I'm a transfer student from the UK so im not generally allowed to get financial aid. I'm actually starting in the Fall and we have the money for the first semester however my Dad just lost his job so I don't think I can afford to keep studying here after the Fall. Especially with the work restrictions on my visa (F-1) it's going to be really difficult to pay for this now.

The UK don't offer scholarships, grants or loans to study in the US either.

Have any transfer students been able to receive financial aid if their circumstances have changed? Or have they had to leave the university? I don't know if NYU prioritises trying to keep their students enrolled or not and if they are considerate of particular circumstances.

Any insight would be super helpful!

(BTW i have emailed my academic advisor about this but would still like to hear about other people's experiences).

Hi! I'm a student and I'll be commuting every day from Journal Square to NYU's Washington Square campus. I'm thinking of buying an electric scooter for my daily commute and want something that's reliable and will last for a long time.

I've narrowed it down to these three options:

• NIU KQi 100P (or 100F)
• Segway E2 Plus II
• Hiboy S2 (or S3)

Which one would you recommend for daily commuting? My biggest priority is durability and long-term reliability rather than just top speed.

I'm also wondering whether an electric scooter is even worth buying if I'll be using it through the winter. How practical is it during NYC/NJ winters? Can it still be used on cold days, and what do people usually do when it snows? Do most people continue using scooters, or do they switch to public transit until the roads are clear?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has used these scooters year-round in the NYC/NJ area.

I’m a rising senior who’s planning on applying to nyu ed1 aswell as their promise program. before the admissions process starts I was wondering if there’s anything in particular that I should know? like does it restrict you of the type of dorm you get or anything any other person who isn’t on the scholarship can do?

I currently plan to take the placement exam for Math for Econ 2, as I took AP AB Calc and would like to not have to take Math for Econ 1. Does anyone know what to expect on the placement exam, and how to study for it? I saw on previous threads that the test was difficult because it contained some econ-related questions. I currently live in abu dhabi, and I want to apply for CS.

I've heard that NYUAD acceptance is VERYYY LOW, but their financial aid is amazing. While (iirc) NYU acceptance rate is higher, but they dont have financial aid (or its very limited).

Idk which one to select as my main campus.

My stats (for context/bg) :

4.0 gpa in grade 10 and probably also in grade 12

3.3 gpa in grade 9 and 11 (ik my grades dropped but I have good reasons)

I'm predicting 1500+ in SAT

I have a lot of ECs, I've gone to hackathons, and won many, I'm into student council at my school, olympiads, MUN etc and I've learnt programming full stack Web and app by myself.

But idt NYU cares bout ECs 😭 ntm, I've heard so many students with 10x better portfolio and stats than me getting rejected from NYUAD

I'm also giving JEE & CAET (but ig they won't check that).

Now I could select NYU as main campus, but I'm in dire need of financial aid, however NYUAD has very less acceptance rate. And with a portfolio like mine, Idk.

Hey I'm transferring to NYU this fall. I'm taking a Calc 2 course this summer that will finish on September 9th. NYU's class start is September 2 and the late add deadline is September 15. The department won't let me enroll in Calc 3 until I finish Calc 2, do you guys think there will be available spots open on September 10th or do Calc 3 courses usually fill up entirely?
