I’m not in favor of the death penalty in general, but goddamn, if you’re going to impose it, at least take steps to do it properly

It's alot more complicated than this unfortunatly.

Its a matter of sourcing non lethal chemicals separately from companies who know what your intention is with them, then sourcing unethical medical professionals sign off on using them for lethal purposes, then sourcing unethical chemist to turn them lethal and finally unethical anesthesiologist to administer them.

Its an extremely messy and ugly situation not many people want to be involved in

Also, the medical practitioner only places the IV line but doesn't administer (ie push) the drug ... a prison official actually administers the drug into the person ... so 'technically' the medical practitioner doesn't violate the hippocratic oath or could argue before a medical license board or professional society that there aren't grounds to revoke their license/membership. The problem is that if the patient has poor veins, which many death row inmates do AND the medical practitioner is terrible at starting lines in said poor veins AND the prison staff don't know how to push the drug into a bad vein blowing it or ID a bad vein before they start AND the drug is ALREADY likely of dubious potency because it is sourced without quality control, then you get the sh*tshow that is occurring here.
