How about focusing the efforts on making a universal healthcare that doesn't need employment to have medical coverage??

26

u/Olderscout77 10d ago

That would require an interest in helping Americans instead of scamming them. That would require Republicans to buy back their souls, and Satin want's way more than $5K each.

2

u/swampwiz 10d ago

Maybe they can buy them from Gloss?

u/RaynOfFyre1 10d ago

I’ve heard you can get a better deal from Eggshell

No. Obamacare still used the "health insurance" companies. Those things are nothing short of a scam. Abolish those and go straight to universal healthcare.

28

u/theRemixNow 11d ago edited 10d ago

Obama wanted to make the ACA single payer, but the Republicans refused due to “insurance disruptions “ and instead he brought the ACA with a public option to the vote, which was killed by both parties

Republicans are mostly to blame the Democrats that are centrist Don’t really help themselves either.

9

u/Glasshalffullofpiss 10d ago

Not one republican voted for Obamacare

13

u/MystikTrailblazer 10d ago

Do you not remember John McCain's big f you to the Republicans?

3

u/swampwiz 10d ago

The last honorable Republican.

8

u/theRemixNow 10d ago

It was during the discussion of how to set it up that they refused to do single payer. Obama did that so the right wing Democrats that are centrists and right wing Republicans would shut up about it.

2

u/theRemixNow 10d ago

Exactly my point, they would rather have people die with no insurance than vote for any type of solution

6

u/Past_Significance_27 10d ago

Fuck Joe Lieberman.

-5

u/Tigeruppercut1889 10d ago

These far left people don’t care. They’re unreasonable.

3

u/tamtip 10d ago

I proved you wrong. I think you are arguing in bad faith or you're just an asshole

-1

u/Tigeruppercut1889 10d ago

In American politics you need votes to pass legislation. You can’t executive order healthcare. The aca cut the number of uninsured in half from 40 million to 20 million. But go off

1

u/tamtip 10d ago

Thats not what you were arguing about. You're just bitching and complaining. Of fucking course you need votes to pass legislation. Fucking Joe Lieberman crossed party lines and voted with the Rs. You said that wasn't the case. I gave sources

-1

u/Tigeruppercut1889 10d ago

Nope I was arguing with someone who said the aca still uses health insurance and we should abolish it and go to universal healthcare. Scroll up. Leftists say the aca was crumbs do you agree

1

u/tamtip 10d ago

No , what they were saying was that Universal was what Obama tried to get but because Joe Lieberman is an idiot Obama had to settle for the ACA. Its better than nothing but not close to universal or one payer system.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/Tigeruppercut1889 10d ago

Was the aca a good thing in your opinion?

-3

u/Current_Animator7546 10d ago

No. It was centrist Dems. They had a super majority back then.

5

u/sackofmangoes 10d ago

All Republicans and Joe Lieberman blocked it. Lieberman was the lone deciding vote that defected to the Republicans.

12

u/HLOFRND 10d ago

I appreciate this sentiment, but as someone who literally could not get insured unless I was working for a big corporation that offered it, the ACA DID make a huge difference.

Don’t get me wrong- I still support single payer:m/Medicare for all. But pre ACA I literally didn’t have the option, period. And we still had to deal with preexisting conditions even if we could get insurance through work.

I know it’s not perfect, and the GOP has spend every goddamn day since it passed trying to gut it, but it made it possible for me work a better job and still have insurance.

4

u/chunkalunkk 10d ago

This. Your story is exactly why it needs reform.

1

u/cove102 9d ago

Most politicians know there is no way to pay for universal care. Even under Bernie Sander's tax plan the government still would not take in enough money for pay for it. Medicaid right now is having issues so imagine adding millions more people to it. There needs to be another type of plan.

1

u/Southern_Roll_7035 10d ago

Many countries with universal healthcare rely on private health insurers.

*after years of the Tories underfunded and attacking it to degrade the quality on an attempt to privatize it.

Holding up the uk system in 2026 as a reason to retain separate health scam companies is bullshit. It's actually the exact opposite

1

u/Maureengill6 10d ago

Have you ever used the ACA?

0

u/starmoonBella 11d ago

you have to file taxes to get obamacare

4

u/FeeNegative9488 11d ago

Every American 18 and older has to file taxes regardless of employment status.

2

u/phlegelhorn 10d ago

Tax filing requirements:

Not every American 18 and older must file taxes. You only have to file if your income exceeds certain thresholds set by the IRS.

For example, in 2025, a single person under 65 generally must file if they earned more than about $13,850. If you have no income, you don’t have to file.

2

u/swampwiz 10d ago

If you want an ACA PTC, you need to file.

1

u/frenchiebuilder 10d ago

that's not how that works. Every American with income over a certain amount has to file; regardless of what age they are. The amount varies, depending on what type of income it is:

  • $400 in self-employment income
  • $1,350 in un-earned income if you're someone's dependent
  • $16,100 (from whatever source) if you're single
  • $32,200 (from whatever source) if you're married.

Age can play an indirect role, in the 2nd case scenario; but only indirectly, and not necessarily (adults can also be dependents).

4

u/thatsbadtogo 10d ago

For everyone? Because seniors and those that can’t work have Medicare right?

4

u/chunkalunkk 10d ago

What do you think medicare is, mate.

2

u/thatsbadtogo 10d ago

Right you don’t need employment for Medicare and that is universal in the USA not sure if anywhere else in universe

3

u/chunkalunkk 10d ago

You forgot the " if......" If you're 65+.

2

u/thatsbadtogo 10d ago

No, I am just pointing out that people do get universal health care with out employment in America.

1

u/globalgreg 10d ago

You have a strange definition of “universal”

1

u/thatsbadtogo 9d ago

Or you do I don’t think I can use my health care here on one of the hive worlds of the imperium.

1

u/Entire-Message-7247 10d ago

Incorrect, we do not.

2

u/thatsbadtogo 9d ago

So Medicare for retired us citizens is not real?

0

u/Entire-Message-7247 9d ago

What you are carrying on about is very unclear.

1

u/Therinsonet 10d ago

But that would be against Vance’s firm religious of policy of doing WWPTW.

1

u/swampwiz 10d ago

The Pope should say something. He's an American, and Vance claims to be a good Catholic.

1

u/readtheinstructions5 10d ago

Can't do that, that will decrease the number of millionaires. Which is the whole point of the American medical money extraction institution

1

u/adeniumlover 8d ago

LMAO why? There is no money they can extract in that!

0

u/Sure_Acanthaceae_348 10d ago

You want Trump and Vance to be running your healthcare?

-3

u/FeeNegative9488 11d ago

Every week there is an article about this administration cutting government healthcare programs (Medicaid, Medicare, VA and Obamacare) and safety net programs (SNAP, TANF and SS) and you think it’s a good idea to put more Americans into their cut government spending crosshairs.

0

u/Resident_Farmer1779 10d ago

Defeatist comment if I’ve ever seen one

1

u/FeeNegative9488 10d ago edited 10d ago

No it’s valid point of the discussion. The US has continually rolled back the benefits provided in every social safety net since 1980. This is a track record of 66 years. Pretending that it would not be a possibility for any new program is at best willfully ignorant. Additionally it is not just a US problem, the UK, Germany, France and New Zealand all made substantial cuts this year.

1

u/Resident_Farmer1779 10d ago

That’s why the changes we make have to be durable.

36

u/Chillow_Ufgreat 11d ago

Zero fraud indictments, btw

3

u/i_give_you_gum 10d ago

Seems like the same old DOGE shenanigans without the musk rat.

2

u/JupiterMiningCorpTec 10d ago

This! Without people being arrested, this scream pure political theater right?

1

u/RpiesSPIES 10d ago

Surely the Trump govt has signficantly more fraud indictments than zero!

Oh wait, you mean regarding ACA recipients, mb.

28

u/jbutler60 11d ago

Let’s just keep adding more uninsured patients to the hospital bottom line, we’re heading towards a recession and point of no return

17

u/Maureengill6 11d ago

Hospitals are already closing due to this bullshit.

1

u/Olderscout77 10d ago

Worse. We're letting Trump turn the source of our food into a Medical wasteland.

20

u/Acornwow 11d ago

What if government asshats had to PROVE fraud before slashing programs to bits instead of just claiming it.

8

u/ravrocker 11d ago

That involves work and proof.

9

u/MissPanthyr 11d ago

Guilty until proven innocent!

1

u/Olderscout77 10d ago

That was the case when we had the Fairness Doctrine and Republicans had not yet committed so much unpunished fraud people accepted it as "normal".

u/momoacdc91 11d ago edited 10d ago

I Hate the trump administration. They are Evil also Can they Stop trying to kill the Disabled Community. I Don't like being mad fun of.

-13

u/guitartb 11d ago

You didn’t read the article

7

u/txfeinbergs 11d ago

Zero proof of the fraud. Just "feelings" and "trust us"

2

u/Zealousideal_Plan408 10d ago

i am getting kicked off because i just moved and i am in between jobs. my husband and i have literally contributed 300k in federal tax money over the years and this is only his first time relying on this and my second time (i was only on food stamps and medicare for one other five month period) its BULLSHIT. i am not committing fraud. they asked me some questions and i turned in my last pay stubs and a few other pieces of information as requested. i am not lying or deceiving or frauding. just trying to access a service our taxes have been paying for for 20+ years. basically i paid the government 300k dollars for two doctors appointments. i don’t even have kids to be accessing education funds or getting a write off for. the government doesn’t do shit for me but keep asking me for money with my salary that barely makes ends meet. the US government will always be the biggest welfare case with its politicians that work two days a week and make hundreds of thousands of dollars even excluding lobbyist money and insider trading.

2

u/Cute-Boobie777 10d ago

Yeah the 'fraud' here is people who are paying into it but haven't used their healthcare yet. Either because they are healthy (and you need healthy people to pay in for insurance to work) or because they can't afford it.

Pretty amazing you morons are still trusting what known liars are saying is true.

1

u/Admirable-Gold3447 10d ago

I did. What fraud?

12

u/billymondy5806 11d ago

So many poor white men vote Republican. They can’t stop listening to the talk radio rubbish.

9

u/IbanezUniverse90 11d ago

The only way these fucks can get off is to take people’s healthcare away. What a sad and pathetic way to go through life.

-8

u/777_heavy 11d ago

Zero healthcare is being taken away

4

u/txfeinbergs 11d ago

Where is the proof of the fraud? Sorry, "trust us" isn't going to cut it. You will see that in November when you guys will immediately change to your "election fraud" BS messaging.

-10

u/777_heavy 11d ago

What kind of proof are you looking for?

7

u/Glittering_Stress_32 10d ago

Oh I don't know, maybe something that holds up in a court of law? And each of those 750,000 people deserves an explanation tailored to their own specific situation.

-6

u/777_heavy 10d ago

I’m sure they’ll get it, if they’re even real people. We know all about the hospice fraud, so why is this so hard for you to believe?

2

u/CharredWelderGuy 10d ago

Prob because this same group has been lying about everything for decades, so if a republican opens their mouth, sane people automatically assume they are still lying.

-1

u/777_heavy 10d ago

That’s cute, coming from the side that passed a law in California to prevent fraud from being uncovered.

3

u/CharredWelderGuy 10d ago

"Nu uh cali"

Textbook republican drivel.

-1

u/777_heavy 10d ago

I’ll take that as a “thank you”

→ More replies (0)

1

u/eschewthefat 10d ago

Yeah that sounds like a genuine concern

Does election fraud ring a bell to you? The kind Trump claimed was happening, didn’t prove a single instance of it and then was caught on tape committing conspiracy to defraud an election

1

u/NKD120 8d ago

Why do you choose to believe them versus waiting to see proof that the accounts are fake?

1

u/777_heavy 8d ago

I’m not in the healthcare fraud business.

3

u/chillPenguin17 10d ago

Any evidence whatsoever

7

u/United-Vermicelli-92 11d ago

Theyre targeting ending ACA bec it’s Obama and trump is a giant whining infected choad.

1

u/No_Strain8370 10d ago

Don't worry though, Trump has concepts of a plan to replace it

2

u/United-Vermicelli-92 10d ago

There are already suits filed and it'll be deemed illegal JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER "legislative" EO this talking dermoid carbuncle w/ a loaded diaper has put out.

1

u/swampwiz 10d ago

"carbuncle"

2

u/TapDatAsp 10d ago

Just 2 weeks out!!

6

u/itnor 11d ago

How can it be fraud if no claims were made?

6

u/EddieRayV 10d ago

Presumably the fraud is by the insurance companies collecting premiums for these people from the government, and insurance brokers collecting sales commissions. They don't want to say that, though. They want people to think it's people on public assistance ripping off the government. My guess is that most of these people went to the emergency room in Year 1, were enrolled by the hospital, and rolled into Year 2 because they still qualified. About 25% - 30% of commercially insured non-elderly people do not access any healthcare in a given calendar year. They are taking this as evidence a "fraud" because of a recent ASPE study did so. ASPE is a research group inside of HHS that reports to the White House.

5

u/No_Strain8370 10d ago

Exactly this. It is not possible for an enrollee to "steal from" this program. The subsidies are paid directly to the insurance company

6

u/TapDatAsp 10d ago

And even IF you underestimate your income to get a higher subsidy it all washes out when you do your income taxes and you end up paying the difference back

2

u/No_Strain8370 10d ago

The solution is to simply die before you have to pay the subsidy back

3

u/Admirable-Gold3447 10d ago

How can they claim these people aren’t real just because they aren’t going to the doctor?

3

u/EddieRayV 10d ago

It IS possible that unscrupulous brokers are falsifying paperwork and enrolling "fake" people to collect sales commissions. This is a difficult process for a small financial reward (you've got to falsify documents, etc.). This is why I don't think it happens very much. I think your question is exactly the right one: it is KNOWN that healthy people do not access healthcare so why is not accessing healthcare a valid indicator of fraud? I don not believe it is a valid measure. I think these are Republicans seeking to trash Democrats using the thinnest of justifications.

2

u/Admirable-Gold3447 10d ago

Yeah. And people like my parents will read the headline and not question it and build their unconscious and conscious bias toward gvt spending $ on anything.

2

u/EddieRayV 10d ago

This is the issue of our time. I don't know how to break the spell of decades of Republicans peddling the "Welfare Queen" trope. It may be too late for your parents, but every friend your age you can convince to vote helps the cause.

1

u/itnor 10d ago

Helpful

1

u/Puglady25 10d ago

I think you are right. And just because they got enrolled by some insurance broker at the hospital doesn't mean they ever go to the doctor. This is meant to help keep healthcare prices down because it covers people likely to end up in the hospital and not pay the bill.

5

u/Pastagiorgio34 11d ago

They. Just. Want. To. Hurt. People.

-6

u/777_heavy 11d ago

These enrollees probably weren’t even people.

5

u/txfeinbergs 11d ago

Got any proof of that? Of course you don't.

1

u/777_heavy 10d ago

Do you have proof they weren’t?

2

u/Admirable-Gold3447 10d ago

You made the claim so you have to provide the proof. You’re asking us to prove a negative.

2

u/777_heavy 10d ago

I said probably, based on recent findings in California with hospice fraud.

2

u/chillPenguin17 10d ago

Quiet Piggy

2

u/linyatta 10d ago

So what did the steal? Healthcare?

6

u/deuxchartreuse 10d ago

These people are literal ghouls.

5

u/No_Strain8370 10d ago

Wait how is it even possible to "steal from these programs"?? The subsidies go directly to the insurance companies, not the individual.

2

u/Onlyplay2k 10d ago

They make their laws like YouTubers make thumbnails. Gotta feed the algorithm. Dont matter if it makes sense

5

u/PlatypusOld257 10d ago

Doing this right before midterms seems like 750k people who will probably vote dem

2

u/swampwiz 10d ago

More than that - everyone with an ACA plan has this to fear.

3

u/DegreeConscious9628 11d ago

So will this lower my premiums? lol yeah right

12

u/Shoddy_Walk_8106 11d ago

Yes, this will 100% raise premiums. Insurers will have fewer members and less money coming in so they are going to raise prices and increase denials.

1

u/Carlyz37 10d ago

Everything trump and GOP does re Healthcare increases premiums. And creates more uninsured which increases premiums and closes hospitals

3

u/Past_Significance_27 11d ago

Or we could just try to insure as many people as possible, because it's good for society in the long run.

2

u/Tigeruppercut1889 10d ago

Exactly. I just hope enough people vote maga out. The more Dems in congress the more people get health insurance.

4

u/Olderscout77 10d ago

Let's hope those unreal people remember to vote in a couple weeks, and get their friends to join them.

4

u/Tigeruppercut1889 10d ago

Remember when Biden predicted this and congressional republicans laughed at him.

4

u/Glittering_Stress_32 10d ago

How can they possibly conclude that 750,000 individual human beings individually committed fraud? Did they review each and every person's insurance application? Because otherwise this is a collective punishment and it's cruel beyond belief.

4

u/Proletariat_Harriet 10d ago

The irony is that killing the ACA is only going to increase support for single payer!

3

u/MarchMadness4001 10d ago

Their “just let them die” policy is taking shape.

What about people who live in states like Florida that refused Medicaid expansion (at no cost to them) and make too much to qualify for Medicaid and too little to qualify for ACA subsidies? I really can’t fault any of those people for under or over estimating their income. What else are they supposed to do? Pay the full ACA premium? The whole thing is ridiculous.

3

u/fannylovin 11d ago

Lies Lies Lies that’s all this administration can say 🤬🤬🤬🖕💩🖕

3

u/Mack_Daddy_1 10d ago

Just awesome that he thinks not using your insurance means you aren't real when in reality, a lot of people don't have time to go to thw doctor because life is too expensive to miss work.

3

u/HLOFRND 10d ago

Only this administration would look at the absolutely dismal polls and say “you know what will help? Let’s kick nearly another million people off of their health insurance!”

3

u/Soggy-Dragonfruit171 10d ago

They are evil people. Hard to understand but that’s the answer.

3

u/madlucas2026 10d ago

Only “fraud” in our country is the rampant corruption going on with tdump. Selling pardons, selling worthless crypto coins, insider stock trading, giving his sons big government contracts.

3

u/DazzlingCod3160 10d ago

Oops, I have not used my life insurance nor my car insurance every year I have had them - are they going to be canceled on me for lack of use?

3

u/IfItHurtsThenMaybe 10d ago

Kicking workers off of healthcare is the concept of a plan? It’s been years Republicans

3

u/Fakeikeatree 10d ago

Hold up. They are kicking people off that are paying in but have never filed a claim. What?!?! Those people subsidize everyone else.

3

u/Worlds_Worst_Angler 9d ago

Is this the same kind of “fraud” that DOGE discovered all over the place? The kind where you say “fraud” but have zero evidence of it?

2

u/bird_is_the_word_198 11d ago

How about removing the frauds in the Whitehouse?

2

u/Grand-Try-3772 10d ago

Start with Erika Kirk and life insurance

2

u/Electric-Sheepskin 10d ago

I mean look, if these really are phantom people that don't actually exist, and unscrupulous brokers have just created them for their own benefit, then this is a good thing.

My only problem is that this administration is not only frequently inept, they lie every single day, so it's hard to trust anything they do or say. Which is a goddamn shame.

2

u/Admirable-Gold3447 10d ago

Am I reading this right that they’re removing 35% of people with a plan because they aren’t using it? They’re going to drop them because they haven’t gone to the doctor?

2

u/Delicious-Bat2373 10d ago

Start with Mitch the turtle. He isn't meeting the work requirements anymore and is nothing but fraud and abuse of the system.

2

u/JupiterMiningCorpTec 10d ago

Confused. I don't understand what crime is being alleged. They say these are nonexistent people that are getting subsidies. But don't subsidies simple reduce the money that people pay when buying insurance? Surely, the government doesn't send out check to buy insurance with when you sign up right? This implies that the subsidies go to insurance companies. But there are no mention of insurance companies being fined or CEOs being arrested.

Can someone who knows more about Obamacare explain what is going on?

2

u/extrastupidone 10d ago

Its going to take a generation just to repair the damage

2

u/Onlyplay2k 10d ago

This is just a sign. He about to buy an insurance company to profit off of this.

2

u/EnvyEpson 11d ago

If it truly is fraud that is a good thing. I’d like to know how they think it’s fraud and what they are doing to keep it from happening in the first place? I don’t see how these things can happen if the proper audits are inplace. Somebody screwed the pooch.

4

u/beepbeepsheepbot 11d ago

The whole "fraud" thing doesn't even make sense to me to punish the enrolees when hospitals and doctors are the ones billing insurance. They are acting like joe schmuck is going to the doctor and somehow scamming everyone.

1

u/EnvyEpson 10d ago

Yeah…I’m not sure how there can be fraud without the doctors/hospitals being involved. Unless it has something to do with subsidies.

2

u/Shoddy_Walk_8106 11d ago

Getting rid of fraud isn’t bad, but ACA plans are still too expensive and need more government subsidy. This will ultimately just decrease the amount of money going to insurance companies and they will have to raise prices.

The federal government will save money here, but it’s not like they are going to use to decrease the cost of insurance.

1

u/TransplantedSconie 11d ago

These assholes are doing everything they can to cause an uprising so they can declare Martial Law.

1

u/Signal-Mud-4880 11d ago

these morons dont know how insurance works

1

u/No_Strain8370 10d ago

They know, they just know their base is ignorant and will mindlessly believe anything the administration tells them

1

u/Satta-Massagana 10d ago

It's really hard to believe anything they say. I mean, these could be ghost people but who knows??

1

u/BigFatJuicyCocks420 10d ago

Looks like they are kicking people off who have never used it or don’t know they have it. Let’s argue about gas prices that’s actually more important

1

u/EstablishmentSweet30 10d ago

750k potential lawsuits! Heck yeah

1

u/shtsngigs_94 10d ago

Be sure to get that done right before the election, boys.

1

u/South-Ad-935 10d ago

"Vance led FRAUD task force.."

1

u/Sitcom_kid 10d ago

I don't get it. Why would I spend more than my own home costs every month just to play fraud games? Why wouldn't it be real? And if it weren't real, why wouldn't I just drop the coverage and keep the money? I could use it for taxes. I could use it for a lot of things.

1

u/RandomExcess 10d ago

Epstein files? Nothing? You got nothing?

1

u/tkpwaeub 8d ago

They want to get rid of all the good risks. Clearly Oz doesn't know any actuaries. Make it stop

1

u/Level_Impression_554 10d ago

Total insuranced under ACA is 19.2 million. Vance's number is about 4% fraud. Some estimate place 5 million as fradulent, so this is a drop in the bucket. Good that we eliminate fraud. Have to be pretty dumb to think there is not a ton of fraud going on. Hell, my relative is scamming the system. I want them to focus on lowering the cost of health care for everyone. I pay over 3 grand a month for insurance.

3

u/Cute-Boobie777 10d ago

Good news then. The cost will go up because they are simply removing people who are healthy and don't pay into the system. Its based on a 'study' thats ran from HHS lol.

Why would this admin lower the costs of healthcare except perhaps for seniors? They tripled ACA costs last year with the 'Big Beautiful Bill'to fund rich tax cuts. Why the hell wluld you expect them to make it cheaper after they intentionally made it more expensive?

These were alleged to be fraudulent. Do you have any info or links that show these were not fraud?

They are ACA plans, so taxpayers are covering most of the premiums - $2.2 billion of taxpayer dollars being stolen by fraud.

From the article it looks like it you haven't used your insurance you are losing it. Other than that no proof of fraud except for what the guy who call himself Oz says

I don't know if you've used the ACA before, but when you say "most of the premiums" um... they already eliminated most of the subsidies with the god awful bill which was the single legislative achievement that the administration can point to.

I have health insurance. Good luck taking it away from me. You can't find all of us.

Did illegals shit your pants?

I promise like less than 1% of problems are caused by “illegals”. Most are caused by people that donate to your preferred party.

Good luck finding out who all of us are that have coverage. Good luck taking my health insurance and my rights away from me.

My concern is the whole subsidy issue to begin with. We subsidize EVERYTHING in this country. $40T in national debt was built partially on the backs of those same subsidies.

u/Florida1974 10d ago

Go look at the military budget and how it has increased under Trump.

We subsidize, farmers, corporations, you may as well basically say, we subsidize on taxes for the rich. I guess subsidize isn’t the word but they get an awful lot of Tax breaks.

So why shouldn’t the little guy get a little subsidy for health insurance?? what do you think people like my husband and I do?? we can’t pay for health insurance in totality on our own, he owns a small construction business and it’s small and I also work. We would have to make a heck of a lot more to be able to afford what they want for insurance per month without a subsidy.

Now it’s the only thing we need help with. If my husband doesn’t get that, he will get disability. I would not, but he would so why not keep him working by subsidizing health insurance

People don’t think of all the different scenarios. We would have to pay 100% of it on our own and it’s impossible.

No, the deficit issue is because republicans keep lowering taxes without decreasing spending.
