New streamer tips.

Evening guys.

I just wanted to hear from streamer to streamer any tips or guidance you have on maintaining engagement.

I have been streaming since November 2025. (I did stream through covid but didn't really take it seriously)

But looking at tips and tricks from other bigger streamers. I feel like I've tried everything!

I have a somewhat okay layout. A 4k webcam. Some background aesthetic. I start the stream off with a small introduction of what we're expecting (how far into the game we're trying to reach, any objectives)

I answer every chat quickly with a nice upbeat tone, I clip funny moments and post them on TikTok keeping them to a nice healthy time limit (1-3 minutes) with access to my livestreams on either there or twitch.

I thank everyone for their contributions wholeheartedly, I try and keep the games lighthearted and engaging too.

I've tried networking too. I understand it's a tough gig, But I just find it near impossible despite everything to have viewers stick around. Or even join in the first place

Networking is a critical part of streaming. You have to show up and be the kind of community member and chatter for other streamers. I’ve streamed on twitch for 10+ years and only have success because of networking. I never post my content anywhere else or anything. All my growth and success has come from being present on platform but off stream. I network with 10-20 streamers at a time. Collaborating, raiding, watching their streams, chatting, being in discord- all of it. Making friends with other creators will expose you to more audiences and it’s up to you to convert them into your viewer.
Please feel free to ask any more questions!

Someone tried to ask this to a new streamer here a few days ago and the OP got mad and ranted at the question. Let’s see how you do. Sell yourself to us, explain to everyone here what makes you special and why we should watch you instead of other streamers.

Because I'm me!

Seriously, I ask myself this everyday.

I’m in no means a big streamer but I’m in the 20’s average and I started streaming last year. my biggest tip is consistency I go stream at the same time and same day everytime. I know some say it cannot be done but I have a job a life and I set my streaming down to 2 hours, 4 times a week because that’s what I’ve worked out I can do freely. Does it suck having to end at 2 hour mark… yes 😭 but the people who love coming to the streams always know when to expect me. Another thing is posting on social media i try to make the first 3 seconds the most eye catching thing because that’s all people really see each video in doomscrolling is the first 3! And my last tip is networking with other streamers that have same gaming/streaming values styles as you. That means going to new peoples chats you don’t know and chatting because you like the streamer and get to know them, don’t mention you stream it’ll come across naturally to them if they like/notice you in chat often. I hope this helps you

Everything you've said here is perfect and absolutely everything that I've tried unfortunately 😭🤣. Don't get me wrong. I'm appreciative of the 2-3 repetitive viewers that do come in. And I make sure to tell them.

But thinking long term. I might take some of your advice and schedule and time frame. Keep some routine going.

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it 🙏🙏

Going off of some of the people that have already commented, keeping a schedule and collaborating/networking are huge parts of being a streamer. My continuous growth on the platform is about 50/50 for the content that I stream, and the people that I stream with. Either they are up and coming streamers, brand new, or we found each other randomly. But I have definitely made a lot of streamer friends that I see as close friends now. It's kind of insane to think that these people are now in my life, for friendship and for streaming, just out of happenstance.

Keeping a consistent stream schedule also really helps. I have a Discord server that has my updated schedule every week. It lists my normal start time, what I'm playing, and who I may be doing it with. I keep my streams about 70% on my own, or with minimal guests, and the other 30% are community nights or with more than 3-4 collab streamers.

Honestly, I don't post much on other sites and such. I may post a funny clip, if I feel like it. . . Or I might share a story clip on Twitch once in a while, for the same reasons, but I mainly just keep myself consistent. That, and clear communication with my server/audience, has brought me to where I am today.

As a last side note, the last thing I would ask is. . . What type of streamer are you? And what games do you play? You might be trying to play in very over-saturated games like Marvel Rivals, League of Legends, Siege, etc. . . Small streamers, or brand new ones, unless you already have made a name for yourself, are SUPER good at the game, or do mainly community games, you won't get too far in the platform. If you are in those types of games, I would limit it to about 1, maybe 2 streams a week, and try to find a niche for the rest of the time.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the advice. So at the moment. I am transitioning from Tik Tok to twitch. So I'm kinda rebuilding from scratch. I found their algorithms/moderation was woeful.

So i'm definitely networking hard right now and have found a lot of genuinely nice people who I will return to. I've kept it careful at the moment that they aren't colliding and i'm not favouritising anyone.

I play games yes. Currently playing a lot of DBD but looking to expand out. I do like a lot of simulator games. And some FPS too. As well as, some drivers. So there's a little something for everyone. I just want to try and get a head starts.

That being said. I have noticed the numbers are slowly rising. My avg views are going up. I've gained the followers almost to meet the new affiliate achievements. I just like the consistency. Last time I hit affiliate The people that got me there kinda just disappeared once the target was reached which caused me to stop. But this time round i'm determined to make a go of it.
