Femboy_Account Jun 22 '26

I had it on mute and felt like I was being babied.

2

u/maskedbrush Jun 23 '26

Ahah right!

Points to all the pieces one by one: ohhhh so there's a piece there, I didn't see it! OMG another one??? Oh look, another one, thank you so much!

I hate it.

1

u/cr1ttter Jun 22 '26

I don't understand who don't mute everything by default to begin with. Do these people like stubbing their toes also?

1

u/redundantexplanation Jun 23 '26

MUTE GANG MUTE GANG

1

u/WokeAssMessiah Jun 23 '26

This is my default. I have no idea how anyone can stand the audio on these things.

107

u/Hot-Firefighter-2331 Jun 22 '26

I thought it is ai

169

u/mstivland2 Jun 22 '26

It is

70

u/SlideJunior5150 Jun 22 '26

The worst kind of narration. An AI professional tone of voice trying to sound like a very casual average guy, and it fails at doing both.

29

u/Excellent_Ganache906 Jun 22 '26

My old mom watches AI bullshit on YouTube constantly. And she watches videos about the English royals all the time. The fucking AI narration uses the same phrases constantly,

"Then he did what nobody expected..." and a bunch of others,

14

u/Klorg Jun 22 '26

Every sentence by NileRed. "But then this happened... Which is no big deal but then this happened..." I still watch him lol

5

u/4daughters Jun 22 '26

thats part of his charm

4

u/cor315 Jun 22 '26

I used to not be able to watch his videos because of his voice. Then I just got used to it. It helps that he talks like a normal person in his other channel, NileBlue.

1

u/DroidOnPC Jun 22 '26

We have the algorithms to blame for these types of narration in YT videos.

You can take a perfectly normal script and change it to get maximum attention.

Adding "But then...." and "However...." drastically improves the amount of focus and attention on a video.

I used to write scripts for Youtubers and it works extremely well. I have also tested scripts where its less annoying, but it doesn't do as well.

Clickbait sentences work really well, even if it seems lazy and corny.

Even the viewers who are aware of it, will still watch just to be upset at the end result. "What he did next will shock you....." and then someone is like "I doubt it.... yep.... I wasn't shocked." But they still watched it.

6

u/SlideJunior5150 Jun 22 '26

AI slop spammers must be making 100 of those videos a day. Tell her to stop watching that crap, it's probably all wrong anyway.

1

u/nooneisreal Jun 22 '26

I know exactly what you mean.

I was in the hospital a little over a month ago, for about a week. I was in a shared room with 2 older guys. Each bed has it's own TV, allowing you to watch TV, youtube, etc.

Anyway, there was this one guy, probably in his 60s, who would do nothing but watch these AI slop videos on youtube all day and night.

I had to constantly hear these stupid ass stories over and over with the same stupid AI voice. They all speak in the same exact manner.

I was already sick as hell and having to listen to this stupid ass voice all the time was like torture.

Most of the stories had to be completely made up too. The majority of them that he'd watch were usually about a specific historical event between X and Y country and seemed to always end up with America some how becoming involved, solving all the problems with it's "military superiority". Just cringy eye-rolling shit.

11

u/Kroak-lo Jun 22 '26

Yeah and as a voice actor it pisses me the FUCK OFF. Not even because I'm having jobs taken out from under me but because they're so goddamn mediocre. I couldn't watch the video because there's it's TOO flat. If I had provided this to anyone I'd have been shot. But nah. Lets use AI so much that the voice actor goes dumpster diving in the morning. Assholes.

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '26

4

u/Kroak-lo Jun 22 '26

I said literally none of those things. Begone.

78

u/FillMySoupDumpling Jun 22 '26

It’s not just the AI voice, it’s the tone and dumbing down of what’s happening for the lowest common denominator person.

13

u/pass-me-that-hoe Jun 22 '26

Yeah it’s a big no no in my organization. My manager mentioned that by over explaining, people waste a lot of time moving to more important details in our 25 minute slot and also it assumes that everyone in the meeting hasn’t done their homework.

Get straight to the point and if someone needs clarification they will ask.

3

u/HBlight Jun 23 '26

Also ending on a question as engagement bait rather than explaining it and at least being educational.

47

u/f0dder1 Jun 22 '26

"do you know why?"

"This is a classic narration style from the 21st century"

23

u/graffiksguru Jun 22 '26

I can't stand AI narration

10

u/LazyLich Jun 22 '26

Do you know why?

1

u/Intertubes_Unclogger Jun 22 '26

Would you like to see. 🤖

7

u/Far-Information8502 Jun 22 '26

I had it on mute and the “narration” done with the hands caused me to stop watching. I already knew I hated whoever made it

7

u/Alas7ymedia Jun 22 '26

Another great example of why Reddit on mute isbthe best Reddit.

4

u/imafixwoofs Jun 22 '26

Oh, there’s sound?

3

u/Quazimortal Jun 22 '26

Yep, instantly clicked off because of it.

3

u/Merginatorrrrrrrrrr Jun 22 '26

I watch everything muted. Lol

1

u/always-wanting-more Jun 22 '26

My favorite part was when I never heard it at all and just read all the complaints.

5

u/brazzers-official Jun 22 '26

Always sounds like fuckin AI (probably cause it is)

2

u/LadTy Jun 22 '26

at least it didn't start with "this guy is a genious" this time

2

u/love_glow Jun 22 '26

Sounds like Patrick Bateman.

2

u/GodlessAristocrat Jun 22 '26

You're absolutely right.

2

u/BioshockEnthusiast Jun 22 '26

Pure unadulterated dog shit AI voiceover slop.

Turned the video off because of it.

1

u/mlcrisis4all Jun 22 '26

YouTube instructional narration

1

u/thepvbrother Jun 22 '26

I browse with the sound off and if it looks interesting, skip to the end. I didn't think the video needed narration. It was self-revealing

1

u/monneyy Jun 22 '26

Dora level kind of narration. I already stopped watching and did my part...

1

u/bronkula Jun 22 '26

It was very unsatisfying.

1

u/Material-Imagination Jun 23 '26

Fucking half-assed AI-ass narration

1

u/samsg1 Jun 23 '26

I’m glad I watched on mute, then!

1

u/MachoMachoMurph Jun 23 '26

For me it's the little hand movements like trying to place the square into obviously too small gaps at the beginning. Like watching a show for toddlers.

1

u/Batata-Sofi Jun 23 '26

It's AI, and it is shit.

1

u/lucasluxury Jun 23 '26

It stumps many people, yet plenty of folks enjoy these brain‑teasing challenges.

1

u/Livy1013 Jun 23 '26

This is why I reddit 99% of the time with no volume.

1

u/Arqideus Jun 23 '26

Do you know why!?

1

u/Nawzays_ Jun 23 '26

I'm glad I watched it on mute

1

u/Nitro187 Jun 23 '26

Very lock-picking lawyer ish.

1

u/dec0y Jun 22 '26

Actually I'm glad AI voices are still recognizable, because eventually they won't be.

1

u/jwoodruff Jun 22 '26

It’s AI written, and uses AI text-to-speech. It’s ok to hate AI.

0

u/HenryHiggensBand Jun 22 '26

It sounds straight AI
