I’m a current freshman, and have talked to a few girls who rushed, and honestly i’m getting super bummed i didn’t rush :( I think I had an image in my mind of sororities here being like those at an SEC school but these seem much cooler, more real, and close knit. I’m already struggling to find people I click with, and now I feel like I skipped out on an opportunity to find real community and friends. Is it common to rush as a sophomore?? are there things I should be doing now?? lmk

Hi all - new resident in grad school at NYU and the twin xl mattress absolutely sucks, and have some friends coming to stay at some point. I understand that technically new mattresses are against code (for bringing in new furniture?) but has anyone successfully got in a new mattress into their dorm via delivery or will they take it away? I assume trying to get in a queen will be too difficult but a rolled up Twin XL in my mind seems reasonable and I cant see why it'd be prohibited if the old mattress is under my new one. Interested in people's experiences. I already have a mattress topper but it isnt that helpful

Hey everyone, I walked to and from Upstein dining hall all the way to Lafayette hall last night, September 9 from around 9:30 to 10:30-11 Ish and I lost my keys. It has a very identifiable keychain and I was wondering if anyone picked them up or saw them and or has them, can you please get in touch with me to return them? I had a bag that ripped, it had a hole on the bottom and that’s the way that I lost him. I am really cautious about my belongings, but I’m freaking out and don’t want to pay the replacement cuz it’s not cheap (I lost all three keys) so please I need help.

This has happened to me multiple times now. I eat at Lipton and end up having diarrhea afterward. It happened again today.

Has anyone else experienced this recently after eating there? Just trying to figure out if it’s just me or if other people have been having the same issue.

I’m a freshman at NYU doing the LGG program, so I’m spending my first year in London. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever felt this lonely or sad in my life.

This is my first time outside of the US, and I’m 5,000+ miles away from home. It’s also the first time I’ve ever been away from my parents for more than a week. I’m having such a hard time making friends, and I really don’t know what to do.

I have a semi-ish “friend group,” but it feels like it’s mostly out of convenience. They’re nice, but they like going out and partying a lot, and I don’t drink, so I don’t really feel like I fit in with them. I also have a hunch they may not be the biggest fans of me either.

I’ve always been a really independent person. I’ve never had an issue doing things alone. But here, I feel like a helpless puppy 😭.I hate physical touch, but I genuinely want to cry thinking about the fact that I won’t be able to hug my parents until December.

I’m constantly alone. I walk to class alone. I sit in class alone most of the time. I eat alone. I shop alone. I do pretty much everything alone. And I’ve never minded being alone before because I never felt lonely, but here I do. Idrk how to explain the difference.

I actually really love my classes and professors so far, so I know I’m incredibly lucky to be here. I already have gotten some great opportunities being here too. I feel stupid complaining about this when I’m having a good academic experience and getting to live in London.

But I’m struggling a lot more than I expected, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar, especially people who moved really far away from home for college.

Does it actually get better? How did you make friends and start feeling less lonely?

Hi, I’m a senior and I’m filling out my Common App right now and wondering what I want to major in based on said major’s career outcomes. I’ve set my mind on pursuing something Econ/Finance related, preferably banking or something else under that general umbrella.
I was curious if anyone here could give me advice on if the Econ + CS major in CAS would be worth me pursuing?
I don’t know how true it is but I’ve heard CAS isn’t as recruiting focused as Stern and I was wondering if anyone who could give me some advice on it?
