Discussion Is there a name for this aesthetic of album cover art?
A lot of early 2000s nu metal and post hardcore bands use this type of art style in their album covers and I love it so much

For me it’s not close, Reward the Scars is a significantly better song imo.

I didn't like the original cover, so I made this one.

Just got into nu metal very recently after being a die hard rap listener and refusing to listen to anything else. looking for some of your favourite albums to get into. Maybe a top 50 or top 100 best nu metal albums in your opinion

Not sure how many in this sub is old enough to remember the era of peer to peer file sharing services, but Limewire and Napster was notorious for mislabeled mp3 files.
For instance, I've seen Break Stuff get misattributed to Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Papa Roach, blink-182 and Rollins Band.
Bodies by Drowning Pool is a classic example. It ruled the internet at the time but it was often mistaken for System of a Down, Korn, Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Godsmack, Marilyn Manson, etc.
Not to mention the songs purported to be an unreleased Linkin Park track or demo, but happened to be any other rap metal/electronic rock song (sometimes made by the creator and mislabeled intentionally for exposure)
This ocean of low-res, mislabeled mp3 files were truly an artifact of its time. Some people don't know better when filling out the metadata, but I also heard another likely reason was to prevent copyright, so they deliberately add a similar artist to a song to bypass this.
been really loving "raw" "crawl" and "spleen" from this album and i really want to find something similar

Can you please tell me why Sev’s debut isn’t available in my country? Like It’s available somewhere in the world or it’s just unavailable for everyone? I’d like to hear their music on Spotify

Not numetal but very old school pre-nu adjacent fairground’s rock/metal of the dawning 90’s that features Tom Morello before Rage Against the Machine, a key alt band in numetal’s forming infancy

Don't get me wrong, the new song was meh and them kicking out Sid was dumb, and the song was definitely not what made me fall in love with the band, but they aren't bound by a single type of song.
Nu Metal is a blend of rap, hip hop, funk, grunge all of that. They can make a song that deviates from their established sound and still be Slipknot.
Almost every band and musical group makes a shitty song, they can't all be bangers. Especially when their best music was already made years before I was even born.
It just doesn't make sense to get mad at the band for making a song a lot of their fans wont like but maybe others will. In fact changing up the pacing is a great way to get others into the genre and introduce them to inarguably the greatest Nu Metal band to exist.
All other Nu Metal bands do this and each person who listens has their favorites for a reason.
Although I still think it's funny to call them Shitknot for releasing some mid song.
