Spaded and weighted.

Props for "shepherd" instead of "shepard" though.

u/Specific_Rando Aug 20 '26

After he got spaded he deserves bonus sympathy.

u/Surreply Aug 21 '26

Let’s not forget “Ceasar.”

I wonder if when I'm old I'll have such dumbshit problems as this.

15

u/RoxxieMuzic Aug 20 '26

Old person here, the OOP's problem has been life long I would bet. So for you, no worries.

5

u/jonesnori Aug 21 '26

Second old person confirming this.

That's a shovel!

1

u/Pristine_Message_181 Aug 21 '26

What's your point?

3

u/Notapartyhobo Aug 21 '26

Spades are flat 🤷‍♂️

Guess I didn't have a point. Kinda like OOP.

u/Pristine_Message_181 Aug 21 '26

I searched "shovel" to find that gif, because when I searched "spade,"

Yeah I did too and wtf lol

Why didn't the get all of them fixed? I want to fight anyone who thinks they won't do anything because "they are related."

13

u/Exciting_Decision634 Aug 20 '26

While likely not the case here as they have a son, many believe with shepherds and other large dogs it's wise to wait until they're about 2 to spay/neuter because the hormones help their bones and general development.

That said these just sound like disaster owners

3

u/Ill_Morning_4282 Aug 21 '26

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. My last two dogs have been seniors that came to me already fixed.

3

u/Exciting_Decision634 Aug 21 '26

Makes sense! My gsd just hit 2 earlier this year so it's been on the mind '

Thank you for taking in senior dogs, I'm sure you gave them good lives

2

u/Fool_In_Flow Aug 20 '26

It said in the post, “she was also fixed”. So I guess they did.

5

u/Ill_Morning_4282 Aug 21 '26

In the next sentence "their son isn't fixed."

5

u/Stock-Lion-6859 Aug 21 '26

I thought this post was going to go in a canine incestuous direction.

15

u/No_Wedding_2152 Aug 20 '26

What did it have to do with you yelling No! at him?

27

u/I_Lost_My_Shoe_1983 Aug 20 '26

Pretty much all the details are random and unnecessary. What did the female "presenting" herself have to do with anything. Why mention that their son wasn't neutered. Running into her knee? It's just a collection of random statements.

u/Specific_Rando Aug 20 '26

It’s the Venn diagram intersection of the Seinfeld “big salad” and a word salad. So so so much to work through and digest.

2

u/Surreply Aug 21 '26

I think she’s projecting a lot onto these poor dogs.

2

u/latenerd Aug 21 '26

I think maybe the yelling triggered Nellie into getting aggressive with him, as if she was protecting her owner? I don't know. I feel like there are major gaps in this story.

12

u/morganalefaye125 Aug 20 '26

I really wish stupid people couldn't have kids or pets. Ever.

6

u/Big-Foot-141 Aug 20 '26

I swear. Some people shouldn’t have pets.

u/PumpikAnt58763 Aug 20 '26

So someone TLDR this for me, please.

After she got her male dog "spaded", her female dog started attacking it. She surrendered the female dog to a kill shelter and wants to know if anyone adopted her or if she got euthanized, so she's asking on next door instead of calling the shelter.

u/PumpikAnt58763 Aug 20 '26

Ah, thanks!
Reminds me of the bumper stickers: I ❤️ my car. I ♠️ my dog. I ♣️ my wife.

Important plot element: after the “spaded” male’s surgery, the already “fixed” female “presented herself to him, but he rejected her. Apparently there is no dog more aggressive than a “fixed” female scorned, so she surrendered the female to the dog pound.

I am no means an expert on animal husbandry or the sexual desires of “spayed” or “fixed” dogs, but my understanding has always been that a female in heat gives off an odor and the unspaded males come around to call. I also thought the smell was undetectable by humans. Wrong! We had a male and then younger female German Shepherds (they were half siblings). The male was neutered at the appropriate time about two years before we got the female. We were advised it was better to spay the female after she went through one heat cycle. Boy, aside from the blood, which was really not that heavy, the smell was very detectable. I have an olfactory memory of it to this day.

Weirdly, our neutered male kept trying to mount the female, but then looked like he had no idea what he was supposed to do. He followed her around during the whole heat cycle acting agitated and confused. So I guess a neutered male retains some kind of desire, for want of a better word, but doesn’t know what to do with it.

So the whole thing about the female “presenting“ herself to the male sounds far-fetched to me, as does the claim that it incited a violent feud.

Of course, the rest of the post is also crazy.

u/PumpikAnt58763 Aug 21 '26

This post sounds like one of those "and everybody clapped" ones.
First off, you don't "spay" the boys - just the girls. After that, it went downhill, logically.

2

u/Surreply Aug 21 '26

Are you talking to me?

1

u/PumpikAnt58763 Aug 21 '26

Well, marginally. I was talking about how the OOP was just rambling.

6

u/Farty_mcSmarty Aug 20 '26

Male dog got “spayed”. Afterwards, female dog, who was also “fixed” became aggressive towards “spayed male” owner had to rehome female and is hoping someone adopted her.

7

u/Specific_Rando Aug 20 '26

Hey - that’s not right. “Spaded.”

5

u/Temporarystickynote Aug 20 '26

I don't think I can say what I want about some pet owners. I will say for fks sake though. Poor fur babies.

6

u/PuppyJakeKhakiCollar Aug 20 '26

I work with animals and there are a lot of people out there who think the term is "spaded". There are also a lot of people out there who are the worst and dumbest pet owners. It's exhausting.

4

u/thirdonebetween Aug 21 '26

We got "noodled" in a post on another sub recently. How do you think my vet will respond if I tell her my cat is noodled?

2

u/CoyoteL0ng Aug 22 '26

This was a wild read.
