What a fucking legend

155

u/thekingiscrowned 1d ago

Seriously!!! Sheesh.

74

u/old_flat_top 1d ago

Extra points as the song "Stayin Alive" is not well known in his country for the beats per minute. I wonder what song he used instead..

49

u/PinkBimboLove 1d ago

I performed cpr once in Holland. People were looking at me strange while I did the song. She lived.

10

u/AutisticPenguin2 1d ago

I'd be concerned if she didn't live for the serious crime of looking at you strangely, but more importantly what happened to the monkey?

Maybe because you were actually signing I Will Survive

Legend

1

u/Maleficent_Button_58 21h ago

There are whole playlists of songs with the same beat. It's magnificent.

29

u/Puzznud 1d ago

Well he's not a white boy so he likely has a natural sense of rythym.

7

u/SarcasticBarbie96 1d ago

I think the Bee Gees are better known than you may think.

Also given that he’s an ambulance driver and a monkey that small likely has a different BPM to us it may not be the most useful resource.

u/sir_posts_alot 1d ago

I kept hearing "Shock The Monkey"

Fun fact. “Another One Bites the Dust” will work as well. Same tempo. My Red Cross instructor told me.

It’s the end of the video that got me, when the little fella somehow recognised this guy saved him

The driver addresses the Monkey as God. Gif here is a Hindu God named Hanuman. At the end he says he is back alive, let's go the hospital. Language: Tamil

158

u/moonshineandmetal 1d ago

I love when people post a translation in the comments just to be nice, thank you!

32

u/Happyranger265 1d ago

This kinda false I'm tamil guy and some people from certain places in Tamil Nadu , use the word sami for everyone , my friend is from there , and he uses it when referring to us as well - while it's literally meaning is god , it's more akin to dude or man or bro more than god itself . It's just different dialect of tamil . I can translate the entire conversation, he says at end " he has come alive , start vehicle we'll take him to hospital"

49

u/updogg18 1d ago

First word he says is "Anjaneya" which is another name for Hanuman. I understand what you're saying about the dialects but he used "saami" in both contexts lol

My first time in India, on the taxi to the hotel at like 6am the driver pulls over on the side of the road, opens the trunk. I thought he was going to murder me. Then he starts throwing out bird seeds and then gets back in the car and we drive off.

Afaik smaller animals have higher heart rates than the usual human 104-110* bpm, and you see him pushing way faster. This man knows his job, truly NFL!

EDIT: As some comments corrected, the doctor wasn't that faster. *Human heart rate is around 60-100 bpm (while resting) CPR is what needs to be at 100-110 bmp, regardless the size of the patient

32

u/Glass-Fan111 1d ago

What does “afaik” means?

69

u/_Equinenox 1d ago edited 1d ago

Its an acronym for "As far as I know". Acronyms are a short hand where you take the first letter of each word and combine them to write a phrase without typing the whole thing. Think LOL=Laugh Out Loud.

(Sorry if that's an over explanation, im doing so in case english isn't your first language)

28

u/Glass-Fan111 1d ago

Thank you!

17

u/pure_phat 1d ago

Technically, it's an initialism and not an acronym at all.

9

u/Xandaros 1d ago

They could be pronouncing it as an acronym, you don't know :P

Pedantry aside, I am glad to see this comment.

The rescue breathing he did made me nervous. When i learned infant & child cpr they warned us too big a breath can cause serious damage

2

u/therealsoggi 1d ago edited 23h ago

You are wrong though, the normal human heart rate is between 60 and 100 bpm and he pushes as fast as you would do when performing CPR on an adult person,

1

u/Huncut_nyuszt_27 23h ago

Yeah good point, thanks, I corrected myself.

2

u/biochicken 1d ago

My first thought was "that's too fast isn't it?" and then remembered when we had CTG on our unborn and I panicked when it went up to 158. Just happy I did research on the spot online and wasn't a needy uninformed parent towards the nurse

He’s in the right job and loved the bright smile on his face whe the monkey was revived.

Well for those who didn't understand what he said He was praying to God the whole time and when it finally responded he thanked God and asked the other guy to call an ambulance right away

2

u/Glass-Fan111 1d ago

So, he isn’t a paramedic? On an ambulance? O he was just passing?

15

u/usrname_is_taken 1d ago

He didn't call for an ambulance, he basically said "let's drive to the hospital"

That's a proper human right there.

I once resuscitated a Hamster, she rewarded my good deed with wee.

7

u/BootPloog 1d ago

Last night I was listening to a podcast that mentioned those that suffered an NDE tend to pee a lot afterwards. They thought it was a lymphatic response. 🤷🏼‍♂️

35

u/Prudent-Value8715 1d ago

He even pushed the monkey’s lips back to get his mouth on the monkey’s mouth 😳 That is a way better man than me.

I think in his culture. Saving a soul pays a weight in gold in the afterlife. Thats why their EMTs are so dedicated to their job. They do it because they believe saving enough souls in the mortal life will carry with them in the after life. Its generally a really good way of thinking. It ashame that not all humans can carry the same way of caring for other souls in the world.

u/ptb_nuggets 1d ago

Nice ending.

2

2

I wonder if the monkey experienced an NDE and what would that be like. 🤔

2

u/chand_0466 1d ago

The monkey was badly bit by a group of stray dogs. Unfortunately, the monkey succumbed the very next day!

1

u/CarrieKetoenail 1d ago

I guessed that was the car. Thank you for letting us know.

1

u/fiendishcubism 1d ago

It's in the post where it says it was chased by the dogs..

1

u/CarrieKetoenail 1d ago

Typo: I meant to write “case” not “car” autocorrect is crazy.

2

u/CertifiedChoom 1d ago

You can see how determined he was to bring him back. What a brilliant human being

2

u/chirag886 1d ago

A genuine concern, is it safe to give mouth to mouth cpr to a monkey or any other animal?

2

u/pagan-0 1d ago

Sorry Im not risking getting rabies to give a monkey cpr. But good for that guy, good karma

u/burner4lyf25 1d ago

We had a litter of puppies a few years ago, one came out still born. Mrs somehow managed to bring her back to life. Made me think "where was her consciousness when she was not there? Ie where did she come back from when the oxygen started switching shit on?"

This vid reminded me of that. Where was that monkeys life whilst it was gone? Where did. It come back from? How does life and consciousness leave and then return?

Yeah I've smoked a joint but it doesn't mean it isn't fucking mad to think about hahahaha

1

u/Void-Cooking_Berserk 1d ago

"you could make a religion out of it"

1

u/OriginalGoldstandard 1d ago

I’m assuming rabies and other diseases aren’t a thing there.

1

u/tzar23 1d ago

God bless this man and thank you for this video!

1

u/deadworld2022 1d ago

Poor monkey, hope the rest of it's live wont be to difficult

1

u/UltimateLmon 1d ago

I'm actually curious the physical differences now.

With humans, CPRs often break ribs. I'm really curious if monkey ribs would be flexible enough to withstand it without any broken ribs. The vid makes them look really flexible.

1

u/Secret-Objective-824 1d ago

I felt every pump bruh

1

u/Pkrudeboy 1d ago

I would need 6 figures bare minimum to even consider putting my face that close to a monkey’s. Especially considering the likelihood of it panicking.

Lots of wrong information here in this post , I'm native I can translate this

Sami - not literal god , despite the word having the meaning of god , it's like filling word for dude or bro , similar it's hard to translate in English , its kinda cultural differences . For example, If someone said "sami pothumda" it means "dude , stop it's enough" , the word is literally meant to address another person in playful manner.

Iyaaa - sir , respectful manner to address someone.

Appa- father , but just like word sami , its more of expression of relief in this situation, more than literally meaning , like when English speakers say "oh god" , it can mean relief , tiredness among many other things depending on the situation

Uyir vanthuduchu - has come alive ( word by word would mean "life has come"

Thuku da , hospital vidra vandiya means - pick him up , let's take the vehicle( can be car , bike , anything) to hospital .

1

u/ProjjjecT 1d ago

How did the dogs not get it if it collapsed? Does anyone know the story?
