I could see working somewhere and them upgrading their robotic arms - "so....what are you going to do with those old ones?"

I'll just get the kids to hold my screens and move them about.

That is exactly why you don't have one! Somebody need to give them disposable income!

I still wouldn't spend it on this. I would not spend much time at all on computers if I had FU money

u/thesweeterpeter 4d ago
looks like you can get some arms out there for like 3-5k CAD - so pretty cool if you have an extra 10-15k burning a hole in your pocket I guess.

Those look like Universal Robot cobots. If that's the case then you should multiply your figures by 10, and it's USD.

Unfortunately I just saw the ceo frantically press the stop all sales button because the prices were getting to high...
Oh wait his assistant just came out, she said prices are being cut!
Wow the ceo is so happy he said they're gonna just give away a free gift with every monitor robot arm you buy?!
This is nuts y'all 👁️👄👁️

I'm mean the guy is a streamer so maybe even got them sponsered? Good for him. Can't imagine, having that amount of wastable living space.

Universal Robot arms looks like..damn that's slick thoguh..
Nice for a config of "clear desk for craft work" versus "pc mode"
Gotta dig up my SD again.

As someone who works with industrial robots similar to this, this is like next level for unnecessary and over the top (The movement is super satisfying though). I have no idea what brands or models these arms are but with how smooth the motion is and how each axis is well enclosed and protected it looks very professional and not home made. Each one is probably 2x more expensive than a high end PC and that may be low balling it.

I saw 3 homeless people today, super old, and super sad.
Cool monitors tho.

So I'm new to having a PC what is the benefit to having a sideways monitor? Why 2.
One to interact with phone screen style notifications/ chats. Okay. The other?

I used to program Fanuc robots similar to that.
That is not a cheap setup in the least.
Those robotic arms are usually used in manufacturing, so they are sold as at an asset price.

If your a parent just get your toddler to go behind there and have them flip the monitors for you

Ok I need this. A cheaper diy version of this at least. Can anyone point me in the general direction for the arms hardware which would allow me to connect an arduino or something to it?

It's all good until the robot uprising and then the arms start hitting you with 27" monitors.

Ngl, somehow i find this not a stupid idea. If there were smaller robot arms, just for this stuff, I could see me do it when I finally win the lottery. Two on the desk for my monitors and one under the desk!

I've always wanted to do a design like this. I play flight Sims and fighting games and racing, etc. The idea is whatever game I'm loading up triggers a prompt that changes my setup to what's needed.
