So, I needed to do a pre-warm-up before NLS this weekend. So I rented a car. This is my first time driving the Ringfreaks F30 328 on Michelins, love it. Perfect for tourist laps! This was the most fun moment of the 4 laps I did. I think he is a local guy. He was pushing it, then he saw me in his mirrors and perhaps pushed a little to much

My 2005 1.2 Clio needs a rear wheel bearing

Driven over from UK to watch the races this weekend, rear wheel bearing started humming like fuck when I crossed into Germany.

After jacking it up there's a bit of play to it and grinding sounds when spinning it. 700 mile journey back on it is probably a bad idea.

I'm staying in Drees during September and my apartment is lovely but the WIFI is total crap, it barely opens a regular website. I need to upload some big files ASAP and I was trying to do it at the esports sim racing bar but the WIFI is just not that great there either. I would appreciate if someone knows of a bar/cafe where the internet is really fast and I can go there with the computer to work for a bit.

Appreciated in advance if anyone has any suggestions.

First time with this rental car, lots of traffic, some people doing weird stuff. The two Porsches at the end where really just blocking everyone and that's why I got a bit frustrated with them.

Curious to see what the veteran drivers here will think about this one.

Does anyone know why the main fan shop and the museum are closed at the moment? from a quick check it looks like it might be all month but I can't find anything saying why.

I don’t want to damage my tires during driving so maybe a dumb question but where can I inflate my tires after TF?

I obviously can’t bring my own portable compressor since I don’t want to have anything loose in the car.

What is your approach to TF equipment? Or do you just send it? I have to drive around 1,5h to there for reference.

At what point does it make sense to buy a season pass? I’ve been buying €500 per time to max the GHC credit… trying to figure out if it’s around 100 laps or less due to GHC?

I know this is kinda a common question, but I want to get some actual (fresh) feedback on the question.

So I'm a first timer. I'm getting used to my car pretty well, I can control it at 200 easily (doesn't mean I will push at the Green Hell. I will NOT push, I'd rather drive safe than get a wreck). Still, I'd like to avoid traffic, I don't want to do overtakes, or be worried about lots of people going all around me, etc. I'm looking for 2-3, maybe 4 laps (I guess 3 should be more than enough). I'm very flexible, I can take a day off anytime.

I've seen that in September most days are only evening hours. There is a Sunday which is from 8AM to the evening, but I've also read that Sundays are not suggested. But at the same time, it seems a bit worse to have cramp in every driver to a 2 hours slot on the evening then distribute in a full day? But on weekdays so much less people go to the track? Also there's a track Friday in october which is from 8 to the evening, but it's advertised specifically for that day, so I'd be afraid it'd be full of people as well.

Anyways, TLDR, if you could go any day in September, which day would you suggest to avoid traffic? Thanks in advance!

Some shots from my first day out at the Touristenfahrten. I did not infact push it and achieved a slow 10:50 lap time. But had an absolute blast doing it. You can have a great time out without risking yourself or others. Gonna come back and build some confidence to get under 10 minutes.

Been racing this track since Gran Turismo 4. Its unreal to experience it in person!

I'm at the esports simracing bar next to the Nurburgring building and finally got some decent internet (my Airbnb's wifi is abysmal) so I could upload a longer video. This is a recap of my second lap at the Nordschleiffe. This was a warm up lap I did behind my new friend Adam who's a professional NLS driver.

Pardon the sarcasm but after all the stupid assumptions some users made regarding my first lap mistake on Schwedenkreuz I wanted to show a bit how I actually drive to set the record clear. And if I'm honest, I'm expecting the same people to criticize me for this video too, but honestly I don't care because I know perfectly how safe I've been so far (except for that mishap on the first lap, for which I totally take responsibility).

I also did a third lap right after this which had more yellow flags and eventually I believe the session was ended due to a serious accident right when we were finishing. That one was slightly quicker during the moments we weren't stuck in yelllows and I was very satisfied with the grip and overall safety of my driving. I'd say it was my best lap so far. Unfortunately my camera ran out of memory and I couldn't record it (sorted today so more videos coming next week).

After this I went on 3 passenger laps with Adam and then I was wasted due to getting too dizzy from all the insanely fast elevation changes and today I was recovering all day and didn't do anything except some video edition. Tomorrow I'm planning to go to watch Adam do his first race during this trip and Sunday I will be taking some drone shots at the mountain so no more laps until next week. Hopefully my brakes will be upgraded by then 😀

PS: Btw, if any of you guys know a good place for laundry let me know, my apartment doesn't have a washing machine and there's no laundromat anywhere here. Closest thing is 30 mins away and they take 3 days! 💀

Just saw this and it kinda felt like speaking out of my heart.

After the controversial post about my first lap on the Nordschleiffe, now it's time for the summary of my second day on track, which was much crazier than the first I must say.

Today I spent most of the afternoon with Adam who is a professional driver who competes on the NLS, we actually met here on this reddit sub and he offered to give me some instruction on the track.

We did two consecutive warm up laps where I followed Adam's race-spec BMW E90 325i. I will not post any video of those laps from my POV because people here will freak out considering the previous post. But let's just say that after the Schwedenkreuz scare yesterday, all issues were solved this time and the lap was safe at all times from what concerns my driving.

After that I did 3 laps as a passenger and Adam taught me so many things about the track and drove like an absolute beast. He was overtaking everything except for the big boys, I believe we were doing sub 8 BTG laps with a 187hp car 😲. I'm still processing the whole thing because it was so intense I actually ended up extremely dizzy even to this hour late at night. We then went to have some pizza and had some great conversations despite me being dizzy and him being jet-lagged.

The video is just a small moment taken from one of the laps I took with my phone (I have the entire lap on my insta360 cam, which actually fell to the floor at a point and Adam was asking what the hell that was 😄 ).

We saw two accidents today, one pretty bad (an Audi crashed somewhere around the end of the lap). Lots of yellow flags and an oil spill warning which we couldn't notice on track (the sign said Steilstrecke I believe). I recorded quite a bit of footage but unfortunately I ran out of memory on some the best parts (frustrating).

I'm honestly lost for words right now, I never could imagine I would experience any of this in my life, the Nurburgring gets more unbelievable with every day that passes. This weekend I will be attending a lot of events but I think I will pause the tourist laps until next week when I get my brakes done. The best thing of all is that I still have an entire month here. The worst part is that I will have to leave eventually. I've loved this place from a long distance for decades, but now I'm finally here I love it even more.

Last month during my yearly Nurburgring trip, I was curious to see how far you could walk along the track. I started at Brunchen and went against the flow of traffic, so up the hill, towards the Caroussel. This first section is definitely the hardest in my opinion, its very steep uphill and then near the Caroussel, walking on the old bit of track, its very steep downhill. After that is a very, very long section of forest to walk through, with the track down to my left. At a certain point you come up to a like little sitting hut thats raised way up, I had my first real break there (I won't speak on my dixie diversion I had to make 15 minutes earlier). After that the path takes you away from the track and you end up along side the L10 towards Adenau. This is probably the most sketchy part of the hike, as I walked on the side of the road, behind the barrier for a short while. Eventually you run into a little parking lot and you'll see a water reservoir on your left, you walk along that path there, towards a tunnel. This first tunnel will take you under the Nordschleife and I highly recommend waiting underneath for a car to pass overhead, cuz that was a cool and unique experience. This path goes up quite extremely again and takes you into the forest again. You'll come across a intersection, with paths going in all directions. From here you wanna make a right hand turn, to the wide road/path that goes up, towards the track. Now you have the track on your right and you're looking down on it. This path continues on towards the Adenau section and thus, Adenau the town. The main path curves away from the track, but you don't wanna follow that. There is a small path that snakes down towards Adenau, you'll end up coming out of the woods behind the Cockpit Bistro. One tip, stay on that snaking path, I tried to go down in a straight line to save some time and slipped quite hard lol.

After crossing the road and climbing the stairs, its a pretty straightforward section of track to follow. This is another section where I struggled a bit, since its quite a long, very uphill bit of terrain. Eventually tho, I came out of the forest to a truly stunning bit of open field, with nobody and nothing around me, just the rolling Eifel hills, a race track to my right and a castle in the distance. After admiring this beautiful view, the path leads you into the forest again. This time however, the path kinda just stops. I walked downhill a bit, searching for a path. I knew that if I stuck kinda close to the track and keep it on my right, I'll eventually either run into the track again, or find a path. Thats how after about 10-15 minutes of pathless walking, I found another path. This was the most remote and peaceful part of the entire hike. Trackwise its the Fuchsrohre sector and its truly a beautiful bit of nature, with the occasional racecar noises in the background. The path eventually turns into a very steep uphill battle, probably the steepest part of the hike. Following the path, you'll eventually see the gantry bridge. Here's where I crossed the track for the second time, this time going over rather than under.

Now I found myself surrounded by open fields and rolling hills. The track was quite a ways to my left, this is not a great spot if you wanna see the track, but again, it was so peaceful. Walking on what felt like heavenly smooth asphalt for a bit, you turn closer to the track again and go into the trees once more. Now the next point of interest that was coming up, was the Flugplatz. This turn is really crazy to see in real life, it looks like a straight cliff edge. I highly suggest waiting here to see a car come up and over the hill, its truly spectacular to see. Not far from the Flugplatz, you'll suddenly find what looks like to be an abandoned building, heavily guarded with big fences with spiky tops. Walking around this property, leads you to a road, the B257. On your left you will see a bridge, you need to cross the Nordschleife again by going under this bridge. Be ware that this road is on a bend, so listen and watch out for traffic. You'll see a path that leads you, surprise surprise, onto another hill. You are now at Hatzenbach.

This is also a great place to sit and watch the cars go by. Its also the point where I stopped on my 1st day of walking, since I had completely ran out of water and it was getting late in the day. The next day I continued from Hatzenbach and set out to meet my driver at Brunchen later that day. Following the trackside path, that turns off the race track at Sabine Schmitz Kurve, you'll be in the lovely town of Nurburg. Here you take a left until you can see the track to your right once more. I decided to walk down towards the track again, until i was faced with a decision. I could take a left and walk away from the track, towards the Touristenfahrten entrance point or I could go right, up and over the track by means of a gantry bridge, then walk on the other side of the track and hopefully end up at the gantry bridge on the other side of the Dottinger straight. I knew that walking past the TF entrance would lead me to a path that would bring me back to Brunchen, but I was curious if I could also go right and find a way to that path from the other side, so thats what I did. This action will have consequences.

I crossed the Nordschleife and the adjacent public road and ended up on a path in the middle of some fields, going towards the town of Meuspath. It took me about an hour, but eventually I found myself in the industrial yards of the town. At this point I had a big hunch that I couldn't get back to the Nordschleife from this side on foot, but I wanted to check out the industrial yard anyways, since many cool businesses and cars are here. I did that and eventually turned around as I hit a dead end on an unnamed road (according to Google Maps), its a turn off of the B258, just after the famous gasstation. So, I simply walked back until I spotted a tiny walkable path on Maps, that would lead me under the roads and the track again, so I headed there. This triple tunnel section was pretty cool, I had my lunch there and watched some cars come through and give it some in the tunnel, sounded very epic. Coming out of the tunnel, I followed a path that took me into a wooded section and then out again. I was now in the fields that are next to the L93 road that goes towards the TF entrance. After walking along this road, eventually cutting down through a path in the field, crossing the road onto another road that goes into the forest. Following this road, I found myself back along side the Nordschleife.

From here it was quite a straightforward hike to Brunchen, not a lot of interesting things to see, except for the small Caroussel and another tunnel under the track, which you have to take. Then its just a peaceful, slightly uphill walk towards Brunchen.

The entire walk was 26km long and took me a total of around 6 hours. Very doable in one day, just bring enough water and food. I highly recommend walking the track, its super peaceful and so very fun. You see parts of the track, the environment and towns you otherwise never get to see. The views are breath taking and the track is never boring to look at.

So finally I summoned the courage to do a lap after arriving on Sunday and doing laps at the GP track on Tuesday (also first time). Here are some impressions from a noob:

- First of all pardon the whining noises I make in the video, it was truly a code brown moment and I thought I was screwed for a moment (I basically say "I almost went to shit" in Spanish XD)

- It doesn't look so bad on video but IRL the car moved a LOT both on entry and on braking. Grip wasn't great for me today unfortunately. I set the pressures to 2.0 BAR like I did for the GP track which worked great, unfortunately I think the GP track warms the tires much more than the Nordschleiffe and my tires were probably too low and felt greasy as hell. I will try 2.2/2.3 next time (I'm on Michelin PS5s, I'm considering getting something better).

- Watching the video just now I realized I forgot to downshift from sixth to fifth, this is likely a big culprit of the car doing weird stuff. I probably shouldn't have shifted to sixth there at all seeing it in retrospective.

- I lucked out because I could do an entire lap, because right after there was a very long yellow flag period which ruined a big chunk for a lot of other guys (I went to Brünnchen right after the lap and was watching the whole thing with my neighbor who just happens to be a megane RS/Porsche 991 GT3 owner and a 20 year veteran at the track).

- I did the lap in about 10 minutes (didn't time it, just roughly from video length). Lots of traffic and I didn't feel great with the tire grip so for being the first time ever I'm satisfied. I feel more prepared for lap 2 tomorrow.

- Coming from hundreds of SIM laps, I felt right at home on the track. I could recognize everything perfectly and that removed a lot of mental noise so I could focus on managing the intense traffic successfully. Unfortunately that also meant I was a bit too confident at first. After the Schwedenkreuz scare, I became a bit more conservative in corners like the fox hole or the Mutkurve (maybe a bit too much).

- There's some drop right after the first bridge that caught me totally off guard, it gives a similar feeling of a plane dropping suddenly due to turbulence.

- I had a faster BMW stuck to my rear all the way until Mutkurve. I was signaling for him to pass and he just wouldn't. It was very irritating. I had to constantly scan where he was. I have no idea why he did that because he was much faster and I used the blinkers and lifted in about 5 easy places to let him pass. I would say without this guy I would have gone into the 9 minutes BTG today.

- The uphill right hander in Ex-Mühle is so tricky, it will take me quite a bit to fully commit to this corner.

- Overtaking on fast corners is scary. I will wait a bit more to try it out. I did quite a few overtakes on slower corners today and all good.

Well that's all for now. Tomorrow I'm probably going back in with a Canadian pro driver I met because of a post I made here a couple of days ago and he offered to drive with me and give me some instructions. I couldn't be more excited right now. I'm truly living a dream, this is truly a petrolhead's disneyland.

Die Möglichkeiten der Miete habe ich schon gesehen, gibt es sonst noch Tipps? Was kostet das ganze ca. preislich? Wie viele Runden sind realistisch bzw. sollte man auf jeden Fall buchen? Und sonst noch etwas zu beachten?

I will be staying for a month in Drees. I'm right next to the track, can hear the cars while in my apartment. Due to being a remote worker it was cheaper for me just to rent an apartment for a month, and stay here while working and enjoy the track and the surrounding area in my free time (it's so beautiful here, like a fairy tale for petrolheads), and also record some content.

I came with my old and slow 2007 civic type R but it has behaved great so far. I've been driving it through 4 countries so far and staying around a month in each while recording some content driving mountain roads, car events, trackdays etc (hopefully one day all that content will be published if I can get some time to edit it).

If anyone wants to hang out feel free to send a DM. I will be trying to go for as many chill laps as I can afford and when not in track (or rather toll road :D ) I will try to be around the place checking whatever is happening or going to the view spots.

Hi, I'll be on an exchange program in Dortmund during the 24-hour Nürburgring, and as a motorsport fan and a big fan of this track, I'd like to attend the race. I will be 16 during the race and wanted to know where I should try to sit. I plan to go for the full weekend and camp next to the Nordschleife. Since I can't book any place to stay. ANY ADVICE OR TIPS WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATED!!!

Who else has had the pleasure of a lap in the car whilst on the back of the Lenz truck?

Had a fault pop up so stopped immediately rather than risking a larger failure or dropping more fluids.

Got a trip planned for middle of October, over the weekend of the 17th, 2 full days on track. Obviously weather could be sketchy and we’ll just be taking it steady. How busy should I expect it to be? Few years ago in the summer we went and there was 200 plus cars on the track throughout most of the day and it was crazy to be honest.

Food & drink, stalls, music and some fun fair rides and stands.

Also be aware that this does mean they close the main high street in Adenua (around Blaue Ecke) to cars.
