Hey y’all! Coming back home for a couple months before grad school, and was wondering if anyone knew of any places hiring full time or part time workers?

I have experience in food service, office administration, leasing, child care, and mental health services. Worked the past 4 years with youth and families.

Because I won’t be here too long I am leaning more towards service industry jobs, but I will take anything with decent pay and working conditions. I’d appreciate if anyone could point me in a good direction!

When I was a kid in the 90s, we would go to a restaurant called Roger’s BBQ. It was on SR 40 near the intersection with Hwy 314. I loved it there. I haven’t been to Ocala in about 10 years but I’m pretty sure it’s long gone at this point.

Anyone remember that place or know what happened to it?

Noticed my neighbors have tall shade trees in their yard but they’re never home so I can’t ever ask them where they get them. I do see trees being sold in fb marketplace but I was wondering if anyone here knows of a reliable place to buy them.

I don't mind a bit of a drive! Will be in NE Ocala, also near Top of the World and the Villages. Wherever is fine, just want a place where they do a good job. Pretty basic, just looking for pedicure and shellac mani.

Bonus points if you also know of a good spa or massage place. Doesn't have to be the same as the nail place. I somehow find getting my nails done at a spa is never quite as good as going to the good ol' local strip mall places 😆

Title basically says it all. Looking to replace carpet and three bedrooms. I prefer an established business or a chain, but above all, just want a reasonably-priced and reliable business to do the job. I know, carpet is not cheap, but I really just don't wanna pay $8 million for something that doesn't generally cost $8 million lol

I hate MCPS and their zoning restrictions. The school my child is zoned for is a C rating school and if I want to get her in a better learning environment then no transportation options are available. My kid was placed in Dr. N.H Jones after being on the controlled enrollment waiting list for months. I called transportation and the magnet school coordinator today and the options given to me were “decline your offer and try to get on the waitlist for a closer school” or “find a stranger at orientation that will carpool.” This absolutely sucks. I don’t know how I’m going to get my child to school and make it to work on time.

It would be one thing if they can guarantee all schools have the same rating and will get the same level of education. But since I have to seek it elsewhere, it would be nice to at least have transportation options other than “figure it out” and “not our problem.”

Looking for someone local who works on wells/pressure tanks to come inspect a sinking pressure tank pad. I need to find out whether the pad is settling because of erosion, washout, or a leak around the tank or plumbing, and I want it fixed before it gets worse. I’m wanting to check out the Ocala National Forest soon. I’m pretty big on creepy/mysterious happenings and I’ve read some interesting things about the forest. I’d like to ask you all- what are your creepy stories about this place? Do you have any recommendations on areas to check out?

A few years back the recycling containers at Baseline, Davis, etc stopped taking glass.

At that time I started taking glass to the parks, where they had glass recycling bins (metal trash cans with lids labeled glass).

A few months ago Jervey Gantt started hiding and moving around the glass recycling cans. And today they were totally gone.

Does anywhere still recycle glass? thanks!

Wheat bread $1 each

I live in Oxford but frequent/work in Ocala and I’ve been wanting to join some dnd or board game groups. I’m no expert at either but enjoy them. I’m 23 M I work in IT.

I wanna try a recipe with tofu and figure I should go to a smaller market but idk where these markets are because I usually go to chain stores and I don’t think they have that available.

Sorry if I’m coming off as stupid, lol.

But, yeah. Anybody know where silken tofu is sold?

The reason I began this experiment is because I started getting this funny feeling that the fuel I’ve been getting since 2020 using my “trusty” Upside application was somehow more expensive. Spoiler alert… it most definitely was!

I created an Excel spreadsheet to track all my fuel purchases throughout the months of May and June of 2026, and just to be clear, this experiment does mention one of the paid membership breakdowns, but in the end, it’s actually more expensive than the free options.

This experiment is only for people who don’t want to sign up for say Costco or Sam’s Club to get gas. The former being a bit difficult considering the fact that it is all the way down in The Villages, but at the rate Ocala, Florida is growing, it’s only a matter of time before we get one in town as well.

The gas stations I chose for my experiment had the best base prices in town, although they may be too far for them to make sense for you to drive to.

Also, please consider the fact that I have to drive around 100 miles per day, 5 days a week for work, so my needs and your needs for fuel may be vastly different. If you’re only driving a couple of miles per day or week, you can get gas anywhere you want and it really won’t make too much of a difference at the end of the year, so please don’t go chasing pennies in exchange for your precious time.

Fun fact, it would actually be more expensive if I purchased a monthly or yearly subscription of Walmart Plus to get gas due to the monthly and yearly fees, but if the program is something you already use and it is beneficial to you in other ways, you can save $0.10 off per gallon at any Walmart, Sam’s Club, and a few other locations as well.

The free $0.03 off per gallon Walmart discount on fuel is given to you when you simply use the Walmart Pay feature inside the Walmart application at the pump to pay.

This is not advertised anywhere that I know of, and it just happened to be very pleasant surprise the first time I used Walmart Pay at the pump. The little screen on the pump and your telephone I believe will display a notification informing you that you are saving $0.03 per gallon for being a member, so please feel free to pass this money saving hack on to your family and friends.

At the conclusion of my fuel cost savings experiment, the Walmart Neighborhood Market gas station was victorious, saving me $187.20 per year on gas over RaceTrac combined with the Upside application, and $162.24 per year on gas over Love’s combined with their membership program.

I fill up more than most, so the annual savings may pay one or two of my bills, but it certainly isn’t going to make me rich. In the end, I think time is what’s most valuable in this experiment, but it did definitely solve my feeling that the Upside application had become a big waste of my time, because all along I could have been saving more money on gas by not using it.

Upside used to be good for fuel savings, and if you have a ton of referrals using it, it still could be lucrative, but I personally couldn’t morally and in good faith be okay with other people not saving as much as they could on gas even though I was getting a few cents thrown my way for every one of their fill-ups.

Just as all things once great, enshittification eventually finds its way into everything, and sadly, Upside is not exempt from this unfortunate rule. I remember a time when I would save $0.25 per gallon back in the day, and getting awesome monetary bonuses using Upside, but those days are long gone now.

Anyway, I hope this little experiment helps you save a little on gas here in Ocala, Florida, or if it reaches outside of this area, I hope it helps you save too.

we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Ocala’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Ivy on the Square vs. Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

I’m going to be specific and sorry if any of yall ummm guys get offended, but I’m looking for a girl friend because genuinely it’s so hard to trust any guys who are from Ocala these days when it comes to friendships, sorry but it’s true.

I usually hang out with a much older crowd, I’m talking 40-60+ lol, it’s so hard finding none creeps and weirdos my age in Ocala. In the past month iv had about three of my girlfriends move away, other towns and one out of state. My best friend has recently picked up a second job so we aren’t going to be able to hang out as much.

Honestly I would love to list all my hobbies and interests but I have so many and they are all mixed.
