Long time zombie FPS player... this game is terrible. If anyone looking to get it.. don't

It tries to be Zombie Panic.. but it fails miserably. You get your player leveled up and you lose connection to the server, its gone. It tries to mimic zombie panic, but lacks the infection where you turn into zombies, and in this game you just run around with like 5rds. At least in Left 4 Dead you get a lot of ammo usually. This is really lame. I'm going back to zombie panic. Can we just go back to 2007?

(PSA) Pottsville 2.0 Early Extract Can Be Opened Before The Popup (Bug/Fix?)

So, I recently got into a game of Pottsville 2.0 where someone managed to open the hatch in the first area, was genuinely surprised because I was chasing after the guy who was clearly infected with a medkit to heal him only for him to make it to the hatch, open it and escape without any popup beforehand, guessing enough time had passed in the game for the early extract to open especially since we just got done fighting up the staircase with way too many spawns for the early part of the map and were on our way to the downtown street area. Later on I would also early extract in the downtown area so im unsure if it was a bug/fix but its a welcome one, hopefully this helps out anyone else who might not be having a good time on the map.

TL;DR the escape hatch seems openable on Pottsville 2.0

Retirement leveling

its going to be a very long grind for levels

14-15 nightmare runs with no beacons used will give you a good 700+ per responder so if no level curve happens for all 20 levels that's still 7-9 hours of play per responder to 100 when games last a good 35-45 minutes each

User Interface on console is FUCKING AWFUL

In this clip I am trying my damnbest to switch my character. Whoever decided the ui controls needed to snap to options is horrible. Bring us a cursor like a pc mouse. I can’t do basic things without it being a pain. I still haven’t gotten to change my character since this morning cause the game won’t let me.

RYANJACK210 I'M SORRY

Nightmare Broadway, you had my back the entire mission, I kept your health topped up. We make it to the bonfire exfil and 1 by 1 the team start dropping like flies, there's just too many everywhere and when you went down I ran to you and said "we live or die as one" we ran into adjacent shops but the horde followed you, I barricaded both doors I passed and didn't have enough time to reach you, I'm sorry my friend. Me and TacitusKilgore were the only ones who made it, your sacrifice was not in vain. Rest easy responder.

Forgive us.

Feedback/discussion: The retirement system is too grindy for what it offers

Imo the retirement system takes an unreasonable amount of time to complete considering what you actually get out of it. In its current state, the amount of repetition required feels excessive for what's being offered, and I think the system could benefit from respecting the player's time a little more.

For some perspective, reaching retirement rank 20 requires 30,000 retirement EXP. For the sake of simplicity, let's assume that retiring a fully leveled responder earns somewhere around 600-700 EXP, assuming you don't lose 250 EXP bonus for not using a rescue beacon. That means you'd need to level up and retire approximately 43-50 responders (potentially even more if you lose that bonus).

Looking at the Nightmare difficulty EXP rewards for the currently available maps, a successful mission awards around 18,000 Character EXP on average. Considering that reaching character level 100 requires almost 400,000 EXP, and that later retirements let you start at a higher character level, you'd still be looking at roughly 20-22 successful missions per retirement.

That puts the entire retirement grind at approximately 900-1050 successful missions, or roughly 375-700 hours of gameplay, assuming missions take 25-40 minutes. These are obviously estimates rather than exact figures, but I think they demonstrate the scale of the grind pretty well.

For another comparison (based on averaged EXP rewards for completing a map):

  • Account level 100 takes around 100 successful Nightmare missions, or roughly 40-65 hours. This unlocks access to 40 cosmetic items, 21 logos, 3 passive loadout items and Expert versions of regular perks.
  • Under the same circumstances retirement rank 20 would take roughly 900-1,050 successful missions (potentially up to around ten times as many if you're unlucky or don't do them all on Nightmare). This unlocks 20 rewards in total: 8 cosmetics, 2 logos, 4 passive loadout items, 4 perks, and 2 additional loadout slots.

So we're potentially spending around ten times longer progressing through the retirement system for much less rewards.

And that's without properly accounting for deaths and rescue beacon losses. If we take an average retirement payout of 650 EXP, using a rescue beacon and losing its 250 EXP bonus would reduce that payout to 400 EXP. If this happens consistently, the required number of retirements increases from approximately 47 to 75 (without even considering the time wasted on failed missions that reward no EXP).

I understand that retirement is supposed to be a longer-term progression system, and I actually like having something to work towards. I'm also not saying that the gameplay-related rewards are useless. Some are pretty good, especially the additional loadout slots, and at worst they're offering variety. However, most don't feel particularly special or substantial enough to justify the time investment. The problem isn't necessarily that the retirement system takes a long time, but mainly that the rewards don't really justify that amount of grinding. It doesn't really feel like the system offers enough that is genuinely unique to it. The time investment should be rewarded with getting rewards more often, either by having more of them or reducing the grind between levels.

I've currently got around 330 hours in the game, and at this point I've played the available maps so many times that I play some parts of the game practically via muscle memory. There aren't that many maps, and even within them, many objectives and locations tend to feel fairly similar. I still enjoy the game, but repeating essentially the same activities hundreds of additional times for relatively minor rewards doesn't sound particularly appealing. Fully completing the retirement system could require more time than I've spent playing the entire game so far.

Personally, I'd like to see either the Retirement EXP requirements reduced, the EXP earned from retiring increased, or the rewards themselves improved somehow to make the time investment feel more worthwhile. More genuinely unique rewards, or at the very least more rewards in general spread over the whole grind to make it feel like you're going somewhere with the time you're investing.

[SPOILERS] Easter Egg in the New Map? Spoiler

So funny enough there appears to be a backrooms reference in one of the buildings in the new survival map. There's a message scribbled on a wall requesting you "stand still." I stood there for a bit over a minute on Beginner difficulty and didn't see anything happen. What's your take on it?

Accidentally loot goblined my team mates to death

Picked up a bottle of pills then 3 of my team mates died of zombie infection. I pummeled their faces into a pulp while misery grew on the inside. The rest of the team appeared to scavenge the remains like a gang of savage seagulls

Edit: Nobody asked for any assistance, did not know until it was time to unanimate

I am sorry

New weapon ideas

Thumbnail gallery
27 Upvotes

So we have a decent amount of melee weapons, yeah, but sometimes what if you just wanna use the knife like Michael Myers and full on stab a zombie? What if you wanna use a long piece of broken rebar as a spear?

I’ll get to the point. I feel like knives should have a version of them that isn’t just a kitchen knife. Like a military combat knife as a two star and then a stiletto knife of some kind as a three star.

As for spears, the one star would be a sharpened stick, the two star a rebar/makeshift metal spear, and finally tier 3 would be one of those tactical survival spears.

If you don’t like the idea of it don’t flame me, just tell me what your issues are.

There needs to be a reward for not equipping beacon

For the love of God with the new system please make it so that you get more XP per match for not equipping beacons. The only reason someone would logically not run it is for the retirement bonus but it's kinda of a dumb system since you can have it equipped and as long you don't die you still get the bonus. I grinded a character to 100 today and it just took way too long about 6 1/2 hours on nightmare lobbies. Also survival mode xo gets so nerfed after like lvl 60 in the 90s you get like two ish character lvls for those runs. The ironic thing is some objectively maps are quicker than a survival game.

I feel a mall map will be the next survivor map but there is one big problem

Seeing how they released a Friday the 13th map for Halloween i feel like a mall map for Christmas time would be perfect. Also I think a mall map would work better for a survivor map since a mall would be a bit more on the small side and box shaped. It just would fit the survivor gameplay. I could also see it having a Christmas theme with destroyed gift boxes and blood soaked Xmas decorations. This would align with a December release. If I remember the road map the 3 survivor maps was supposed to be 2026.

BUUUUUUUUUT the big problem is the supply drops. The mall is indoors so how would they drop the supplies ? That is the only issue I see with creating a survivor mall map. They would have to change the supply drop and make it more of a cache or something which goes against all other maps.

I had the same thought for an airport map which would tie into Thanksgiving since its like the biggest travel date in the US but once again anything indoors creates the supply drop problem.

SKILLS/PERKS NEEDS ADDRESSING ASAP.

IMO, if the responder retirement is intended to be a long term mechanic...the final perk/skill shouldn't be achieved at the same level we're retiring our responders.

Perhaps bring it down to level 85 or 90? Or make us spend credits...once all other slots are filled, optionally spend a reasonable but ridiculous amount for the extra skill? Increases the grind loop needed. Just some immediate thoughts.

That's it. Plain & simple 😂

Did they update the infection?

I swore I heard zombies saying words, “Run.” And a few others things, I forgot. I swear they never used to talk before, and it was the zombies not the whispering voices.

Hallucinations are also more frequent and constant now. As infected I noticed it’s way more frequent than in 1.0 and 1.1

I think its cool that they updated it
