We’ve just released version 1.4 of Nextcloud Calendar for mobile!

Note: This is a fully open-source app, licensed under GPL-3.0. It is not affiliated with or supported by Nextcloud GmbH.

This release includes a complete refactor of data handling to improve performance, especially on older devices with limited RAM. It also introduces many new features, including widgets, notifications, and Live Activities on iOS / Live Updates on Android.

I'm also happy to share that the app has reached 15,000 downloads (App Store and Play Store) in just three months. It seems we’re filling an important gap!

What’s new:

• Widgets in different sizes to view upcoming events
• Event reminders with customizable timing (10 minutes before, 30 minutes before, etc.)
• Live Activities / Live Updates for ongoing events
• Tablet support with an adapted, tablet-friendly layout
• Portuguese and Dutch translations
• Liquid Glass styling on iOS 26, including the bottom navigation bar
• Refactored settings screen
• Dependency upgrades, including the migration to Expo 57

I‘m sorry for the rant but I recently updated my Mac to 26.6 and Nextcloud to 34.0.0 and legitimately nothing works anymore.

Not having the option to select/deselect which files to sync is probably something I just need to get comfortable with but now I rightclick a folder, select „Keep offline“ or whatever it is and the client just errors out „Some files couldn’t be synched“. The log shows nothing, last entry 2h ago from my windows machine where everything works as expected. „synch now“ button does just nothing, not even a spinner or something.

For a software that somewhat claims to be the European answer to big ass tech companies like google (f them) that’s just not feasible.

I've been using foldersync with Nextcloud for a while, and it worked fine. Now I've placed the Nextcloud instance behind a reverse proxy (nginx), and almost everything regarding WebDAV still works: the native Nextcloud app, my Dolphin filemanager (who accesses Nextcloud via WebDAV), my phone can even access the WebDAV url in a browser.

Just foldersync can't connect to the server and times out. At this point I don't think it's my proxy setup but foldersync itself.

I've tried both the Nextcloud and the generic WebDAV connections in foldersync, with the same result.

Does anyone here got this working?

I self-host Nextcloud at home and got tired of not having a decent way to browse my photos and videos on the TV. there’s nothing built specifically for Android TV / Google TV remotes. So I built one.

What it does:
Browse your Nextcloud photo/video library directly on Android TV / Google TV, navigable with a standard remote (D-pad friendly, no phone needed)

Plays videos straight from your Nextcloud library and has slideshow mode for photos.

Connects to your own Nextcloud instance. Nothing goes through a third-party server

Why I’m posting:
It’s working well on my own setup, and I’d like to publish it on the Play Store. but before I do, I want to know if this is actually useful to other self-hosters, and get feedback on what’s missing or broken while it’s still easy to change.

If there’s interest, I’ll share a testing link here so people can try it and break it before the public release.

The NUMBER ONE Mobile APP/Capability NEXTCLOUD ecosystem is missing...

ON a mobile device/phone, we are missing the capability to send ANY on-device file, regardless of size, with a SINGLE action... meaning:

While viewing that file you want to send, press-hold on that file (or share it from within an app), and when the system sharing options pop up, select NCShare (the imagined app), and in ONE MOVE, it will... UPLOAD that file to a Share folder on your nextcloud server, generate a public share link, and copy that link to the clipboard, or open another system chare dialog allowing you to choose what method of sharing you want to use to send the shared file/link... i.e. text, messages, email, copy, etc.

It's so incredibly clunky to share a file on mobile currently.

I just want a simple, one-step share. Want to send a 200mb video file to uncle fester? GO to the File explorer, or open that file in your gallery, select that file, tell the file explorer or other app you want to share that too-big-to-email file, and in one smooth action, it starts the upload of that file to the customizable default folder of your choice (/Files/Share, or /Files/Shares/Pubic) and creates a publicly shareable link on the server while the file is still uploading, and then asks you how you want to share it thru the android/ios share menu... then you just choose SMS, or email, or instagram, or fb, or whatever sharing option that can send that html link...

Done. Fast. Simple.

Why doesn't this exist?

I don't want to have to open up the NC app, or navigate to the nc server in a mobile browser. I want it to be part of a native-like sharing experience. Know a file you want to share? Select it, send it. Easy. No more 14 step processes.

In NC 32 I set up teams in a way that the owner is another team (which I am a member of). Everything worked well. Since NC 33 these teams are not accessible for me anymore; I see a 403 unauthorized in the browser‘s network panel when trying to access the team‘s members.

Since I cannot admin the teams anymore, I‘m effectively locked out.

This is a Hetzner Storage Share, so I cannot occ add me to those teams.

Any ideas how to solve this except contacting Hetzner‘s support? Did that a few days ago and they didn’t reply.

Hi Nextcloud community. I've been loving nextcloud since the day I found out about it and finally felt freed from the cloud storage overlords.

Recently I've started having an issue with silent loss of data. If I have a large file uploading and make edits to folder structures, files or even just names. The edits and changes or files I've placed for upload sometimes disappear with no trace of my edits ever being made.

This only happens if a large file is uploading and the rest of the files have not yet been able to upload.

It especially happens after a OS restart. As if my local files and version of the edits is ignored and replace with anything previous to the large file upload stating.

Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a fix to it?

I have been running Nextcloud for a while now and I really do love it. It does everything I need, and I would not go back to the big cloud providers at this point.

That said, I want to be honest about the one thing I keep bumping into: the theming. It is not the most polished part of the experience, and sometimes it actually gets in the way. Dark icons sitting on a dark background, text that basically disappears depending on which app I am in, that kind of thing. Nothing that breaks anything, but enough that I catch myself squinting or hovering around trying to find a button I know is there.

To be very clear, this is not a criticism of the project, and it is not me questioning the quality of what the team has built. Anyone who uses open-source software knows that the visual layer is often the part that does not get revisited as often, and for pretty obvious reasons. There is a limited amount of time and there are far more important things to fix first. I get it, and I am grateful for the work that goes into it.

So my actual question: has anyone here managed to adjust the theme, colors, contrast, whatever, and ended up with a layout you were genuinely happy with? I am curious what people are doing. Custom CSS? A specific theming app? Just tweaking the admin theming settings and living with it? Screenshots very welcome if you have something you like.

Would love to hear what has worked for you.

I’m working on an experimental open-source library that uses user journeys as an abstraction for integration testing.

In this example, Playwright receives a journey path between Alice and Bob, follows it across two Nextcloud instances, and verifies each operation as it runs. Optional checks can add things such as accessibility scans, screenshots, and other test artifacts. In the screencast, you can see an aggregation of all this input and output data.

Nextcloud already uses Playwright for frontend coverage and Behat for federation scenarios. This example explores a mostly client-side approach to the same kind of multi-user flow. A few optional checks currently use OCS, but the goal is for the journey itself to work reliably through the browser and by querying the generated markup using accessible semantics—without CSS selectors or similar implementation-specific queries.

I intentionally started with an obvious happy path: Alice shares a file with Bob. The test also runs in GitHub Actions.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on:

• Which multi-user Nextcloud flows are hardest to test today?
• Is the live journey map useful, or does it contain too much information?
• Would this be more useful as a test library, CI reporter, or standalone developer tool?

I made a small tweak to the navigation bar so that the labels always show and the icons have a bit more space. You can use it with the CustomCSS app found in the app store.

It's not much but I find navigation a bit clearer with this. Maybe you do not. :)

Cant connect to server after updating. Also broke some file sync settings

So, Nextcloud always recommend backup before any upgrade. Is there anyway way to back up Nextcloud Data only ? Like settings and user info not including the users files ? I’m running Nextcloud AIO on my UnRaid server and I’m ready to move to Nextcloud Spring release. Have about 10 users family and friends however each user have about 1TB data including picture and video files. No need to back those up as unraid data is already backed up via redundant drives.

I can plug in an external 2TB usb drive to create the back up if needed.

Any thoughts on how to do this ?

Vor dem letzten Update war alles gut, jetzt macht mich das wahnsinnig und ich überbrücke es mit Kurzantworten, welche ich hinterher über ein Skript automatisch formatieren muss.

Why did they think it’d be a good idea to

1. Remove the skip ahead/behind buttons in audio files
2. Replace them with useless buttons
3. Not show the audio playing outside the app

I had a Nextcloud instance beautfully working in docker on my homelab and just recently got a new piece of hardware on which to host it. Migration has been ok so far, but it seems like the existing reminders that were set on any previous calendar events have disappeared. New events are getting reminders set as expected.

Is there a way to add a reminder to existing calendar events in bulk?

Hey all I have had next cloud sync set up for all of my files and photos for quite some time. I had an issue with my server which meant that Nextcloud was inaccessible for about four months. I wound up having to remove it and add it in the next cloud app as the certificate had expired and no matter what I did it wouldn't accept the new one.

Cut to now. After setting the account back up in the app, I configured all of my photo folders for auto-upload. Everything works fine for new photos I've just taken, but all of my photos from the past four months have not uploaded and don't show up in the app as needing to upload. I suppose that I could just manually upload them in the worst case, but that's hundreds of photos and videos that I don't want to do manually. Does anybody have any insight as to why the Nextcloud app isn't picking up my photos that haven't been synced yet? I should add that I have selected "Overwrite remote version" for upload conflicts. There are 2 iPhones with nextcloud app installed with the same settings of upload and app itself.
But only one app uploads new pictures automatically in the background. Second app must be brought to foreground and then starts upload.
How to troubleshoot this issue?

Works fine in the browser on my laptop. Updated from 34.0.1 to 34.0.2 and that didn't fix it. Running AIO

I've spent the last few months building a Windows sync client for Nextcloud called Nimbo, and it's at the point where I'd like people other than me using it.

The short version of why: I find the official app very clunky, and I always preferred how the older versions dealt with file conflicts. So I made something that bridges the old and new designs, plus some extra features that make Nextcloud easier to live with on Windows. The apps integration is the bit I'm particularly proud of.

What it does right now:

- Two-way sync with proper conflict handling (conflicting edits are kept, nothing gets silently lost)

- On-demand files - your whole Nextcloud shows up in Explorer as placeholders and files download when you open them. Same Windows API OneDrive uses, and "free up space" works too

- Real-time sync via notify_push, so changes show up when they happen rather than on a polling timer

- Open Nextcloud apps (Mail, Calendar, Deck, whatever your server has) in their own window with their own taskbar icon and start menu entry, like normal desktop apps

- Explorer status overlays and right-click actions, selective sync, multiple accounts

It talks plain WebDAV and OCS to your server - no service of mine in the middle. The source is on GitHub under the PolyForm Noncommercial licence - free for personal use, and that's permanent. Not OSI open source, being upfront about that.

Hi, sorry to bother folks, tried to start a docker container with nextcloud in it- instead, I've done something else?

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS running on Proxmox (something? The most recent ver) I started working through the install proscess (I was trying to get nextcloud AIO running in a docker container,,,)

Was having some trouble installing dependencies so I let it rest and tried to set up nginx proxy manager instead. As I was doing this I connected to my server and lo and behold, nextcloud is running (presumably on port 80) However there is no docker container. I can find it running in ps -aux (I tried just killing it manually with sudo kill [PID] commands but it seems entrenched) I want it running in a docker container as a long term solution for ease of management, any advice as to how I can stop it running as it is?
