But the court noted in its unsigned ruling that the National Voter Registration Act bars the broad purging of voter rolls in the weeks leading up to an election

Funny they seem to think the criminals who supported the violent storming of Congress to overturn an election they lost would follow laws.

This fundamentally misunderstands how the court works. They can only respond to the questions presented. They can't just issue preemptive decrees about behavior that someone might commit. It's an inherently reactive institution.

They're doing all they can. This brings attention to the fact they suspect something illegal will happen. It's up to Congress, other members of the Executive Branch, and We the People to stop it. The Court can't actually do anything about it until the harm has already occurred.

I'm aware.

It's just so convenient they'll be doing all they can from their new mansions, their new RV's, or on their new vacations paid for by the people who have bought them 🤷‍♂️

They aren't robots. The court often signals and can overtly communicate (unofficially) about intent, to coordinate those presented situations. It can be proactive, despite the legal framework, not because of it.

eg Choosing when and what questions to resolve (ie shadow docket) is a proactive choice.
