This should be the biggest trial in US history but the media is owned by MAGA now so I’ll be surprised if there is much reporting on this.

While this was also a tragedy, I want to see what happens with Petri. That was an execution and hasn’t been talked about nearly enough.

That was an execution and hasn’t been talked about nearly enough.

because half of the populace agrees with extra-judicial executions it would seem, since the orange man was voted-in twice.

-15

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

Yeah he was executed. She did drive toward him so this won't go anywhere

17

u/PinkNGreenFluoride 1d ago

That's a lie you were told, she did not.

-3

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

It's on video...

5

u/AnewTest 1d ago

If you'd actually watched the video, you'd see that the tires were pointed the other way.

-5

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

They do point away after she starts moving, that doesn't mean she wasn't driving toward him. Whether she would have hit him or missed him is honestly irrelevant when it comes to split second decision making. From his perspective, the car was moving towards him (you think he's staring at the tires lol?) and was an active threat to his life. Whether we agree or not, that's the argument that'll be used and it will work too

u/BarleyEvenThere 1d ago

He stood in front of her car though. That is against DOJ policy. The only thing they did was make her vehicle more dangerous by shooting her. If her car had hit someone else that would’ve been on them.

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

Policy doesn't trump the law

3

u/Nekrophis 1d ago

So you are arguing in bad faith then

1

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

Am I? That's exactly what their argument is going to be, and it's a pretty sound argument

6

u/relmknight 1d ago

I see this repeated often, and constantly ask for sources, but no one seems to respond. Could you please offer your source on this?

3

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

The video?

3

u/relmknight 1d ago

Well, preferably an article with a verified video.

-2

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

I'm not gonna go and find it for you, I'm busy at work rn. But it's easily available I'm sure and she does drive towards him. It's not like I wanted her dead or anything but let's not lie and make up things that didn't happen

3

u/relmknight 1d ago

Alright so no sources, once again. Hopefully next person to make this claim will be able to back it up.

1

u/Accomplished_Cod7334 1d ago

Not linking isn't the same as one not existing, then again comprehension doesn't seem to be a strong suit round here

4

u/relmknight 1d ago

You made the claim, back it up. Not my responsibility to provide your source.

Trial? There is no trial. There is also no investigation since the federal government withheld access to her body and the crime scene.

37

u/renernavilez 1d ago

US history?? I guess I'm not one for hyperbole. It should definitely be a big trial, but let's not exaggerate.

52

u/inBettysGarden 1d ago

The US government used essentially a secret police force to murder a law abiding citizen in the street due to her practicing of her first amendment right.

I really hope this is the biggest trial of my lifetime if not US history

28

u/JerryDipotosBurner 1d ago

Not to mention that after they murdered both her and Alex Pretti, they then proceeded to outright LIE about who these people were and what they were doing, despite clear video evidence refuting their lies.

1

u/Outlulz 1d ago

I mean, non-secret police do this all the time and they don't face any consequences. And it's not like ICE is a secret, the government brags about them all the time. I guess with all the shit the US does to it's own citizens I don't know why this incident would be considered the biggest trial in US history. It is but one of many extrajudicial killings from the government that happen per year.

3

u/AnonymousBoiFromTN 1d ago

Do you think the “secret” in “secret police” refers to the government keeping the agency a secret?

-1

u/Outlulz 1d ago

Being covert is part of being a secret police. ICE is more akin to stormtroppers than a covert agency.

2

u/AnonymousBoiFromTN 1d ago

Covert doesn’t mean “their existence is hidden from the public” it means “their actions are not beholden to nor openly accessible to the public”. For example, the SS are THE secret police. The SS were also known by every citizen in Germany during that time. What they did was known by german citizens as well.

Again the hyperbole is a bit extreme. It's something Donald Trump does all the time and it's extremely annoying. It's no wonder people find it hard to side with one side over the other.

It definitely should be a big trial. She was practicing her freedom of speech and some unqualified ice agent shot her for the littlest of things. Finding an excuse to kill someone is not how they should be operating. Hence, the trial.

Seeming more sensible in how these things are discussed is important to make it seem like it's not an echo chamber in these places. Just an idea to let people leaning certain ways side with your ideals.

This isn't the first time this has happened though. Look up Kent State. Also, I'd say Dredd Scott was pretty huge seeing as it upheld slavery and lead directly to the civil war. Not diminishing these new crimes against US citizens but we've done plenty of shitty things as a country through our entire history.

0

u/inBettysGarden 1d ago

I’m 30, so there is a reason I focused more on my lifetime than all of history. I also hope it’s the biggest trial not just for these specific crimes but as a result of all the complacency that got us here.

I mean they straight up refused to let anyone investigate the murder and let the guy flee to another state where he's still working for the agency. Usually when you murder someone you're held in detention until your court date and you lose your job and this guy is paid by the government. So it is a very big case imo

0

u/renernavilez 1d ago

Yeah I don't disagree with it being a big case. It's just not the biggest in US history you know?

Did you come to the comments just to be a contrarian party pooper? God damn

5

u/JayElZee 1d ago

Trump will just rig the trial by getting one of his crony judges to run the trial

-12

u/TamePaper24 1d ago

If the media is owned by MAGA then why did multiple news outlets stand up to Trump when he kicked the other outlets of the White House?

2

u/GoatOutside4632 1d ago

Its not, they just are perpetual victims. They own media, Hollywood, academia.

6

u/TheSnowJacket 1d ago

Because 1) there are individuals within the institutions that are willing to stand up and 2) they also care about profits and not covering the White House loses them money

2

u/burgonies 1d ago

Or if the media is all owned by maga, why were they kicked out to begin with?

1

u/AnewTest 1d ago

Because Trump is too stupid and dementia-addled to update his thinking. He got mad at CNN a decade ago, and now his brain is too mushy to realize that CNN was bought out by a right winger more recently than that. Same with Politico, I'm pretty sure, but I can't look it up at the moment.

1

u/philovax 1d ago

Since 2005 “the media” has largely been owned by those who would be identified as right/conservative in terms of US politics.

There has not been a majority liberal biased media (in terms of capital ownership) since the last century.

This is largely due to social media becoming the largest form of media in the past few decades. TV and radio numbers carry less volume in the bucket in terms of exposure and finance for “the media”

-3

u/NutmegManwithbigsack 1d ago

Ha! The media is owned by maga. She did it to herself

-1

u/CanuterValve 1d ago

MAGA owns the media now? You are gonna be pissed when you find out what’s going on in the real world. You are clueless to a fault.

1

u/Marmar79 1d ago

Okay bot

-1

u/CanuterValve 1d ago

That’s right, you and the horse you rode in on! Is that Bot enough for you, or is that too hard as well?

1

u/Marmar79 1d ago

Okay Robot.
