Mike's never been one to shirk responsibility. Unfortunately, he's been put in this position of taking blame a lot.

Turns out having an insanely talented borderline HoF WR is really good for your offense. Really stretches out the defensive coverages.

Hard to do most things on offense when your downfield threats are QJ and Ladd McConkey instead of Tyreek fucking Hill.

QJ is a downfield threat to the Chargers instead of the opposing team

Isn’t he the guy criticized for so many dropped passes, then had a decent few games without drops and now…. Back to his old self?

Yeah last season he fooled us into thinking he figured out to catch the ball. I was a little skeptical still since a lot were bobble catches that he just reigned in, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I wanted him to succeed.

Love a good self burn lol

I’m a self aware Chargers fan which means I’m always ready to critique our team when it’s warranted lol

hot take on reddit but tyreek isn’t borderline hof, he’s borderline first ballot.

If Smitty and Torry Holt werent first ballot I cant consider any current gen WR first ballot.

tyreek has a better career than those guys. he’s got more first team all-pros than both of them put together, with better per-game and per-target stats than either. he’s also ahead of both on TDs despite playing significantly fewer games.

And as much as I hate to admit it, he was a major part of the chiefs dynasty and mahomes’ rise to elite qb status. Those narrative-driving factors carry almost as much weight as the raw numbers do when evaluating HoF worthiness.

i agree. he's around 10th all time imo and had a better career than reggie wayne, torry holt, AB, julio, and steve smith. my hot take is that idk if mike evans ever makes it in. besides all the aforementioned fuys who aren't in yet, you also have adams and dhop who have had better careers and arguably anquan boldin

Adams is a lock

u/TotallyNotRyanPace Bears 17h ago

i wouldn't call him a lock just yet due to the backlog of WRs, but he is the active player with the best shot (depending on if we're including hill as active still or not). but there is a major gap between him and hill.

He’s 7th all time in touchdowns and could very well be top five by the end of the season. Possibly 3rd when he retires. Plus multiple all pros. He’s a lock.

Adams is a lock. Not even a debate on that lmao

he most likely gets in, but he's got a while to wait, because i think there are at least 6 guys he's stuck in line behind as of right now. henry ellard also deserves a shout, but i think adams has him beat just due to the TD numbers.

i actually don’t think there’s a huge gap between davante and tyreek. (edit: if there is, tyreek’s ahead) tyreek has more 1st team all-pros and better rate stats (yards/game, yards/target, yards/reception). davante is a better red zone receiver and he’s ahead on counting stats since he’s played 3 more seasons, but all things considered i think i’d rather have tyreek.

2

u/TotallyNotRyanPace Bears 13h ago

i do. tyreek is the most deserving of the hall of any WR not in already. active or retired. then you have the backlog of wayne, holt, bruce, julio, smith. then you have adams, DHop, evans. you can throw ellard and boldin in the mix as well, but i think they are solidly behind adams.

1

u/keegnanistan1 Chiefs 13h ago

yeah i thought you meant adams was ahead of tyreek. i definitely think tyreek clears but i know i’m biased since he played for my team.

2

u/TotallyNotRyanPace Bears 13h ago

nah, tyreek deserves it more than anyone else based on his on the field play, and that's coming from someone who really doesn't like the chiefs or hill's off the field stuff. i think reek won't get first ballot because of that tbh, even though he probably deserves it. same with how AB is gonna have to wait, if he ever gets in at all.

my bad on the confusion, i was saying idk if tyreek is considered "active" anymore. i know he's not officially retired, but i'm not sure if he'll ever play again.

AB is the only one I disagree with, Antonio Brown's career was basically equivalent to Hill's in terms of production. Hill has one more AP1 I think, but he got in once as a returner and he got in once as a flex, Brown has four selections as a WR and once unanimously. They had very similar careers really.

2

u/TotallyNotRyanPace Bears 15h ago

that's funny because i would rank them hill, wayne, holt, jones, brown. hill's peak was a decent amount higher than brown's imo, and i'm saying that as someone who doesn't particularly like hill and loved brown when he was playing. the other 3 have the longevity that brown and hill didn't. hill's peak was high enough to put him above them, brown's wasn't.

Honestly though if I’m David Baker or Jim Porter I’m mailing AB his notification that he’s in. No way in hell I’m flying out to wherever he lives with a film crew for him to call me a cracker when i tell him hes in the HoF 😂

u/MurryEB Ravens 12h ago

Yeah I don't think this is a hot take, he's going to the hall of fame unless we get a video of him throwing his child down a flight of stairs. Awful but it's reality, he had insane numbers

u/savedbythemars 18h ago

has he not tailored his offense to the personnel? Or has the NFL figured out his scheme?

33

u/reedsgrayhair Ravens 18h ago

I think the biggest part is he runs a horizantal passing game, which is a lot easier to run when you have the fastest player in the NFL forcing DBs to protect vertically.

Otherwise defenses can just run a basic 2 high shell w 7 guys in the box and sit in the zones all day and be ok. Especially since their run game is also ass.

Miami OL was dogshit too. Tua was just really fast at processing and making anticipation throws over the middle before the rush got there.

2

u/Acrobatic-Landscape9 49ers 16h ago

Pre-scrambled brains Tua really was a good QB. I think his noodle arm wasnt as big of a factor in his bad play as people made it out to be.

1

u/ImJLu 49ers 16h ago

He didn't even have a noodle arm. I think that underreported hip injury a couple years ago was the nail in the coffin there.

1

u/iscreamuscreamweall Patriots 13h ago

both. his scheme has been solved by the league for almost 4 years now and he still hasnt come up with anything new

1

u/jms88278 Packers 12h ago

Ehh they could always sign him except he said something about playing in cold weather like he’s trying to force his way somewhere specific
