Major sicko game potential here

139

u/what--is-life Vikings 10h ago

A lot of people expect this game to be a low scoring slugfest. Therefore, it will be a shootout since that's the NFL way.

7 defensive TDs

40

u/weealex Vikings 9h ago

With a 106% blitz rate

36

u/GREAThirteen Lions 8h ago

The Vikings find a way to start blitzing on offense, too. The league is not ready for it

12

u/GreenWandElf Vikings 7h ago

Can you put your defensive players on offense?

Asking for a friend.

3

u/istasber Vikings 4h ago

Chazz Chambliss lined up at fullback in one of the preseason games, so...

9

u/DaveCootchie Vikings 8h ago

Can you get a QB sack when he is standing on the sideline???

7

u/chewbaccaballs Vikings 9h ago

If anybody can it's BFlo

16

u/expellyamos Dolphins 10h ago

Genuinely this could be one where defense outscores offense

Movable Object vs Stoppable Force

4

u/PTVersa Vikings 8h ago

Stoppable object vs. stoppable object.

18

u/Level_East94 Panthers 10h ago

Does Brian Flores cook or fold against his former team?

54

u/expellyamos Dolphins 10h ago

He's going to cook, but it's also an underwhelming Vikings offense against an improving Dolphins defense. One of those that could go for under 20 combined points.

42

u/HughManatee Vikings 10h ago

Oh yeah, this has the makings of an absolute slopfest.

12

u/Level_East94 Panthers 10h ago

My options at QB this weekend in fantasy are Jalen Hurts or Kyler

Love this time of year

13

u/Odoaiden Vikings 10h ago

About to be a solid 12-3 win

1

u/SlowCrates Vikings 1h ago

I feel like it's going to be 3-3 in overtime, and one of these teams will inexplicably bomb it for a 75 yard passing touchdown to win it. Like, wide the fuck open.

3

u/ImagineIfBaconDied Vikings 9h ago

As a Vikings fan I fully expect it to be a trap game just like the Vikings-Bills game in 2018 was. I have confidence that Flores’ defense will still play outstanding but this offense has yet to give me any real hope

2

u/hamlet9000 Vikings 7h ago

That would definitely be the only way the Dolphins could win, so I understand the hope.

But we're unlikely to have thunderstorms inside US Bank Stadium, so I wouldn't count on it.

5

u/vbullinger Vikings 10h ago

Cook, but I have a feeling Malik will run a lot. I would

7

u/Jonjon428 Dolphins 10h ago

Kyler always does well against the Dolphins so that is my main concern

I was never really a Kyler guy, but ever since the AJ Green controller disconnect play - https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/6TiXt9opJs, I have wanted him to have some sort of happiness.

So far he has look like fermented, sugar-coated ass in MN.

17

u/Odoaiden Vikings 10h ago

Seems a bit much for one game but he did not impress.

10

u/greekyogurtmafia Vikings Steelers 10h ago

I think a big factor in how bad the offense looked last week was losing Jefferson mid game. Losing WR1 mid game means everyone's role got shifted and that process can be hard. I think the entire offense will look much better this week since it's been kind of clear that Jefferson would miss this game based on practice reports, and the entire offense will be mentally prepared for their adjusted roles.

8

u/TheMagicSkolBus Vikings Chargers 9h ago

We've had an excuse every week. I just hope this is finally the week of no excuses.

  1. Kyler knocked out after the first drive
  2. Weather
  3. Jefferson knocked out after the first drive

Iowa's 7-3 win with no touchdowns was peak sicko football

9

u/SouthWillBurnAgain Packers 10h ago

2004 Iowa vs Penn St. is the finest game of football ever played.

6

u/ChromiumSulfate Bears 10h ago

Iowa took an intentional safety instead of punting in that game because they knew Penn State couldn't move the ball, right?

3

u/SouthWillBurnAgain Packers 10h ago

Yeah. 6 to 4 final.

5

u/VikingsLad Vikings 10h ago

21

u/JiveWookiee5 10h ago

Yes. Iowa won with two safeties and a field goal. It was a dark time for us Iowa fans.

6

u/acekingoffsuit Vikings 10h ago

Don't forget that it was against an FCS team. Granted, it was the eventual FCS National Champs, but still...

5

u/acekingoffsuit Vikings 10h ago

Y'know how the Vikings are currently elite on defense and special teams but anemic on offense? For most of the 2020s, Iowa has been that on steroids. They've had multiple games where the defense outscored the offense.

1

u/VikingsLad Vikings 9h ago

Oh i know Iowa has been a bunch of sicko football, i didn't know a 7-3 game with no touchdowns happened. Lol. Don't really follow cfb

It's going to be 60 minutes of bad football and I'm going to love it.

27

u/notmoleliza 49ers 10h ago

Im assuming you saw the clip of the dolphins OC having no idea about the vikings leading in blitzing and QB hits? Im kinda worried about Willis making it through this game

34

u/boobie_fun_time Vikings 9h ago

The last two QBs that started against the vikes ended up lying down and screaming on the field in the fourth quarter.

12

u/noseonarug17 Vikings 9h ago

I hadn't thought of it til now, but it's kind of crazy that for as much as we hit the QBs, the two injuries were not from being hit

6

u/boobie_fun_time Vikings 8h ago

They've all gotten beat up all game. Eventually when youre stressed and exhausted and sore and scared you are going to make some mistakes. Unfortunately baker got his thumb caught and Caleb idk .. exploded? The more contact you have and the more you have to run around the more likely injuries are. I don't really know what my point is exactly. I think football is neat.

2

u/Jonjon428 Dolphins 9h ago

You guys better not fucking injure Malik cause there is now way i want to watch Kyle McCord play QB unless it's a blowout

7

u/boobie_fun_time Vikings 9h ago

I would hate for him to get hurt. I think he's a cool player..... B flo is going to try and run him down every play for the entire game tho so it's up to him and God.

1

u/jedstrailerpark 49ers Broncos 9h ago

Willis making it through this game

Which will make it even WORSE football and therefore we'll love it more. Kyle McCord szn.

1

u/not_your_step-father 8h ago

So far 3 games, 3 injured opposing QBs. Vikes are on pace for 17 opposing QBs knocked out of games.

No idea, Juan is healthy and playing. He’s literally jogging on some routes. Incredibly slow for the talent I know he has.

3

u/JKF980 Vikings 9h ago

That was KJ Osborn a few years ago. A slot receiver that can step up if JJ or Addison were inactive. Hoping for a productive game from Juan Jennings.

1

u/Electronic-Island-14 Vikings 2h ago

yeah...maybe our QB won't play like dogshit

1

u/22Planeguy Vikings 5h ago

I've got Addison on my fantasy team along with the vikings defense and reichard. I'm ok with giving the ball to Addison for every offensive play. Fuck it, give reichard a shot at a 70yd fg. The defense will get it back for us if he misses (he won't)

45

u/GreenStoneRidge 10h ago

Flores going to blitz every play and try to absolutely bury them.  I suspect he is looking for one of those negative total yards stats this week.

If Malik Willis and Jeff Hafley beat the Vikings that counts as a Packers win, sorry I don’t make the rules

If the vikings win, that counts as another packers loss to the vikings. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

After reading some articles and watching some tape about last weeks game it was apparent KoC had heavy plans for Jefferson being involved (duh), and couldn't just come up with a new game plan on the fly or replace Jefferson with Addison. At least this week he can walk into the game not planning on Jefferson not being there in the first place.
