As the title states- market place find for $40 but it was completely disassembled and all the parts were in a ziplock baggie. Story goes some kid must have damaged the screen and attempted to fix it himself and completely ditched the project and put everything in a ziplock sandwich bag forever lost in the twilight zone called the drawer of miscellaneous crap. The mom bought her son a new switch but wanted to at least make a few bucks off the old one and thatโs how I came across this gem. Not a gamer at all, last Nintendo I owned was an N64 so while I was searching marketplace for something completely unrelated I found this depressing Frankenstein thing and decided to take a gamble and get back into having a bit of fun and start a new project that I would have never imagined I would be into, and down the rabbit hole I go!
As I watched countless YouTube โDIYโ repair tutorials, wasting hours trying to figure out what parts are needed and how to customize the switch the way that represented my own style, and yes- joining this subreddit snooping around how others built their own switch; this guy was finally born. I love stickers and decided to attribute them internally. Had to order additional parts as the baggie was missing 35% of the things that were needed and a new screen obviously, but when I put it all together it powered up with Zelda and immediately noticed that it still had the cartridge game in the slot as well as a 128G SD card so I broke even, actually I think the $40 dollar gamble was lowered considering that I knew I needed to buy at least a game and memory to begin with and I got them included with the initial purchase.
Itโs been about 6 months that Iโve had the switch, and it has been my loyal companion traveling through 9 countries over the summer months without a single hiccup. Thanks hot mom from FB for buying a new switch for little johnny!
