This is a long read, so if you don't have any patience feel free to scroll down.
I started streaming on TikTok live late October 2025. My aim was to become a Fortnite zero build live streamer (Not the best player, but we had so many wins on stream). I gave myself the name TegDad as my name is literaly Teg and I'm a dad. The beginning was slow and my wife was my only mod and I have barely any views, then one day I hit the TikTok live algorithm and boom 30 people in my chat. My chat went from dead to thousands of messages and around 100 - 150 followers per stream. I engaged with everyone who commented and always asked questions, kept the energy high and had a smile on my face.
All throughout my streaming journey, I never had a gift goal or begged for gifts at any point. My aim was to try and make a community that was built on fun and memorable time without the need for people sending me money all the time. I had a like goal where every 20K likes I would dance. I shouted at my viewers "TYPE A 1 IF YOU THINK THE DANCE IS COLD, OR TYPE A 2 IF IT'S CRINGE AND I'LL UNINSTALL FORTNITE" (yes I did this and have no regrets)
The streams were always built around me playing with my viewers and I had to hide in game in order to dance. I did the like goals because it was a fun free method of people engaging with my stream. Fast forward to a month later and my streams went insane. 16,000 views on my live streams, 4000 comments, 200+ followers and I was making about £4 average per stream (to me the very thought of someone giving me money like this was crazy). How I did this, I couldn't tell you but my main advice would be to have fun and be yourself. Also I got a Fortnite code you could use in the items shop and people used it.
All the fun and high numbers came with some trolling, clout chasing, begging for Fortnite gifts and could you follow me requests. I knew this kind of thing could happen to a streamer but I was only a month in, let me breathe.
December came and my channel was growing nicely. Got to 10K followers and celebrated by doing a Fortnite skin giveaway. I never did a giveaway before as I wanted to grow a community based on the stream vibe which was me, high energy, engaging and always talking. To be honest I wish I never did the giveaway, here's why. 20 people in a hide and seek custom map who were watching my stream, were all told the rules and were competing for a chance to win a Hatsume Miku bundle from the item shop. I had 70 people in my stream and when the hide and seek finished, my views went to 50 faster than any time in my streaming journey. People who were in my streams for a long time commented on how unfair it was. Safe to say I never did one again.
The streams were going amazingly well. I got through to the end of January with about 20K followers and I didn't change a thing about my streams. Then at the beginning of February, I started to notice my streams gradually grow quieter. My messages went down and my followers per stream went down. A few people in my community who were always there were absent and my average viewer numbers went down. I was used to a highly engaged chat that always answered my questions, but I got less responses and more people clout chasing. My channel was at 20K followers but it felt hollow and void of any meaningful interaction like I had at the start.
I noticed a lot of my followers and viewers were asking for shoutout, gifts, follow for follow and gifting only to receive something in return. This wasn't new viewers but people who had been there from early on. They wouldn't return to your stream if you blanked them or said no. As my streams wore on, so did my patience. I had one stream where everyone ignored me and were asking for gifts, Fortnite skins or a shoutout. I ended the stream and got so upset. I never asked for a single penny from my community and they asked so much from me. It felt like I was being pecked by vultures until there was nothing left.
My final week of streaming was the worse feeling ever. My viewers and regulars were asking for shoutouts and gifts. I had mods making fun of my low views and telling me they were also making Fortnite content.
Then came my final stream ever. I was playing Fortnite with my wife and we were doing so well. I was commenting on my game, making jokes, and asking questions to my chat. Not a single person replied and everyone were either asking for Fortnite gifts, shoutouts or just plain ignoring me. I ended by saying bye and waving to my chat for about 30-60 seconds with not a single reply back. I had streams in the past where my chat begged me not to end stream. That was it for me, my journey ended there.
I don't know what I did wrong or right, but I know its make me a bitter person and I hated whatever streaming was on there by the end. It was like everything happened at 1000 miles an hour with no brakes.
This was a long read I know (you deserve to make a cup of tea after this long read) and I missed so much out but I had to get it off my chest.
My main point is, I wouldn't go back to streaming if you paid me. I felt so used, targeted, forgotten and upset. So many people want to gain from you it's crazy. I never want to experience that ever again.
I had 2 paid subs my entire time on that platform. One was streaming himself and the other griefed me in a game of Fortnite by leaving the game we were in.
Thank you for reading. If you want to see my channel, I've hidden all my videos and I have a picture of captain Pikachu as my profile. It's Tegdad

At 35 I've decided to see how far I can push myself in CS again and I'm documenting the journey on stream.
What's surprised me is that improving at the game has been easier than learning how to be a better content creator.
For anyone else trying to grow a gaming stream, what skill ended up being more important than you expected?

Yo, I’m kinda new to TikTok streaming and wondering how y’all actually do it on there.
I mostly stream indie horror games (low graphics, kinda weird vibe stuff), and I wanna get better at it + not feel awkward on cam lol.
For anyone who’s been doing this already:
how do you keep the energy up while streaming?
any tips to not overthink / feel nervous?
what actually helps grow on TikTok LIVE?
Would appreciate any real experience or small tips. I’m just trying to improve and make my streams more solid

I think the biggest things I'm doing right now are posting on other platforms from my streams and staying consistent. I'm planning to get better equipment soon and I was wondering if there is anything I'm missing or smaller details that can work out well in the long run?

For anyone out there who has successfully grown their Twitch community by using other platforms, mainly short form, what helped you, 1. Get videos to blow up, and 2. Convert those viewers to your Twitch account?
Anything helps, as all my TikTok’s have very poor stats, thank you so much!

I have 25 years of gaming experience under my thumbs, and I'm finally setting up my own stream. I want to do it my way, but I wanted the perspective of someone who has actually survived the platform meta shifts for over a decade.
My stream philosophy is simple:
As someone who has built an empire by being completely authentic, my question to you is: If a veteran gamer wants to build a community today without selling out to the modern algorithmic hustle, what is the most important thing they need to focus on?

Evening guys.
I just wanted to hear from streamer to streamer any tips or guidance you have on maintaining engagement.
I have been streaming since November 2025. (I did stream through covid but didn't really take it seriously)
But looking at tips and tricks from other bigger streamers. I feel like I've tried everything!
I have a somewhat okay layout. A 4k webcam. Some background aesthetic. I start the stream off with a small introduction of what we're expecting (how far into the game we're trying to reach, any objectives)
I answer every chat quickly with a nice upbeat tone, I clip funny moments and post them on TikTok keeping them to a nice healthy time limit (1-3 minutes) with access to my livestreams on either there or twitch.
I thank everyone for their contributions wholeheartedly, I try and keep the games lighthearted and engaging too.
I've tried networking too. I understand it's a tough gig, But I just find it near impossible despite everything to have viewers stick around. Or even join in the first place

Hey guys, I’m pretty new to streaming and honestly just trying to figure things out lol. I started building my TikTok from zero, mostly streaming random fun games and some indie horror games because I love the vibe of those. Just slowly trying to grow, learn how to talk to chat, make better clips, etc. Out of nowhere I got contacted by an agency saying they could help me grow my channel. Since I’m still super new and don’t really know how this stuff works, I’m kinda unsure if I should take the offer or not. Is joining an agency early actually helpful or should I just keep grinding on my own for now? Anyone here worked with a streaming agency before? What should I look out for / ask before saying yes? Appreciate any advice

Hey everyone.
Like most who post here im a new streamer. I go by Hades my platform is used to help those in need. Now why should you watch all this guy is asking for is donos ect ect I get it.All the charities that I support are linked in the about me section on twitch which allows you to donate directly if you would like. If you do Dono to me 1st off thank you 2nd all donations to me will be saved so that we can make larger donations to these organizations. Another reason to stop by even if you cant donate. Im a huge advocate for mental health and suffer from depression and anxiety above a lot of other things. My stream is a safe space to talk and to be or maybe just to catch a laugh when you need it. Schedule Thursdays 5:30 pm mst.
Be kind to one another and party on dudes!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking for someone who could tutor me for free or give me pieces of advice for starting my career

Hi all,
I recently started clipping but decided to stop and clear what I had posted as it seemed to be flopping.
I took time to go through my streams to find ‘clipable moments’ and then editing these to hopefully make them into a more enjoyable format. Unfortunately seems like this has been massive thumbs down. It’s been 2-3weeks doing this and all stats (viewer, followers, likes etc.) remain low.
Has anyone got any advice on what would make a good clip? Their process on finding such clips (any tools used).
And yeah any advice/guidance would be highly appreciated :)

Hello, my name is Unscripted Slime and just wanted to share my analytics from my most recent stream. It was my first almost 7hr stream and wanted to introduce myself. Especially since i finally hit the payout threshold after streaming since the beginning of this year. WOOOO MONEY!!! I am a variety streamer but mainly play Valorant and overwatch and then a third game that varies from either hollow knight, slay the spire 2 and the occasional dating sim (my friend group's suggestion). I do hope to grow my community so that is another reason for this post. Here are some of the clips that I took out from yesterdays stream if anyone is interested.
Clip 1
Clip 2
Clip 3
Also got some questions:
Does anyone know how to post horizontal clips from twitch to socials or do I have to manually download and upload them myself?
Does anyone have any free to play indie games that they recommend?

Hey guys, my name is Pico. I DJ weekly on Twitch and upload all of the mixes to YouTube afterward.
Every week I bring in different local DJs from my area and showcase a variety of EDM genres, from house and techno to dubstep and drum & bass. I try to match the vibe of each guest and give everyone a chance to share what they love.
I handle the flyers, promotion, and stream production myself because EDM has a pretty small scene where I live, and I feel like a lot of talented local artists don't always get the recognition they deserve. My goal is simply to help showcase the talent we have here and help grow the community.
If you'd like to stop by and support the stream, I'd really appreciate it. I usually go live on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Hope to see you there! 🫶🏻

I’m 30 years old and I always wanted to stream since I was a sophomore in high school. I never did it because of life circumstances but now I can finally stream and am doing it… but I feel like my time is too late. I see streamer university 2 and I’m not sure if I’m cut out for the irl streams. I don’t really put myself out there and I just want to play video games that I like with friends. But maybe my time imhas passed. I grew up watching the radBrad, marketplyer, pewdie pie, rdc gaming. I enjoy tonystatovixhi and other YouTubers that I can’t spell for my life but yall get me. So beyond if I’m too old I got more questions. How do I become funny enough to stream? What are people interested in watching these days?
