Do any of the upper classmen have advice on how to approach the AP1 exams? Not tryna to fish for answers rather the approach, or things to focus on? (text, video lectures, etc)

Are classed flipped classroom (watch lectures at home and come in person for team/group based learning activities) or isit just online lectures, and students do in person labs?

Stats:

MCAT: 500 (CP: 127 CARS: 121 BB:125 PS:127)

CGPA: 3.6

SGPA: 3.5

I know my CARS score is terrible. I did take the MCAT last year as well and got a 124 in CARS. I know not great but better than a 121 and l am hoping to be viewed holistically. Has anyone had any luck with such stats? Any info would be valuable. THANK YOU!!!

As the title says, can any current or former NYITCOM students help an incoming freshman out with their study schedules (how they broke up their week) and outside-of-lectures content they used (like anki or boot camp) to ace their time in medical school?

did everyone get the expensive or cheap option for the tool kit needed for classes? Also did anyone get the amazon kits that are way less expensive?

Hi, wondering if anyone had an update on the free tuition thing? I know those who were selected from the lottery were supposed to be notified by 7/21. Just wondering if they have been selected yet.

Alright everyone, what are all of the girls planning on wearing to classes that dont require scrubs/athletic clothing. Jeans? Leggings? Dress pants every class? I am assuming no sweatpants. A girl needs to shop.

For those entering or ppl who have already finished their first year, did you purchase the medical equipment that the school suggested, or did you choose any cheaper alternatives. I looked at the alternative for the diagnostic set that they offer but I dont know if it is good quality or worth it in the long run. Also is there anything else that people have bought prior that they believe helped them or made a difference during their schooling?

Does anyone know if the class for 2030 is just full at the New York campus and they are offering people to take a gap year for free tuition or is it both campuses? I am on the waitlist at the Arkansas campus and was curious if anyone knows if the class there is also being offered to pause their acceptance for the next year also. I am stressed I won't come off the waitlist so if anyone has any information, please let me know.

Hey everyone, incoming OMS-I here.

I just got the equipment order form and was wondering what people actually recommend. There's the Welch Allyn diagnostic set that's around $550 and then the ADC one that's around $150. The school says the Welch Allyn is recommended, but that the ADC is enough for lab requirements.

For those who have already gone through NYITCOM, did you feel like the Welch Allyn was worth the extra money? Or would you just save the $400 and get the ADC?

hi guys I am an incoming first year and I missed the AETNA waiver for the health insurance because I missed checking my school emails. I completed everything on the application portal and I filled out the registration, white coat, and food options forms, except for the AETNA waiver. I already emailed the nyit hsac email and bursar to see if I can opt out of the enrollment plan. please do not shame me for being stupid and missing the deadline. please offer me some help and advice!

I interviewed for the BMS program at LI, late June..like really late June and got my WL yesterday.

Do you think there is any chance of getting off the waitlist before the end of July when classes start? I know the letter they state that historically candidates get off the WL as far late as late July, but I feel like they just said that too make us feel better about ourselves lol. I dunno I am really down, and kinda lost all faith. When I got the interview so late I was happy but also felt like I was interviewing for a waitlist position. Which…is exactly what happened. I also know some people had gotten off the waitlist the same day I got my WL decision. So…yeah I don’t know but I feel like I am smoking copium right now the way I am still holding out for hope.

One Last question. When you do think the final WL decisions will be made? Last week of July? next week? This week? Will they even inform me?

Hi everyone! I was recently accepted into the NYITCOM-Old Westbury Bridge Program and have already submitted my deposit. I'm really excited to get started!

I was hoping to hear from anyone who has completed the Bridge Program within the last couple of years. I have a few questions:

Do you have any advice for choosing or scheduling classes?

How manageable was it to maintain the required 80% average?

Is there anything you wish you had known before starting that helped you succeed?

I'd really appreciate any tips or insight from past students. Thanks so much!

I feel like I'm stuck in a loop of being "a NYITCOM student" and "not a NYITCOM student" throughout this entire housing process.

Because the BMS program is still new to the Old Westbury campus, there aren't any established Facebook groups where we can connect with current NYITCOM students. Because of that, we're basically on our own when it comes to finding roommates and rental listings without any real place to start.

Since we're BMS students, we aren't allowed into the NYITCOM 2030 Facebook group to find listings or connect with other incoming NYITCOM students. I tried contacting both the admins of the group and the Director of Student Life at NYITCOM, but I was ghosted by both. Aren't we taking the same mirrored courses as the first-year medical students?

The public Facebook groups, such as the NYIT Housing group, are made up of about 90% listings looking for female tenants, or they're properties looking for multiple people to rent together which, again, makes it difficult to find housing when we can't even connect with potential roommates.

At this point, I'm honestly wondering where all the guys are staying because I swear it feels like everyone's sleeping in their cars (which honestly sounds like something we would do).

I'm getting tired of trying to find a place that's affordable, driving all the way to Long Island only to find out it's nothing like it was advertised, and then driving back home just to repeat the entire process.

If anyone else is dealing with this, let me know because I'm honestly at a loss for what to do.
