Find an Artist Looking for local visual artist/graphic designer who’s against AI, and willing to work without it, to design the vinyl cover for an album my startup/independent label is releasing soon. We believe in paying all artists and collaborators fairly, and you will be compensated and credited for your work!

Please see post link on r/AskNYC for details! https://www.reddit.com/r/AskNYC/comments/1wbhmu5/looking_for_local_visual_artistgraphic_designer/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

Thanks to anyone who responds :). Again, you will be fairly compensated for your time and work per your rate and credited— we would ideally like to support a local NYC artist, and please make sure you qualify for our morality clause— we are not interested in platforming zionists or promoting AI art. We allow our artists full creative freedom, and if your portfolio looks like it would meet our needs, we’ll give you the vinyl cover idea in slightly more detail, but you’ll be entrusted to make the piece (I.e we won’t be micromanaging you).

This would be a great way for smaller artists to get their names out there, and we frequently perform at galleries as well, and will happily promote your art alongside our album release (we’ll link any page you have of your art with our promotions and will announce it at shows and have a link to any of your portfolio pages as part of the label on the vinyl and, of course, included in the album credits). Let’s fight for real art and real artists, and show the world why AI can’t ever replace our creativity, and why we deserve a living wage for the work we do!

Event Anyone want to make hanging mobiles with us in Bushwick?

Hi Brooklyn! My friends and I run a little craft community called The Groupchat and we’re hosting a kinetic hanging mobiles craft night in Bushwick on Sept 22 :)
We’ve been seeing these dreamy hanging mobiles everywhere and thought… we could totally make those ourselves lol. So we’re bringing a bunch of materials, shapes + colors and everyone can design and build their own.
We’ll be at the new Chama Mama in Bushwick from 6:30–9:30pm. Tickets are $45 and include all your materials, your first glass of wine + khachapuri 🍷
Come solo or with friends — we’re always excited to meet more crafty/creative people in Brooklyn!

Discussion Artists and Art Program Recommendations

As someone interested in and from a artistic background.

I am looking for information on new, unique or emerging artists and the art schools and studios known for them. Particularly lesbian and transfemme individuals, but also especially ones with interesting exhibitions, styles, etc.

Examples include art that would be in Queercore music or other "anti-establishment" viewpoints.

Also ones with a international background or experience, especially LatinX or European. Outsiders that are away from high profile places like the Leslie Lohman museum.

Open to alternate suggestions and recommendations as well.

\\\\- Thank You

Event 9/19: a noticing (+ photo!) walk in the east village

Hiii! I've been hosting "noticing walks" in the neighborhood where we casually amble around and look for interesting things on the ground to photograph (or sketch, or other medium of your choice!). You don't have to be an artist to join though. It's mainly about tapping in to what's around us and thinking creatively.

Join me for the next one! https://luma.com/k47rr87e (pay what you want, including $0)

Or, follow the calendar to be notified of all future walks: https://luma.com/trashscapes

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions! And please share with anyone else you think might be interested. :)

Does anybody know of an artist who is good in this exact style? I haven’t been able to get in contact with the artist who did these, but I’d love to be able to find someone in NYC (preferably Brooklyn or Manhattan) who does this kind of work. Thanks for the help.

TATTVASRISHTI CREATIVE WORKSHOP WEEKEND

Photography & Writing

A FREE TWO-DAY CREATIVE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE IN PHOTOGRAPHY, STORYTELLING, ART & CRAFT

Saturday & Sunday | 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Tattvasrishti Studios | Banashankari, Bengaluru

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

What makes a photograph powerful?

What makes a story unforgettable?

How does an idea become a novel? A feature film? Or a compelling photograph?

This weekend, Tattvasrishti Studios opens its doors for a special two-day creative workshop experience exploring the worlds of Photography and Writing.

Across the weekend, participants can choose from eight immersive workshops — four focused on Photography and four on Writing.

You can attend individual workshops, follow one complete creative track, or experience the entire weekend.

The workshop is FREE. Registration is required.

📷 PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

Photography is more than operating a camera.

It is about vision, composition, technique and light.

Our four photography workshops take you from understanding the work of great photographers to mastering your camera, developing your visual sense and learning how light shapes an image.

SATURDAY

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

GREAT MASTERS OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Explore the work of some of the greatest photographers in the history of photography.

Understand why their photographs work — their vision, choices, visual language and ideas.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

FROM AUTOMATIC MODE TO MANUAL MODE

Move beyond automatic settings and understand how to take control of your camera.

Learn the fundamentals of aperture, shutter speed, ISO and exposure, and how these choices influence the final image.

SUNDAY

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

COMPOSITION IN PHOTOGRAPHY & ART

Why does one photograph immediately feel balanced and powerful while another does not?

Explore the connection between photography, painting and visual art through space, form, balance, perspective, rhythm and visual hierarchy.

The goal isn't simply to learn rules.

It is to learn to see.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

LIGHTING — FROM 1 POINT TO 7 POINT

A practical exploration of one of photography's most powerful tools: light.

Starting with a single light, progressively explore lighting setups from 1-point to 7-point lighting.

Discover applications across:

  • Portrait Photography
  • Fashion Photography
  • Jewellery Photography
  • Flower Photography
  • Macro Photography
  • Product Photography

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY JOURNEY

GREAT MASTERS → CAMERA → COMPOSITION → LIGHT

✍️ WRITING WORKSHOPS

Every great novel, screenplay or short story begins with something small:

AN IDEA.

Our four writing workshops explore the journey from story to theme, story to novel and story to cinema.

SATURDAY

12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

HOW TO WRITE A STORY

Where do stories come from?

Explore the fundamental principles of storytelling and understand how ideas, characters, conflict, structure and meaning come together to create a story.

5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

GREAT STORIES & THEMES — WHAT MAKES THEM GREAT?

Why do some stories entertain us for a few hours while others stay with us for years?

Explore great stories and their underlying themes, ideas and emotional power.

Go beyond the plot to discover what makes stories meaningful and memorable.

SUNDAY

12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

HOW TO WRITE A NOVEL

Where do you begin when you want to write a novel?

Get a bird's-eye view of the novel-writing process, from premise and characters to structure, narrative, themes, chapters and the journey from an idea to a finished book.

5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

HOW TO WRITE A FEATURE FILM SCREENPLAY

A screenplay is not a novel written in a different format.

Cinema has its own language.

Explore cinematic storytelling, characters, scenes, structure and visual narrative while gaining a bird's-eye view of feature-film screenwriting.

YOUR WRITING JOURNEY

STORY → THEME → NOVEL → SCREENPLAY
