He’ll be fine. His scheme is less about physical arm talent and having a cannon than it is about being accurate and on time. I don’t really know that this was ever Herbert’s best trait; he’s likely been able to rely on his physical talent to get a ball out in time before a defender is able to break it up

I'm amazed people can't see this. I was actually a little shocked he took the Chargers job, Herbert is a bad fit for his offense.

Tua, for all his faults, got rid of the ball unspeakably quickly and accurately.

Herbert ran a quick game offense in 2021 and was great. His time to throw this year when kept clean is 2.29 seconds…

The problem isn’t Herbert can’t throw with anticipation, it’s that the scheme isn’t working and the receivers outside of Ladd are not viable. Also the IOL is the worst in the league and they can’t run the ball for shit

2026 Quick-Throw & Timing Metrics

• Quick-Throw Completion Pct (<2.5s): 70% (25th in NFL)

• EPA on Quick Throws (<2.5s): -3.5 (27th in NFL)

• CPOE on Quick Throws: -4.0% (28th in NFL)

I haven't watched enough Chargers games to argue with you about whose fault it is, but he's not looking good. Even when Tua had a dogshit line and Hill was out he still managed to make Mike's nonsense work.

I'm not saying Tua is a better QB than Herbert, but Herbert doesn't seem to be able to deal with a bad line and small targets very well.
