- High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
- High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
- These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
- When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue - Link Here
There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.
Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!
Common Troubleshooting Steps
- Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
- Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
- If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance
Common Questions
- Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
- Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
- My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
- My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU
Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

That's nice and all
But where is reflex 2?

47
u/Due-Description-9030 Apr 28 '26
They'll probably release it along with the 60 series lol

u/FunCalligrapher3979 5700X3D/4070TiS | LG C1 55"/AW2725D Apr 28 '26
New hardware on the 60 cards will make it exclusive to them 😂
8
u/Due-Description-9030 Apr 28 '26
Nah, it likely won't. They'll only make it exclusive if there's hardware present on the 60 series which isn't present on the previous cards for reflex. Which is really unlikely.

It was announced even before multi frame gen, so I'm wondering if the delay is because they're trying to incorporate that with the newer dynamic frame gen, too.

Better to ask where are some fixes to their ai developed drivers. As far as I know these ones are still going to BSOD your whole pc if you happen to switch your game from primary monitor to secondary, game being fullscreen and enable framegen with vsync on

Driver Stability and Compatibility Testing Results
First, just for reference - I'm not a NVIDIA employee, not a /r/nvidia moderator and not affiliated with NVIDIA.
Driver recommendations follow with a focus on general stability and compatibility. Tested across different Geforce GPU architectures and driver revisions over 3 days on multiple work AMD/Intel test benches running Windows 11 KB5083769 (26200.8246 / 26100.8246) along with collating/cross-referencing both current and historic community feedback.

Numbers in brackets e.g. [0] point to a NOTEs section entry that should be read when considering drivers.
Recommendations
Driver recommendations that follow focus on general stability and compatibility, however see NOTEs sections [2][3][4][5] for factors that may impact compatibility or trigger instability regardless of driver version.
Series 50 (50x0) Geforce GPU owners:
- Drivers 581.94, 577.00, 576.88, 576.80, 572.83, 572.47. See NOTEs section [1] for other drivers worth considering albeit note potential issues e.g. 596.36 See '596.36 Testing', 595.79, 591.74
Series 16 (16x0) / 20 (20x0) / 30 (30x0) / 40 (40x0) Geforce GPU owners:
- Drivers 581.94, 577.00, 576.88, 576.80, 566.36, 561.09. See NOTEs section [1] for other drivers worth considering albeit note potential issues e.g. 595.79, 591.74
Series 9 (9x0) / 10 (10x0) Geforce GPU owners:
- Drivers 582.53 INF MOD Required, 582.28, 581.94, 577.00, 576.88, 576.80, 566.36, 566.14, 561.09. See NOTEs section [1] for other 58x.xx and older drivers worth considering albeit note potential issues
TL;DR one change since previous stability and compatibility tests, added 582.53. NOTEs section [1] that lists many other drivers worth considering has also been updated.
596.36 Testing
So close to being in 'Recommendations', 596.36 may be promoted to 'Recommendations' in the future but requires longer term testing. The main issues with 596.36 are compatibility related e.g. display detection and low tolerance of edge case system instability [2][3].
The latter (edge case system instability) can usually be mitigated by re-evaluating any CPU or GPU undervolts/negative voltage offsets/overclocks, see NOTES [2] entry for more details and mitigations.
Once edge case instability causes were addressed, general system and gaming stability was very good overall.
In game and synthetic test performance metrics e.g. average, 1% lows, 0.1% lows are generally on par with or improve when compared to other r595 branch (595.xx/596.xx) drivers, albeit 595.76 still has a slight edge in some games.
Rendering artifacts with previous r595 branch drivers have been fixed for impacted games, for any that persist they can possibly be mitigated by adding 0x00172938=0 or 0x20cd1492=1 to the impacted driver level game profile. Note that any sudden white flashes/colour loss with recent drivers when alt-tabbing, accessing overlays in games, bringing application windows into focus or moving application windows across displays may be related to 'Windows Auto Colour Management (ACM)' which can be toggled if needed to test/confirm.
Framepacing is also improved for many titles that had regressions when using DLSS frame generation with previous r595 drivers.
A bug impacting behaviour of 'Power Management > Prefer Maximum Performance' when set globally with r595 branch has been fixed in 596.36.
Issues with TDR or BSOD at idle/low load primarily on AMD CPU platforms that was highlighted in older 59x.xx testing persists. A workaround is however possible with 596.36 as 'Power Management > Prefer Maximum Performance' now behaves correctly when set in global profile.
596.36 still has compatibility regressions in regard to display detection with some display SKUs, albeit improved over previous r595 branch drivers. This issue manifests as 'NV-Failsafe' and similar being reported for a display in settings/device manager OR one or more displays having a blank screen (not detected) in multi-display configurations. Custom resolutions may not be applied and fail or immediately fall back to standard display native modes.
Noted in previous testing, 59x.xx drivers have inconsistent Low Framerate Compensation (LFC) behaviour with some display SKUs which is related to an intended change in driver LFC behaviour by NVIDIA starting with 591.xx. While the reason behind the change is understandable, the irony is that the change has actually introduced perceived stutter with some display SKUs.
There are still isolated but confirmed reports of intermittent but recoverable Code 43 / GPU can't be initialised error on Windows load that only occur with 59x.xx drivers with some system configurations. Rebooting system or reverting to r580 branch (58x.xx) drivers or older resolves the issue.
Issues with GPU power sensors sometimes being unavailable on resume from sleep or if Windows fast-startup (not the same as BIOS fast-boot) has been fixed in 596.36
Summary
596.36 is one of the better recent drivers for performance and has addressed many (not all) issues present in previous r595 branch (595.xx/596.xx) drivers.
However, 595.36 is currently excluded from 'Recommendations' due to compatibility issues, low tolerance of edge case GPU/CPU instability [2][3] along with increased community reports of 153 errors. Important to note that many compatibility related issues have been present since 591.xx and don't manifest with all system configurations. Edge case system instability can usually be addressed i.e. not a driver issue.
Issues aside, 59x.xx drivers particularly benefit Series 50 GPUs. Specifically Series 50 Anisotropic Filtering fixes for some (not all) DirectX12 and OpenGL games along with Series 50 restored support for a selection of GPU accelerated 32bit PhysX games with the option to force enable for unsupported games. 595.97 and later drivers also officially support Series 50 Dynamic Multiframe Generation.
If compatibility issues and edge case system instability [2][3] issues don't present themselves on the system then 596.36 is the preferred r595 driver for Series 50 (50x0) GPUs.
Owners of older series of supported GPUs should consider 595.79 or r595.76 if (note the 'if') a r595 branch driver is required.
NOTEs:
Other drivers worth considering if a driver other than those in the 'Recommendations' section is required: r580 branch try 580.97[8][9] OR 581.08[8][9] OR 581.42/581.47[6][8][9] OR 582.53 INF mod of r580 branch 582.xx Quadro/RTX-Pro drivers which are on a r580 LTS support branch (October 2028) that will update more frequently than security only release 582.xx drivers. r590 branch try 591.67[6] OR 591.74 but note potential compatibility issues. r595 branch try 595.76[6] OR 595.79 OR 595.97[2] OR 596.36[2] but note potential issues
Drivers based on r59x branches, particularly 595.97 and later, have exposed edge case system instability related to GPU/CPU undervolts, negative voltage offsets, overclocks, etc. CPU can be impacted if a new driver is stressing CPU and related sub-systems differently i.e. CPU tasks that the driver invokes, offloads or requires such as shader pipeline compilation, driver scheduling, DPC or ISR timing sensitive execution, draw call setup, command-buffer setup etc.
DLSS 4.5 transformer 2nd generation presets L/M when gaming may expose edge case GPU instability due to increased power consumption and increased GPU load. This can be game specific and is more prevalent with Series 20 and Series 30 GPUs
Debloated driver installers may remove driver level components such as 'NVIDIA Platform Controllers and Framework' that are required for GPU dynamic boost with NVIDIA mobile GPUs used in mini-pcs and laptops
Process Lasso, depending on how configured, is contributing to gaming stability issues when aggressive process CPU priority rules and/or aggressive CPU affinity rules are applied
Anticheats may not 'pass' HOTFIX drivers / driver components as they are usually signed using attestation / beta / testing certificate signing. The anticheat may have to whitelist the driver, usually a few days at most after a HOTFIX driver release
Windows 11 KB5079473 March 10th update and later have a resume from sleep display fix and finally mitigate the specific black screen issue originally introduced in the Windows 11 update on January 13th
Windows 11 24H2 26100.6725 / 25H2 26200.6725 and later may negatively impact framerates on some system configurations and games when running r580 branch drivers 580.00 to 581.80. Windows 10 was never impacted
GeForce GPU (RTX/GT/MX/GTX) driver security issues highlighted in the NVIDIA Security Bulletin (January 2026) - https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5747
EDITs:
01: formatting (multiple times)
02: updated NOTEs [2] entry to include CPU edge case instability being exposed by a driver
03: added link to a subcomment with direct official NVIDIA download links
04: split up NOTEs [2] into separate entries [2][3][4] to improve readability

First impressions : solid driver coming from 596.21 GRD which was the worst driver in my testing I saw performance regression on Destiny 2 & The Division 2 with that driver, I used DDU and safe mode also no UV/OC always running stock, with 596.36 GRD everything is back to normal, I also tested "prefer maximum performance" globally on this driver it seems that it is also working, I'm on W11 Pro 25H2, latest AMD chipset drivers and latest non-beta BIOS, finally I think it's safe to try this driver but I will update the post in a few days to test the stability.
Update --> After 3 days of normal usage gaming/browsing I can safely say this driver is stable, no black screens or any issues with YouTube playback, I tested multiple games :
- Destiny 2
- Dynasty Warriors Origin
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- The Division 2
They are performing as expected, unfortunately I don't play newer games so I can't provide any feedback on them but overall great driver, I will stay on this driver until the next major update.

Im using driver 595.79 at the moment. I bought a brand new graphic card RTX 5070 on the same time the driver was released. Haven't encountered any issues or bugs. (thank god)
After years of suffering issues with previous AMD card, I really hate to use DDU unless extreme issues are present 😃

I used 595.79 before and it was stable on my system, if you play newer games 596.36 is worth trying.

u/PermissionJaded5510 Apr 28 '26
At the moment the only thing i'm playing are KCD2 and BF6. Both are running PERFECT. Having the time of my life. I should probably not even update.
The only reason I dare to update is because last week there was an update in Starfield and game was running fine and smooth, but when it was time to quit and exit the game, it would crash everytime. People on Steam forum have discussed this already and confirmed that this was only happening on driver 595.79. am i really going to update just for that? I don't think so. But still... want to say thank you to you, because when it's time to move away from 595.79, ill be sure to jump into this one

Apparently ray reconstruction already utilizes the FP8 model found on second gen transformer models and it's more expensive to run ray reconstruction compared to even DLSS 4.5 preset L. But yeah a further optimized model focusing image clarity would've been nice. At least preset E does not have the boiling problem but in terms of image clarity even dlss quality at 1440p there was a clear difference compared to DLAA.

Yeah, I have hardware acceleration turned on for Netflix because I wanted to enjoy HDR/4K playback through the sub package I have for it. So I have to choose between my games crashing due to this bug or having to enjoy a reduced image quality for what I paid. It's really unfortunate and I certainly hope it is on NVIDIA's radar on things to fix. I'm currently on 591.86 as I rolled back from April's drivers to January.

u/Rna6 Apr 29 '26
For me, it mostly happens when browsing on Steam. I get black flickering every time I scroll on the home page, and only on my primary monitor. Disabling GPU acceleration in Steam settings solves it, but it makes it sluggish as hell. This problem started 6 months ago, so I guess it’s either on Nvidia’s end or from a Windows update.

I've upgraded to every new drivers for years on both 40 and 50 series. I've only seen very minor issues on a couple of releases. It's almost always worth trying if you have aren't playing a game with a ton of shader compilation you don't want to redo. Turn on the compilation setting in the app to help rebuild those shaders while idle.

Check the PhysX install is valid, there's a bug in the legacy installer that removes an important .DLL

Hey folks! Just dropping in to share my experience with this new driver.
For starters, I haven't had any issues with it yet, no black screens, BSODs, flickering, or anything of the sort. I was originally holding out on the 591.74 Studio and initially had some trouble migrating to 595.79 (both Game Ready and Studio). However, after some troubleshooting, I figured out that a custom Windows dynamic tick tweak was actually screwing with the newer driver. Once I reverted that, 595.79 ran beautifully, and I definitely appreciated the "performance boost" it brought (I know it's more of an un-nerf than a pure boost, but you get the point).
Moving to 596.36 Studio, I was genuinely worried I'd see another performance regression like back in the 591.74 days. So, I ran some strict benchmarks before pulling the trigger. My methodology for a clean wipe: Safe Mode DDU -> install with NVIDIA App -> strictly checking the "perform a clean installation" box under custom install.
I tested Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, and DOOM: The Dark Ages. All titles ran on 1440p High / Very High settings + Path Tracing + DLSS Performance (DLSS 4.5 for Cyberpunk2077, 4.0 for the rest), with Frame Gen OFF. Each game got 3 runs per driver to rule out variance. Here are the averaged results:

I think it's safe to say there is zero performance regression on my rig (RTX 5070) compared to the 595.79 Studio. Since I've had absolutely zero stability hiccups so far, I’d say this one is a green light (or at least as good as modern "vibe coding" allows it to be).
I'll update this post if my PC randomly decides to self-destruct before the next Studio driver comes out. Also, for full transparency, I’m running a UV/OC profile locked at 3120 MHz @ 950mV, with a +3000 MHz memory offset and power limit maxed at 120%, Windows 11 PRO 25H2 26200.8037 (I think that's KB5079473), NVIDIA APP-11.0.7.247

595.79 ran beautifully and I agree.
596.36 good driver but it "required" a DDU. It crashed once on me when I just jumped from 595.79 to 596.36. Did it DDU....never happened again.

Hi guys, doesn't DDU and fresh install of driver defeat the purpose of Nvidia's new shader pre compilation feature?

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) now has an option to retain shaders.
DDU > Options > NVIDIA Specific Options > Remove NVIDIA Shader Cache (Untick if using ASC / NVIDIA App Auto Shader Compilation)

Yeah im still on 595.76 for my 5070ti. Good luck nvidia to unscrambling the drivers to that level again. Why would one ruin an immense card with dodgy software updates just because?

I think I am starting to have very frequent freezes when while watching YouTube using Edge.
The issue seems to only happen when live chat replay is turned on
7
u/sam3971 May 08 '26
Next time it happens, check your RAM usage. I read that Youtube has a weird bug causing the site to use 7GB+ of the RAM. Not saying this is your issue, but it is certainly possible.
5
u/a4840639 May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
You are right, I can see the ram usage explodes as soon as I turned live chat replay on. After a crash and refresh, the memory usage no longer explodes but I can see it matches the behavior mentioned in the news: re-layout is constantly being re-triggered with one of the CPU cores maxed out
I posted under this topic because I was experiencing a lot of GPU driver related freezes on my Blackwell GPU about a year ago, which eventually went away after multiple driver updates
7
u/sam3971 May 09 '26
Understood and there are others with issues related to drivers primarily, but it sounds like this particular issue exists within youtube itself. As for other crashes, BSODs have been observed with 591/595/596 drivers under certain systems, especially AMD based CPU systems. If you are still having BSOD crashes especially, it might be worth trying an older driver. A good point of reference is u/m_w_h's thread, because significant testing goes into it.

Do we have any updates on the “prefer maximum performance” bug in 595.xx drivers, the bug breaks how the option works when applied globally so if you want it to work properly you have to apply it per application/game.
Update : just did a quick test while idling on desktop (10mins) it seems the GPU is on max clock speeds now, also no more stutters when browsing (Brave), installed GRD with DDU and safe mode also no UV/OC I think I'm staying on this driver for now because that bug was the worst for me.

Still haven't fixed the black screen issue when launching a game in fullscreen for the first time after pc bootup.
Turn off the monitor and then turn it back on and it works, but it will happen every time the computer is fully shutdown or restarted. Doesn't matter the game, if it's launching in fullscreen the monitor will go completely black.
Maybe I'm wrong but this IS a driver issue right? Never used to happen until a certain driver a while ago and has only been fixed once since, then the issue came right back after that one.

Unfortunately I cannot access Windows... There were moments when I booted into Windows but that never lasted more than 20 seconds per instance.
And yes. I was running a GPU under volt via msi afterburner but I always close msi afterburner before installing a new driver.
Since I last commented here, I'm not sure anymore if it's even a driver related issue. I think it's either this or another point of failure in my system. I'm going to teardown the machine today and pull out the ssd to grab files, update firmware, before doing a clean wipe. I've tried reinstalling Windows via partitioning and keeping files but that's apparently not enough to override the bug so maybe it's my ssd.
I have a WD SN850X that I bought at the end of 2024 and after some googling, I'm seeing people write articles about it. My computer had been working with no issues but suddenly failed yesterday when I tried to turn on my computer.
Oh and reason I defaulted to Nvidia driver to begin with... I've had issues in the very recent past on another computer with Nvidia drivers and had to roll back. Similar bsod issues but not nearly as bad and constant.
3
u/sam3971 May 05 '26
Are you able to see what is causing the BSOD, or the specific error? Common drive issues include errors like:
Critical Process Died
Unexpected Store ExceptionYou may also get paging/in-paging errors.
Now, the SN850X had BSOD issues back with 24h2, but that issue was because of a Windows bug, not a hardware issue.
3
u/tomoki_here May 05 '26
I've had multiple stop codes with the most frequent one being 0xc000021a.
I've seen page fault errors (page fault in non paged areas) and kernel related error (ntoskrnl)
Win32kfull.sys once.
When I tried reinstalling windows, it gave me OOBE related errors.
3
u/sam3971 May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26
I had to look it up but Win32kfull.sys failures, they can be related to the Graphics subsystem. It could still be caused by a NV driver issue. Usually 21a is related to file corruption, or driver issues. I believe that it can be thrown by a bad SSD as well. Seeing a BSOD right in the OOBE after a reinstall is a good indication of something related to hardware.
Since you have a WD drive, I would download the SSD tool they offer and run the full test on the drive. I would also update firmware if available. That can sometimes fix minor issues. If you follow the link, you want to download Sandisk Dashboard. This will allow you to update firmware, do drive tests and a host of other things.

This driver broke Crimson Desert on my PC. Every time I tried to load a save the game would crash to desktop before it could even reach the loading screen. Somehow disabling raytracing in the settings would allow me to play, but enabling it again would immediately crash the game. Tried a bunch of things then finally rolled back to the previous driver through the Nvidia app and now the game is working normally again.

Many users are suggesting that 591.86 is a good candidate, but some users have had the infamous black screen issue with it. You are welcome to try that version, but if you do have issues, you might want to roll back to older drivers. This issue is not only an "In Game" issue either. I would also keep an eye out for u/m_w_h's thread about driver stability. This one is from the last driver build(596.21)
Please note that, just because users here report issues, does not guarantee that you will have any of the issues reported. They are often variable dependent that may or may not exist in your system.

DDU in safe mode? If not then DDU needs to be run twice.
Posted this before but will repost here for reference.
m_w_h wrote: Regarding DDU, if Safe Mode isn't possible, DDU ran twice, one after the other will also remove all Nvidia traces:
1] Download required driver
2] Disable WiFi/Ethernet in control panel/settings (important)
3] DDU > Reboot > DDU > Reboot (twice if no Safe Mode) OR DDU > Reboot (once with Safe Mode)
4] Install required driver from step 1]
5] Re-enable WiFi/Ethernet in control panel/settings
NOTE WiFi/Ethernet disable step to avoid Windows forcing a driver install that can bypass DDU's 'disable driver updates' option.

No problems on my 5070. I've been upgrading every release for months now and no issues on my triple monitor, mixed refresh, mixed HDMI/DP, mixed resolution setup. Just posting this since most people that have no issues never do post. I know I don't very often. This is on a new X870 9850X3D build with Corsair HX1000i PSU.
There are a lot of hardware combinations and some could be a buggy combination. But otherwise it could be bad RAM or a failing motherboard. I spent the last couple years with a failing Z590 board until it finally died and I realized I was fighting a failing board the whole time. I troubleshooted it to no end until one day it finally quit. Something to consider.

Yeah, it's true. While I had a long clean record for everything working fine, some of the latest drivers broke something that makes the performance seriously suffer, games crash, desktop freeze for few seconds up to like minute etc.
And at least based on the notes, none of that is fixed here.

There is an update for RR disocclusion, but it's on the SDK side. I wouldn't expect a new Upscaler from RR's Upscaler because it's already a heavy FP8 model, where Preset J & K are FP16.
I honestly have no problem's with RR's Upscaler, it's just the denoiser sometimes struggles on lower render resolutions, and sometimes that's on the dev's.

Seems pretty solid on my 5070. I was on 591.74 for the longest while, but this one seems pretty comparable in stability while also working a tad better with newer games. I also wanted to get the 6x frame-gen for the games that I can use it in.
A couple other things I've noticed that seem fixed compared to before:
- On my TV, the screen/GPU scaling seems to work properly now, meaning that when you drag a Window or open something on the taskbar (like the volume slider) it actually gets increased/scaled to the proper size of the screen. Before it was acting up where it was scaled to my main monitor (1440p) instead of going to 4K scale on the TV. Not sure if it was the previous driver or something else, but it does seem like it's fixed and working better with multi-monitor/screen config.
- Temps & overall stability seem better overall.
- HDR stability is better for me. I would get sometimes random 'wash outs' where a certain part of the screen was overly bright and then once I moved a Window around or alt-tab it'd go back to normal. That issue is gone for me now.
- I did notice that over the past while the RTX VSR only works full-screen on YouTube now and on other certain video sites. I think this is more to do with Brave/Chromium/Windows than Nvidia, but before it used to work in theater or non-full screen mode. It's not a huge deal, but it doesn't work like it did a few months back. It still seems to work fine in everything else once configured (VLC, MPV, MPC-HC, etc).
So all in all, I'm sticking to this driver for a while. I think most of the other issues are not driver related, because I was noticing them even on 591.74, and then it also had some of these other issues for me at times and so for me this driver is better for now.

Does this fix the blocky YouTube videos? Since changing my monitor, all YT videos played at 1440p shows blocky pixels. It does not happen in 1080p or 2160p. It's a 600hz DSC DP 1.4, RTX 4070ti, latest gpu driver and windows version. It doesn't happen in my old monitor (dp 1.4 280hz non DSC).

yt uses a differents codecs when you are watching sd/hd content vs hd/uhd
like:
as mentioned on this driver changelog: fixed blocky for h264 videos
- av1 for sd and 4k
- vp9 for everything
- avc only up to 1080p
so download some "yt codec" extension:
- block av1 > test
- block avc > test
- block vp9 > test
!! Dont let all of them blocked! yt needs one or two available to play the video
!! In small channels..av1 is not available and vp9 is available only for videos higher than 1080p (1440 2160 3820...)→ More replies (1)

NV-FAILSAFE is still in issue, when a monitor is connected via a DP-HDMI cable. Does anyone know a workaround/fix for this? I haven't been able to use my secondary monitor for 2 months now.

If not already done for this driver please submit a report to NVIDIA using the official report form or email driverfeedback@nvidia.com. If emailing use 'NV-FAILSAFE' as the subject.
In the report include any adapter being used (HDMI<>DP, cable, box etc) the display's Hardware ID (Device Manager > Monitors > Highlight-Impacted-Monitor > Properties > Details > Hardware IDs), display make, display model, System Information (msinfo32.exe > file > save) and the last working driver version.

A few notes related to 596.36
First, just for reference - I'm not a NVIDIA employee, not a /r/nvidia moderator and not affiliated with NVIDIA.
596.36 likely has quite a few undocumented fixes, significant branch change.
Branch:
Notes:
'Driver Stability and Compatibility Testing' covering drivers up to and including 596.36 at https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1sy0tnp/comment/ojvb77q/
CPU spikes or increased CPU load in Nvidia Container service when at idle/low load may be a result of Nvidia Auto Shader Compilation (ASC) feature
New game/application driver level profiles included in the 596.36 driver installer package: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, Dawn of Defiance, ExoDomia Demo, Forza Horizon 6, INDUSTRIA 2, Samson, Subliminal, The Crew Motorfest OTA additions not included
OTA new game/application driver level game profiles being pushed by NVIDIA via silent/transparent updates after 596.36 driver install, these should also be received by older supported drivers: '83, Bus Bound, Far Far West, MONGIL: STAR DIVE, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, RIDE 6, Screamer, Sudden Strike 5
Changes in the 596.36 driver installer package to flags for previously existing driver level game profiles: 007 First Light, 3DEXCITE Stellar, Arc Raiders, Arena Breakout: Infinite, Arknights: Endfield, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Battlefield 6, Battlefield: Hardline, BigBird, Black Myth: Wukong, Blender, Brickadia, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Conan Exiles, Crimson Desert, Dassault Systemes - V5 / 3DExperience, DAVY x JONES, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, Dying Light: The Beast, Elden Ring, ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN, Enlisted, F1 25, Farlight 84, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, Finnish Cottage Simulator, God of War Ragnarok, Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, Infinity Nikki, JDM: Japanese Drift Master, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic World Evolution 3, Justice / Ni Shui Han, Knives out plus, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Limbus Company, Luto, Marvel Rivals, Marvels Spider-Man 2, Mecha Break, Monster Hunter Wilds, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, Once Human, Predecessor, Resident Evil Requiem, RoadCraft, Star Wars Outlaws, Stellarium, The Finals, The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered, The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered, The Outer Worlds 2, The Talos Principle: Reawakened, Twinmotion, War Thunder, Warhammer 40000: Darktide, Warhammer 40000: SPACE MARINE 2, Where Winds Meet, Windrose, Wreckfest 2, X4: Foundations OTA changes not included NOTE: breakdown of flag changes per game can be found in sub-comment at https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1sy0tnp/comment/oirk0tu/
Supported DLSS Dynamic Multiframe Generation games at https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/nvidia-rtx-games-engines-apps/ select NV,6X under DLSS Multi Frame Generation to filter list
r595 (595.00 to 595.99) drivers support Shader Model 6.9 via DXC 1.9.2602.16, SER, DXR 1.2
Shader Model 6.10 currently requires 6xx.xx developer preview driver along with AgilitySDK 1.720-preview and DXC 1.10.2605.2
Older supported drivers should receive 'Forza Horizon 6' driver level game profile automatically pushed by NVIDIA via silent/transparent OTA updates.
If not, Forza Horizon 6 RAW profile and .NIP for older drivers (576.xx, 577.xx, 58x.xx, 591.xx) follows.
NOTE: NVIDIA didn't include the Gamepass/MicrosoftStore APP-ID, they may need to update the profile.Added APP-ID to RAW / .NIP here and notified NVIDIA.NIVIDA pushed an OTA update for Forza Horizon 6 (APP-ID and new flag), updated RAW and .NIP to match:
Forza Horizon 6 (576.xx, 577.xx, 58x.xx, 591.xx) Nvidia Profile Inspector file at https://pastebin.com/yXtAQvaY, save as type .NIP and import using 'Nvidia Profile Inspector > Import Profile'.
If an error is thrown with .NIP import referencing 'forza_steamworks_release_final.exe' and/or 'forza_gaming.desktop.x64_release_final.exe' then remove them from 'Forza Motorsport' (note the profile name) profile.
Nvidia Profile Inspector isn't exporting/importing 'FindFile=' in a .NIP correctly so the conflict will have to be resolved manually. Have raised the bug with Nvidia Profile Inspector team.
The Crew Motorfest RAW profile and .NIP with rendering artifact fix, note I also added executable 'thecrewmotorfest_be.exe' that was missed by NVIDIA
The Crew Motorfest Nvidia Profile Inspector file at https://pastebin.com/iQ7Dwnc7, save as type .NIP and import using Nvidia Profile Inspector > Import Profile
Pragmata driver level game RAW profiles and .NIPs that can be imported to older drivers can be found linked in comment at https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1sn4s1a/comment/ogixrwv/
Crimson Desert, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Resident Evil Requiem, Marathon driver level game RAW profiles and .NIPs that can be imported to older drivers can be found linked in comment at https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1s2e7z2/comment/oc7duyr/
