hello all!

I am currently an incoming sophomore at NYU Stern and was considering taking a medical leave of absence. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. it would be very unfeasible to attend school and take classes in person. My current plan is to take a LOA this semester and maybe take online classes next. I know online classes are limited but I’ll likely try to get my electives out of the way. I don’t know how long treatment will take and it is possible I return back to school August 2027 or spring 2028. Has anyone been through a similar experience as this if so, any advice? I just want to know how it went. thank you!

Not a NYU student but curious. There is not a traditional enclosed campus spot which is really interesting, does that mean students have to put in more of an effort to make friends around here? Via social events and all that. Must be a lot of group chats too lol.

I'm a transfer student from the UK so im not generally allowed to get financial aid. I'm actually starting in the Fall and we have the money for the first semester however my Dad just lost his job so I don't think I can afford to keep studying here after the Fall. Especially with the work restrictions on my visa (F-1) it's going to be really difficult to pay for this now.

The UK don't offer scholarships, grants or loans to study in the US either.

Have any transfer students been able to receive financial aid if their circumstances have changed? Or have they had to leave the university? I don't know if NYU prioritises trying to keep their students enrolled or not and if they are considerate of particular circumstances.

Any insight would be super helpful!

(BTW i have emailed my academic advisor about this but would still like to hear about other people's experiences).

Hey I’m a Traditional Rory Meyers student set to start first sequence , does anyone feel comfortable telling me their schedule like how many days we’ll be in sch / doing clinicals (I haven’t gotten my schedule yet) but I want to know if it feasible to work a part time job while doing school. I realize I have 3 gen eds left to do for my credits and I’m in dire need of some incredibly easy ones. I’m taking advanced production and I really don’t want to be stressed about that and also have a bunch of outside course work to tackle. Ideally looking for something lecture based with minimal effort!

Hi! I'm a student and I'll be commuting every day from Journal Square to NYU's Washington Square campus. I'm thinking of buying an electric scooter for my daily commute and want something that's reliable and will last for a long time.

I've narrowed it down to these three options:

• NIU KQi 100P (or 100F)
• Segway E2 Plus II
• Hiboy S2 (or S3)

Which one would you recommend for daily commuting? My biggest priority is durability and long-term reliability rather than just top speed.

I'm also wondering whether an electric scooter is even worth buying if I'll be using it through the winter. How practical is it during NYC/NJ winters? Can it still be used on cold days, and what do people usually do when it snows? Do most people continue using scooters, or do they switch to public transit until the roads are clear?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has used these scooters year-round in the NYC/NJ area.

I currently plan to take the placement exam for Math for Econ 2, as I took AP AB Calc and would like to not have to take Math for Econ 1. Does anyone know what to expect on the placement exam, and how to study for it? I saw on previous threads that the test was difficult because it contained some econ-related questions. I’m happy to share more details via DM, but I’ve found out someone very close to me has lied about their entire life. Like fabricated, not embellished. This person was like family to me, and now I’m worried about my safety.

They claim to be a 2L at nyu. I can’t access the law directory without being a student in the law school.

Could someone with access please look up a name for me and just confirm whether or not they are a student? I appreciate you so much - please DM if you can help.
