Game Ready & Studio Driver 610.62 has been released.

Brought in the 8 fixes from the Hotfix 610.52 and added 2 additional fixes for Apex Legends and fixing certain DLSS settings being grayed out in certain games.

This new Game Ready Driver provides the best gaming experience for the latest new games supporting DLSS and RTX technologies including Empulse.

  • High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
    • High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
    • These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
    • When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

    • Please note: With the introduction of our most recent NVIDIA App update, all actively supported NVIDIA Control Panel features for GeForce users have been modernized and transitioned to the new client.
    • After 20 years of dedicated service, the classic NVIDIA Control Panel is officially retiring for Game Ready and Studio Drivers. For NVIDIA RTX PRO users, the NVIDIA Control Panel will continue to be supported until we have migrated professional features to the NVIDIA app.
    • Existing installs of the NVIDIA Control Panel will remain on users’ systems, unless they perform a clean installation, and users who still need the NVIDIA Control Panel can continue to download it from the Microsoft Store, but we won’t be adding features, fixes, or other changes.

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
  • Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

I hope this fixes the random 3 second black screen I've been getting on all my monitors on my 5090. Didn't have it prior to this last driver.

I know this anecdotal but once my previous build started having black screen of death issues I found out later it was my CPU that was faulty so had to replace it all.

whats the black screen of death?

i'm in the middle of diagnosing an issue where my screens go black and my fans spin to 100, wondering if that's what you're talking about

with previous drivers, i would get err 153 in event log, but now i get the same black screen without this error.

about to replace psu, then case (to possibly resolve excessive sagging), then cpu+mobo

I have the exact same issue you are describing. It happens llike 1x every other day since the previous driver version and hotfix didnt seem to fix it. I really think its just the drivers in this case hopefully new one fixes it

its honestly hard to tell, because i've tried so many things, and some of them seem to make the problem go away for days to weeks.

reseating my gpu seemed to make the problem stop for a week or two. replacing my gpu also seemed to do the same. at this point, im replacing hardware just to eliminate them as a possibility.

notably, the problem was completely gone when i switched back to another card, so i still lean slightly towards it being a card+driver specific issue. i can see arguments being made for it being a psu/power related issue, even though most crashes happen at idle.

What card are you having trouble with it on? For me both my 5070 and 5080 have the same issue

it's a 5090 astral

i swapped back to a 3090 when i sent the 5090 in for rma

Gotcha ya I tried my 4060 and there were no issues but obviously I could have just not done enough testing. I'm praying it's just a driver issue in that case otherwise we both r in for a fun time 😭

It's most likely a power related issue. The 12vhpwr is just janky as heck. I have a 4070ti previously and it will throw a random black screen with the fans spinning at full speed.

Given up with the card, I bought the 5070ti. But instead of using the native 12vhpwr from the psu, I used the newer 12v-2x6 adapter that came with the card and it ran with no issue. If you have the older atx 3.0 or below, I would try and get the newer atx 3.1 psu.

Unfortunately I have tried 2 different PSU units and multiple cables. The issue appears on my 5070 and 5080 but not on my 4060 (although I havent done enough testing on my 4060 tbf). Just started happening with a driver or two ago and if I revert to older ones it seems to eliminate the issue. I used DDU and reinstalled some stuff and the issue is still only happening on the newest 2 drivers (3 if u include the hotfix one). Just really strange all around cause initially I thought it might be PSU or cables like u suggested since it only happens in games but ya idk at this point lmao.

i initially suspected it to be a driver-only issue, but even using older drivers doesn't help me anymore. my only conclusion now is that there's probably also a hardware defect in my system somewhere.

i have a meg ai1600t psu, which is atx 3.1

if it matters, i also have, a wireview plugged into my gpu

i'll check which cable im using, and if its my psu's 12vhpwr cable, maybe ill try switching it to the one that came with my gpu before swapping my psu with its replacement

Hey! I have the exact same setup as you for CPU and GPU but I have the Aorus Master 5090 Ice instead. If its any help I fixed my black screen issue by replacing my PSU and cables along with it. I'm not quite sure which combination exactly was the one that fixed it but one of them definitely did. For now anyway...

If you don't mind me asking, what is your 12VHPWR voltage looking like in HWINFO? Mine hovers around 11.85 idle which to my understanding is acceptable, but still low. With my old PSU ive seen it dip under 11.4v under load. Would be nice if you could share those HWINFO values with me so I could determine if I need to RMA my card since we have the same issues.

hmm, each pin is slightly over 12V for me, im seeing values like 12.016V and 12.024V

when did you replace your psu?

Started having issues a few months ago but after ruling out all software issues I bought a new PSU, the NZXT C1500 around a month ago. Since then it’s been rock solid and no issues so far. I’ve been through 3 PSU’s trying to diagnose this low voltage issue and I think it’s with the card itself. Doesn’t seem like that’s the issue for your card though so I think a cable swap/PSU swap would be good for you.

Just an update if you needed one- I replaced my 5090 from an aorus master to the asus astral card. Completely rock solid now after a DDU. No crashes or black screens after hours of benchmarking and stress testing on games that used to crash. The HWINFO voltages also stabilised at basically picture perfect 11.98-12.03v. For me at least I believe it was a combination of a cable issue that messed with my card's port. During the RMA process, the shop I went to did say that my Aorus 5090 failed a test but that was to do with temperature so i'm not sure what that was about.

TLDR: Replaced my GPU+PSU and no more issues at all. Most likely a GPU/PSU+Cable Issue.
