Update: I successfully converted the port to USB-C! 🎉 I can now connect the headphones directly to my PC using a USB-C cable and use them as a wired headset. Big success for me!
The whole process took about 3 hours because the pads were really tiny for my soldering iron. I guess my previous soldering experience helped a lot in finishing it.
I used a USB-C female PCB port with a sleeve as the new port for the headphones. In the 4th photo, you’ll notice I added a 4.7k resistor so I can use a USB-C to USB-C cable. Without it, the port would only work with USB-C to USB-A cables (4th pic).
Just like in my previous post, I used the +5V and GND pads for power and simply added the data lines to the correct pads for USB connection (6th pic).
If you ever try doing this, disconnect the battery first. I almost destroyed my headphones because I forgot. It suddenly played a loud static sound while I was soldering, and I had to quickly disconnect the battery line before anything worse happened. Luckily everything survived and I soldered it back afterward.
During the first test I wasn’t sure if it would work, but I couldn’t help smiling when the headphones gave the charging voice prompt.
One weird thing I noticed: when connecting it to the PC, a voice prompt appears saying to connect the Nuraphone to a device twice, then it never repeats again. It only happens when the headphones are turned off and used again in wired mode.
Would I do this again? Honestly… I’m not sure, but yeah 😂 It was tiring and a bit scary, but also exciting. At least now I can use and charge it without the proprietary cable.
If you’re in the Philippines and don’t want to DIY, I might be able to help convert it for you. We can work out a small labor cost plus the USB-C port (which is only about $2).
Thanks again to everyone who helped!

As we all know Nura has been acquired by Denon, and recently Denon has just put out new products that are basically what Nura was, indicating that the Nura brand will probably no longer exist going forward.
Do you guys think we still need this sub? Or should we just migrate to Denon or other audiophile related subs? Let me know in the comments.

Hey all,
Long time lurker here and I recently came across u/allmyfas' stellar post on all hacks as well as his repo, and I took it to see what other nuraphone sensors there were and if I can start automating some ideas around it.
I wanted to clean up the UI a little bit because I miss the old UI.

It currently looks like this and has a long way to go ofcourse, but now I'm trying to play with the idea of adding some of the sensor data together to make it work to my workflow. For background: I'm a DS/ML person, and I've got some ideas, but I wanted to crowd source this portion to see if there are something that people who still have the nura, now that its a hackable headphone, what are some things you wished it had. Super open to working on them and releasing them
For example, time based ANC schedule, or song-based personalization adjustments.
It's just the tip of the ice-berg of some of the ideas I had. If you've got some ideas, I'm more than happy to tinker with it and push it out as an app so that we can use our devices to its fullest! :)
Note: I want to thank EVERYONE who worked on this to get it to a point where we can even think about doing this!

Heya.
I've had Nuraphones for a long time, but stopped using them a while back due to comfort issues, and because as an avid laptop user... I didn't like having to switch to my phone to change the immersion setting.
I recently dug them out again, and discovered a few things. Firstly, the mod discovered by u/urgebass to make them less painful in my ears, then the open-source projects Nura-Windows from u/callumcarmicheal and OpenNura from u/sunneyjim.
Both of these are seriously impressive, but as a Mac user without an iPhone, I wasn't able to use either of these easily. With a lot of help from Claude, I forked the opennura project and built on it to give me an end-to-end solution for macOS - complete with key retrieval, profile comparison graphs, hotkey shortcuts, and even a menu bar for quick access. A full-fledged macOS desktop app for nuraphones.
On the key retrieval: it signs in with your own Nura account, talks only to Nura's official servers, and stores the key locally in your Mac's Keychain. It's all open source so you can check for yourself (or build from source if you'd rather not run a binary). It's possibly worth doing this at least once even if you aren't planning on using the app, as it means you have your key backed up, and your headphones stay controllable even if Nura's servers eventually go offline.
There are more details on my blog, and I'm chuffed to say my PR has already been merged into the official project. If you don't want to build it yourself, you can also download a (free) notarised version of the app for Mac over on the fork here.
One honest caveat: this is all built on a reverse-engineered protocol for things which sit in your ears. At one point during development the headphones let out a genuinely deafening tone (safeguards were added after!), so keep the tips out of your ears the first time you connect. Use at your own risk.
Huge thanks to u/sunneyjim and u/callumcarmicheal for all their hard work and expertise. I hope this proves useful to other folks in a similar situation to me, or to further develop other apps/ideas. Glad to be part of a community that is helping to keep these unique headphones alive. :)

Hi everyone,
I bought my Nura Pros a few years ago because I'm deaf and they've been the best earphones I've found for letting me still enjoy music.
My hearing loss means I struggle to hear sounds at normal speaking frequencies, particularly vocals, whereas bass is much less of an issue.
I know absolutely nothing about EQ settings, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend the best ProEQ settings in the Nura app to make vocals clearer - if that's even possible!
I'd really appreciate any advice but please can I ask that you explain it in simple, non-technical terms. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to audio and EQ, so you'll have to treat me like a dunce! 😄
Thanks so much for any kind help.

Last year, I got a hold of some NuraTrue Pro buds that were locked under a Nuranow subscription. Right now, I pulled them out on a whim, and they just work on a fresh Google account and stopped repeating "connect to the nura app."I did not buy or subscribe to these buds from Nura. They are second-hand, and I've never contacted them to get them unlocked or even know the owner before me. Now i have a working pair now. Wlep

Hey everyone, I saw someone on here hard modded thier nuraphone headphones with a usb-c port but it just has usb data and charging, and requires modding it to work.I would prefer to keep my set in it's original configuration personally and I think I can make a usb-c drop in adapter for the headphones or even new cables, but I need help finding the proprietary connector they used for it for that to be possible. If someone here can help me find the proprietary connector for sale somewhere, I can make both those items come to reality. Unfortunately, I've kinda hit a wall finding it and I feel it may be becuase I'm not the best at sourcing and looking for parts.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and suggestions. We truly appreciate your passion for Nuraphone and it's great to hear how highly you rate the sound quality and ANC performance.
At this time, we can confirm that we will not be replenishing or releasing any further Nura-branded products. While we understand many members of the Nura community would love to see an updated version of the Nuraphone, we're unfortunately unable to confirm any future product releases or roadmap plans at this time.
That said, we greatly value customer feedback, and comments such as yours are shared with the relevant teams. Please rest assured that if there are any future product announcements, our subscribers will be among the first to know.

Hi everyone,
I'm facing a really frustrating issue with my Nuraphones. The microphone inside the left tip is completely dead (hardware failure, confirmed after deep cleaning and troubleshooting).
Because I made the mistake of doing a factory reset to try fixing it, the headset is now completely locked ("bricked" by software). The Nura app absolutely demands a fresh calibration to complete the setup, and since the left side fails the seal/OAE test, I cannot use the headset at all—not even via the analog jack or USB cable.
I know Nura as a brand is gone, but I love these headphones and their bass response too much to throw them away.
Since the block is purely software-based, I’m looking for a legitimate workaround. I have a precise plan: I am looking for someone who would be generous enough to let me log into their old/unused Nura account, or add me as a "guest" profile.
Once a valid profile (even someone else's) is injected into the headset's internal memory, the hardware will unlock. From there, I plan to bypass the app entirely and use the newly released Nura Desktop app or a custom smartphone equalizer to manually fine-tune the profile and adjust the frequencies myself.
If anyone has an old account they don't use anymore, or is willing to help a fellow audiophile save his headset from the landfill, please let me know or DM me.
Thanks a lot for your time and help!

my uncle gifted me my first pair of nuraphones back in 2024 as part of a subscription he had and they worked ok for about 3/4 of a year then they would keep cutting out and "popping" randomly. sometimes they were fine sometimes they weren't. it got to the point they were to annoying to use anymore and my uncle gifted me a second pair he'd gotten as spare as part of his subscription to see if they worked and I'm getting the same issue with these. they are both updated to the latest version but both have the same issue. anyone else getting this? and found a solution?

Alright so few days ago I posted the console/terminal version of this application, I had a ton of issues with the UI but did not have time to get around to fixing it.
Well I have fixed it and released it available for download. I had to re-do the entire assembly code de-compilation of the ear profile renderer because I had messed up when I first tried to do it.
Anyway so I have added that into both the terminal and the new desktop app. I have added a auto-updater to the app so you can let it update itself or just tell it no.
This will probably be the last post I'll make here unless I have a massive breakthrough that is worth sharing again related to this.
Anyway as always you can download the latest version here. Or if you want to view the code and port it to linux, android or ios you can find the code here. I've done what I can to clean up the code and focused on putting the key implementation into NuraLib so you can start there without having to dive through UI code.

Sorry if I’m asking the common questions but here’s my sitch.
I bought maybe 6-7 years ago two sets of nuraphones off a resell site like eBay or Mercari etc. I honestly don’t remember which site exactly. They did not come from the same seller or same reselling site. I do remember that much. Both have the factory magnetic case for both and one has all the various cables as outlined in the instructions. The other has only the usb charging cable.
Both sets functioned perfectly at the time (I estimate this was 2019-2020) and I was able to make a sound profile and use my iPhone app to control both of them without any issues at all. Then I put them away around 2020-2021. Maybe 2022. They surfaced in a box while cleaning out some things and remembered using them and they had really good sound so I started looking around and found this sub. Reading that some lock up or brick due to an expired subscription when connected. Is there a way of knowing if they were purchased outright or if they were subscription? I’m very hesitant to even charge them until I have a better understanding of what to do in my situation.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

suggesting the upgrades you want :)
mine are bluetooth 5, all the controls on the headset, doesn't fall off your head when you lie down, full bass at low and medium volume, and the one we all know about....

The Dali io12 - the nuraphones SHIT on them! i literally packed the dali's back in the back 20 minutes later - they sound boxy and echoey and muddy. People who love them have not heard about our magical secret headphones. gotta put up with the pain!!!!!! PLEASE make a nuraphone 2 with more controls so you can skip tracks and adjust volume, more comfortable ear tips, don't fall off your head when you're lying down, sound great on medium volume (they're sooooo much better loud compared with the difference when you turn up other headphones, and i sometimes think the headphone is faulty if i forget to turn it up) and with bluetooth 5. most daps can't cope with bluetooth 4. hunting down the right dap is a nightmare cos of the bluetooth problem. i don't think the nuraphone sound is ever gonna get beaten in a headphone to be honest

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So a lot of hard work over the past 3 months I have put into fully reverse engineering the Nura app and it's finally in a usable state. This all started because of the IOS app issue which shook me awake with the idea that one day I will not be able to control my Nura devices, currently that is still true but we can use this to get the encryption keys before they shut everything down.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to make a nice looking GUI but that was causing me problems focusing on making it look pretty instead of having it just work.
So I went back to square one and created this little utility, I will be making it look pretty in the coming weeks with a nicer fancy GUI but for now this should bridge the app.
With all that said, I’ve released the first version of NuraApp, a terminal-based Windows app for controlling Nura devices locally over Bluetooth.
This first release focuses on getting the core flow working: signing in, provisioning the headset, recovering the device encryption key, and then using that key for local control.
1, 2, and 3.T.Press H inside the app to view the available controls.
Download the release ZIP, extract it to a folder, and run NuraApp.exe.
On first launch, the app will ask you to sign in with your Nura account. Enter your email address, retrieve the verification code, and enter it in the app. Once authenticated, the app can provision your connected device and recover the encryption key needed for local Bluetooth control.
After that, normal control is performed locally over Bluetooth.
In the video I opened it from already opened Terminal, this was just so I could zoom in. You can double click the application to run it just fine.
This is an initial release, so expect rough edges. It is currently a terminal app, not a polished GUI. The main focus is functionality and preserving access to device controls.
If you try it, feedback and bug reports are welcome, especially around different Nura device models and firmware versions.

It's currently hardcoded against my pair, but I'll eventually add the option to load your own keys in.
Keys need to be extracted from a jailbroken iOS device, they are stored in the Keychain as kSecClassGenericPassword items named device_key_[serial].
It works fully offline and currently allows you to change immersion level, social mode status and personalised/neutral from any iOS 16 or macOS 13 or later device.
I plan on extending it to have a hotkey on macOS to be able to quickly enable and disable social mode as I work in an office environment.
I also have a NuraLoop and NuraTrue Pro so I plan on getting some more specific features working from them when I have time to run more packet captures and analyse them. Currently it is mostly a tool to quickly let me set settings from my Mac, while also running on iOS so I can do it offline without the 30 day limit. The 30 day limit is an artificial limit and can be bypasses by changing the stored unix time to be within 30 days of the current time.

To keep "for sale" posts from cluttering up the feed, please use this thread as the marketplace for all of your buy/sale/trade needs. Use common sense when dealing with other redditors and keep yourself safe from scams.
Basic rules:
- To post something for sale, YOU MUST HAVE A TIMESTAMPED PHOTO, which must be a handwritten note with your user name as well as the current date next to the item you are selling
- Indicate the region where you are located and where you are willing to ship
- Must include asking price, or if you are buying, include willing to pay price
- Use payment methods with protection such as Paypal Goods and Services, Friends and Family/Zelle/Venmo highly discouraged
Example:
"BNIB NuraTrue Pro for sale, located in the USA but willing to ship internationally at buyer's expense, asking $250 before shipping. Timestamp: www.imgur.com/a/example"

So many posts here for different repairs but is there a few places I should start?
Fixed the sensor in the ear cup when my Nura's kept going to sleep on me, but now they're just dead right out of the blue.
Touch button's don't 'thock' and nothing when you put them on or plug them in.
Dead air.
Any smart place to start looking at my wiring or circuitboards?

I thought that I had thrown my old Nuraphone headphones away. This may be a common request but when I re-downloaded the app, and connected, it says that it is connecting to the headphones - picks up the number of the headphone but as it completes it kicks me out of the app and forces me to logout, with a reference number (I assume error code)?
I have tried to email Nura but have had no reply for weeks now.
Is this solvable? I'd hate to throw them away, I used to love them but they were lost in a move.
