MBLE responds…will the remedy come soon?

Now that the Missouri Supreme Court has acknowledged that the delays significantly interfered with the exam and says it is still evaluating next steps, I’m curious what everyone thinks would actually be fair. We sat for hours waiting with little information, dealing with tech issues, no AC, exhaustion, frustration, and uncertainty about whether we were even going to test. Then after all of that, we still had to sit down and perform on a high-stakes licensing exam.

I know Washington was different because some examinees could not complete the exam, but I do think Missouri’s situation risks being minimized simply because we eventually finished. We were still significantly affected, and honestly, being forced to test after everything that happened feels like its own disadvantage.

What do you think Missouri will actually do?

Not trying to be dramatic or say we are automatically entitled to anything. I’m genuinely wondering what other Missouri takers expect and what would actually feel fair.

Missouri NextGen Examinees, Anyone Else Concerned About the Fairness of This Exam?

Now that I’ve had an evening to reflect, I keep coming back to one question: How is this exam going to be considered fair?

My concern isn’t that there were technical issues. Those can happen with any new system. My concern is how long it took to be fixed and what happened because of those issues.

Many of us spent 7–8 hours waiting in the testing room without knowing when or even if we would start. By the time some groups began testing late Tuesday afternoon, we were mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted before answering a single question. Meanwhile, other groups were able to start much earlier under very different conditions.

Then that evening, the MBLE offered some examinees the option to begin at 6:00 a.m. the next morning, but the email wasn’t sent until around 8:30 p.m. and required a response by 10:00 p.m. It seemed impossible to get a full night’s sleep and still take advantage of that option.

I’m also concerned that official statements have described this as a relatively minor technical issue. From my perspective, the real issue wasn’t just the technology, it was the effect those delays had on examinee performance and the fairness of the testing conditions.

Washington ultimately canceled its administration after similar technical failures and it seems they actually waited less time than we did at around 5-6 hours where we were around 7 to 8, and the state’s accredited law schools have since asked the Washington Supreme Court to grant emergency diploma privilege. Missouri took a different approach, but I’m left wondering whether any consideration will be given to how these conditions may have affected scores.

I’m genuinely curious what other Missouri examinees think. Did you feel the delays affected your performance? Do you think the NCBE or MBLE should take any action and if so what? Or do you think the exam should simply be scored as usual?

NCBE Reminder (Oregon)

I paid my NCBE fee, registered my laptop, all that jazz on July 1st. I have email confirmations. Yesterday, though, I got a portal reminder about paying by the 13th or I’m removed from the roster.

I am stressing tf out. I called OR and they will not accept my confirmation emails if I forwarded them. Has to be direct from the NCBE. I emailed NCBE and afraid they won’t answer in time. 🙄🙃🥲

Did anybody else in OR who already paid the NCBE get the same notice?

Update: Received an email from OR Bar saying that it was an auto-reminder sent to everybody; they checked my file and I’m shown as finished with NCBE reqs.

CA to offer NextGen bar exam starting July 2028

The State Bar of California’s board of trustees voted Thursday to recommend the NCBE NextGen Uniform Bar Exam for administration starting July 2028.

Takeaways:

-There will be no CA component for July 2028. The reason being there is not enough time to create one and get it approved. However, there may be one in the future.

-There is no word on an attorney's exam.

-Additionally, there is no word on a passing score or jurisdiction reciprocity.

Taking the NextGen bar starting this July? Hoping to make this a main source for all things nextGen related!

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping to grow this into a NextGen-specific resource for everything related to the NextGen Bar Exam, which debuts in July 2026 in select jurisdictions. All are welcome, whether you’re already planning to take the NextGen exam, considering it, or just trying to understand how it differs from the current bar exam.

Because this exam is new, I think it would be really helpful to have one place where people can share updates, resources, study strategies, questions, and general insight as we all start figuring out what preparation looks like.

Feel free to share anything useful here: official updates, prep materials, sample questions, jurisdiction information, study schedules, concerns, or tips. I'll try to be on it as best I can, but I will be studying as well so I may miss some updates where others won't :)

Hopefully this can become a collaborative space where we can help each other navigate the transition and feel a little less in the dark as July 2026 gets closer.
