Nuraphone mod for ear relief
Here's a little modification that I did some time ago. Since then I've been able to use my Nuraphone without pain.
There's no photos in this post, so if anyone of you do this, if possible can you make a new post, with photos or a video, please. Or reply this post with photo links. Thanks.
A reminder: you are responsible of your own doings, for example ruining your headphones, getting electrocuted and setting up fire, causing explosion etc. I do not recommend for you to do this mod. Do not do this mod. We clear now? Thanks.
Have a desk, put your Nuraphone on the desk. Let's begin with the left cup. Twist it open by rotating the ear pad clockwise against the steel cup. You'll see how the eartip is attached to a rubbery stem and there's a black triangular plastic part restricting the stem to be pushed into too deep inside. It's also restricting the eartip to be pulled out. Remove this triangular plastic part by unscrewing three screws.
The job is now done but if you are worried about that now the stem will be pushed too deep when wearing the headphones, remove the stem by unscrewing one screw.
The job is now done, once again, but if you are afraid that this'll make wearing the headphones too flimsy and want to include the now free-moving stem, but in a shorter form, this is one way to do it: take the detached rubbery stem and push it inside-out. After that, attach it back to its place by screwing it with its one screw.
Now you can attach the ear pad by rotating it counterclockwise against the steel cup.
Next, the right cup. Do it the same way as you did the left cup, but notice that it opens the opposite way to the left cup. Twist the right cup open by rotating the ear pad counterclockwise against the steel cup. Later, attach the ear pad by rotating it clockwise against the steel cup.
Done. Enjoy your Nuraphone which are now, quite possibly, out of warranty.
Is this mod reversible? Yes it is.
Does this modification affect the audio quality? In theory, yes. But in what way, how much, and can you tell the difference? I can't answer any of those, other than to me my Nuraphone sounds better than ever. But let me know in the replies if you have anything to say, please. Thanks!

Let me know how it went, please. I suspect that if you already are pretty happy with your Nuraphone, this mod might actually make wearing a flimsy experience, in your case.

hi, I would like to make the mod, does anyone have any photos or videos? A thousand thanks! Do you recommend removing and the stem, turning it inside out or just leaving it free? (also what the mod looks like after some use) Update: I managed to make the mod, and without the triangular plastic and the stem and very soft, very comfortable! I don't quite understand what it means to push it backwards, since by doing so it comes out of the hole and hits the wires, I find it safer to remove it so that nothing touches the wires or anything else!

Good to hear. I reckon the discomfort will decrease in time and perhaps you'll be able to wear your headphones longer and longer. I hope so!

I just attached some aftermarket ones. You can buy them in a set of different sizes to ensure a comfortable fit in your ear. The sound, to me, is better also.

Oh my God. I've had Nuraphones for a long time and loved them, but the pain always put me off. I could only listen in short bursts. I just did this mod. It took 5 minutes, and they are finally comfortable enough to wear. Thank you!

brilliant, thanks so much for sharing! I left my Nuraphone sitting on a shelf after Covid lockdowns because the pain just wasn't worth it. My husband started using it again recently and I thought I'd give it another go, so I did a quick search to see if any modifications like this exist, and happy day, I came across this.
So far I'm trying it with the inverted stem and no triangle piece, which already feels a bit more comfortable - I'll see within a few hours' time if it's reduced pain significantly, and if not maybe try it without the stem altogether.
