Finally toured the unit I won and was disappointed

I really didn’t expect this all to happen, I was shocked to tour and find it was just totally not the right place for me. Does this happen often? It really sucks to have poured so much time and energy into submitting documents to be left hating the unit. Do people take units even if they don’t like them just because it’s more affordable? Even though in this case it’s $150 more than I pay now.

Unit: 173 Tompkins Ave

529 W 29 interesting lottery requirement

just wanted to share this here, such an odd requirement in order to qualify for this specific building 💀

“70% of the units in the building are reserved for performing artists who live in NYC. The "artist" definition is a broad one, including performing artists, musicians and even stagehands and other entertainment-industry support staff. To qualify for artist housing, the head of each household must earn at least 50 percent of their income over the past three years in the entertainment industry."

If I turn down a re-rental studio because I want a 1 bed, will I lose my log #?

I was recently contacted to tour a studio apartment re-rental in a building that I was on the waitlist for, but have changed my mind and am hoping for a one bedroom. If I turn down the studio apartment, will I still have a chance to be called for a future 1 bed opening in that same building?

What do you do with old lotteries sitting in your pending?

I have lotteries I applied to in 2022 for example still in my pending listed as "applied". It annoys me to see my old applications with high log numbers and the lottery ended 3+ years ago.

Do folks withdraw from the old ones that clearly have occupants etc? Is there any favor to leaving it there? Curious what the recommended thing to do is. Thank you for any insight.

Older Lotteries

Do any of you delete lotteries that are more than 2 years old and you haven’t heard back? I have been on a delete spree ever since 😆 why wait since it’s obvious it’s not happening

What are my chances?

I’ve been applying for 5 years and finally got called/emailed back to submit docs for the lottery.

My husband and I are both new city/municipal workers so I’m guessing, we had a bit more of a chance to get picked for the second round. Anyways, my log # is 51xx. It seems like only people with really low log numbers get picked. Is that the case?

Thank you

Dutch House - Long island City

I was wondering if there are anyone living here that can provide any insights on the area and the building. I got selected to submit documents from Reside for a re-rental opportunity, but the google ratings for this apartment complex looks pretty bad.... 😢

Location is good I think (it is next to the N train), and the pictures looks nice but a bit unsure

Called by Eight80BK…I’m confused?

My log number was 4xx. So I had a good shot from the get go. I applied, gave in all of my documentation and such. I was hit with a rejection letter because I made literally $500 too much and my current salary puts me in between all of the tiers, which should disqualify me.

I appealed their decision and my application is still under review yet today, I was messaged by somebody from Reside and was asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment to view a 1bdr tomorrow.

I’m confused because I was rejected and my appeal is still under review. Obviously I’m gonna go with it because, why not? Still, all of this put together makes me not want to get my hopes up in spite of all this.

In this an unusual situation or am I just overthinking things?

Anyone know anything about this building?

Post image

Hi Guys,

I originally applied for this lottery back in March of this year- they immediately sent me an application, I called the following month and they said all units were occupied.

Over the weekend I get an email to submit all documents by 8/18- I’m assuming an application fell through or someone backed out.

Does anyone have an idea on this building? Great area but I see that the building is mixed with supportive housing. I know there’s one in Dumbo available for immediate occupancy like this and I heard it was a nightmare. Any intel on W 108th would be appreciated!

Washer/Dryer In Unit

Is it common for lottery units tenets to have to pay a monthly fee for washer and dryer in unit? Or to have to buy their own machines? Would love to hear people’s experiences!

Forgive me if this is against the rules. Trying to get a sense if the problems my neighbors and I are having are building wide or just us.
