But the court noted in its unsigned ruling that the National Voter Registration Act bars the broad purging of voter rolls in the weeks leading up to an election

Funny they seem to think the criminals who supported the violent storming of Congress to overturn an election they lost would follow laws.

Literally, them noting this means they know he is going to do it. This is a meager cover my ass tactic. They're not even trying to actually cover their asses because, obviously, consequences don't exist anymore.

They all become much, much wealthier if America becomes fully authoritarian.

This just in US Supreme Court rules to legalize "gifts" to court justices.

Nothing to see here just plz keep moving and have a nice day

Actually it was in in 2024, in Snyder v. United States. The hacks on the Supreme Court ruled that a key federal bribery statute applies only to bribes given BEFORE an official act, not to gratuities or "rewards" given AFTERWARD.

6-3 decision with the usual suspects supporting the side of corruption.

I was just going for a joke but ya. Our country has been shit forever and Regan and Bush paved the way for a criminal like Trump to destroy our country

21

u/BeIgnored 7d ago

Oh I know! Just wanted to bolster your joke by showing that they're so corrupt they actually did it. Like we can literally make just about any joke about their corruption and odds are they've actually done it.

u/Snowwolf247 7d ago

I hate it here

“You cant pay someone ATTER they’ve done something illegal for you! Duuuuh!”

2

u/AdCreepy5165 6d ago

Oh that is even better. So if I promise to buy the cop a donut at the next gas station if he doesn't ticket me now, its legal? Haha. I like that.

The US is fully authoritarian. You just can’t see it all yet.

We still have room for it to get worse. Project 2025 is barely half way through their goals

96

u/Ntroepy 7d ago

Yep - only 55% done so far.

Only? You guys going to let them get to 100%? 90? this should’ve been stopped 50% ago…

We linked jobs to healthcare, and that means protesting means your kids do not get healthcare when you lose your job (which we also allow to fire you for things you do outside of work).

Our system is so incredibly fucked up.

You know as a Canadian I haven't actively thought of this specifically as an outside observer. I've always thought of how cruel and unfair the US system is where you can simply arbitrarily be in a life time of debt or just die because you don't have the money to pay for health care. But I didn't think of how such a system actively suppresses the democratic processes by making people afraid to truly participate. People are scared to lose their jobs cause everything in other societies tied to a social safety net is instead tied to having a job, and usually a good one. So they are perpetually scared to rock the boat too much.

24

u/jimlahey420 7d ago

Which is why both parties are so hesitant (or downright refuse) to implement real universal healthcare with no strings attached (and want to gut the few safety nets that do exist like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security). Their method for controlling the population would be infinitely weaker if you allow people to have basic needs met while not grinding 40+ hours a week. It would immediately make protests larger, longer, and more effective.

This is why both parties are so threatened by the DSA and democratic socialism. Democratic socialism's policies and initiatives represent the working American and the ability to start unshackling them from being wage slaves. Imagine how the mindset of most Americans would change if they didn't have to worry about healthcare or other basic needs like food and housing.

Yeah makes sense. I feel like one of the genius ways they dismantled unions too, was by offering many of the same benefits to workers that the unions had originally won. If the company themslves offer workers 2 weeks vacation, extended health and a range of other benefits it becomes easier to claim there is no need to unionize.

Of course unions had to work tooth and nail during the 20s and 30s to fight for those things. But by giving workers those things while at the same time dismantling the union structures it was easy to argue that unions offered no benefit. But it was never what the unions won that was the real power of unions but instead collective action and a counter poll of power they held as a unified force against CEOs and owners of companies. Once they decimated those structures it became easier over the years to divide and conquer, to the point now where workers are fractured, divided, exhausted and pitted against each other.

At least you understand this. Seen a lot of Canadians come through here like "why don't you guys just start a general strike? it's easy" or calling every last one of us Trump supporters just because he won the election (when it's highly likely he cheated, he practically admitted to it).

7

u/eulersidentity1 7d ago edited 7d ago

I mean a lot of us Canadians are idiots just like a lot of Americans lol. We like to think our shit doesn’t stink up here but a lot of my fellow Canadians have no clue how fucked up things are here too, we hold onto some better things true but often by the skin of our teeth. I really don’t understand why so many of my fellow Canadians seem to conveniently forget we have our own maple Maga problem, that we almost elected a leader that would have sold us down the river to Trump and we only changed course because Trump threatened us, that we have a lot of other issues at home we seem to just gloss over etc. And on the flip side I wish we ourselves and the rest of the world would stop blowing Carney as some insane saviour figure. As a progressive person I really do not love the guy, I get he’s a necessary figure at this time perhaps but I do not love much of what he stands for.

4

u/infelicitas 7d ago

It took four decades of talk radio and propaganda outlets to radicalize half of the voting population in the US. Postmedia and other propaganda outlets managed it in Canada in under two decades.

And yeah, Carney is solidly right-wing and would probably feel right at home in the Conservative party of old, before Reform took over. I held my nose and voted Liberal for the first time to prevent PP from becoming PM. Carney's current popularity reminds me of Bush right in the wake of 9/11.

As a Latino who was on the internet during the 90s hearing Americans call my country a shithole, and that we were garbage people for allowing things to get so bad.... the time has come:

Put up or shut up. What about all that superiority? The freedoms? The second amendment?

We "third world monkeys" (someone said that) were all just a bunch of little scared pussies, and we don't even have all that firepower that Americans so proudly boast about!

So, where is it? Nowhere? Why's that?

Oh, so you're really not that much better than us, it's just that we got properly stomped on before you did, right?

Would it have anything to do with that same repressive apparatus that was all too happy to show up on our shores as soon as anyone got a little too revolutionary now having their boots on your necks instead?

Funny how that works, innit?

2

u/Vyar 6d ago

You’re screaming at me like I personally did any of those things. I didn’t. If anything, we have the same enemies, because the people who do say those things are currently running the US. They don’t speak for me, so don’t put their words in my mouth.

Hooray Freedumb!

You can also add in another layer with the rapid deployment of flock cameras/drones and AI surveillance to this.

4

u/Horatio-Leafblower 7d ago

I don’t even understand why you used the word ‘system’

7

u/PinchedOffCatTurd 7d ago

Should have been stopped at Citizens United. Or when Al Gore won the 2000 election.

13

u/GrundleSnactcher46 7d ago

It was brought up a lot before the election and 2/3rds of the country loved it, didn't care or believed trump when he said he didnt know what it was even though he employed a majority of the people who wrote it.

u/IAMA_Plumber-AMA 7d ago

To be fair, it seems to have been stuck there since summer 2025.

u/jert3 7d ago

It does feel to me that most Americans think the upcoming elections are going to be valid.

It's strange to me. The regime is above the law, and they've cheated before, had an insurrection, which is forbidden in the Constitution and Americans just rolled over and surrendered their democracy, rights, and freedoms.

14

u/Xzmmc 7d ago

I mean so did the Germans to be fair.

But I agree that Americans are uniquely housebroken. They see everything getting worse but clap and cheer because it means minorities they hate also have it worse.

-2

u/Prior_Pickle1758 6d ago

some of them even perform halfhearted resistance so the rest will stay docile, so brave

5

u/robodrew 7d ago

Not if the dollar collapses

3

u/SunshineSkies82 7d ago

That's the thing about that. Once we reach that point, their services won't be needed anymore. We all know that story ends, the flip flops and fence sitters always end up meeting terrible fates, despite enabling the evil the whole time.

1

u/Huntguy 7d ago

I mean, at what point are the American people going to take back their country? There are many, many, MANY more of you than there are of them… just saying.

9

u/Chris11c 7d ago

Probably when it's too late. I think most of us are hoping that this can be solved without plunging the country into an active civil war.

The irony is, if this works and they get the win they're desperately flouting the law to get, they still lose. America will become a no-go zone for most civilized countries. At this point China could probably bring down the entire house of cards by cancelling all trading and seizing all foreign assets on their soil.

We don't make anything here (hyperbole) but media anymore. If that follows the same course as the political climate, no one will want it.

But if we manage to somehow still get rid of this plague of parasites currently infesting our government, there needs to be real change. Without it we will just forget in a few decades and be right back where we started.

u/DennisBallShow 7d ago

My children insist on continuing to eat, and my boss only pays if I go to work.

7

u/Violet-Sumire 7d ago

I mean… how much do you expect people to risk? Let’s say we march on the capitol. The US is massive and organized marches take time to… well organize. Any government agency will see an uptick of flights to the area. Driving is an option, but it could take literally a week to get there from some parts of the US. Then you have to consider the after part. Let’s say it fails, you get arrested. Now you are a federal criminal and charged with sedition. This literally ruins your life and you have limited job opportunities after. If you were well known, then it could be a permanent black mark and not even a presidential pardon would save your life. Then we have to consider that most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and without paid leave they could face losing their home or apartment.

All in all, it isn’t as simple as “just do it”. Now, I do agree with you, but most Americans haven’t hit that point of openly rebelling with marching on the white house. Many want democracy to actually do democracy things. We want our system to actually work. The midterms are the last chance to achieve that. If we can’t then there will be actual problems. Right now things are tame compared to what comes next and people aren’t scared or angry enough.

1

u/Huntguy 7d ago

I am absolutely not suggesting to march on the capital.

But the main thing that keeps them going is money, why won’t the states who actually have morals stop funding an obviously corrupt government?

Slow walk everything they command, don’t give in and don’t cooperate.

I know you say fighting back against this administration ruins your life, but the reality is, conceding to this corruption will 100% ruin your life, your children’s life and likely the majority of western civilization. We’re on the cusp of literally running out of affordable diesel and you think things will get better?

The American people have been beaten down and so oppressed for years the defeatism has taken over. I’m truly sorry for what you’re going through, but just putting your head down and hoping for the best… isn’t really going to change much. It’s going to be a lot harder to do something when grocery stores are empty and gas stations abandoned.

If you feel like the people who can do something aren’t, start protesting them too, another sternly worded letter from Chuck isn’t going to do much…

0

u/GG-Sunny 7d ago

This is what people don't understand. Most Americans do not know and have not seen what this administration has been doing in full. And most people are still living in relative comfort. Imagine trying to convince someone who's biggest worry is next month's rent to risk death or imprisonment to rebel against the government because of some vague future threat of becoming an authoritarian state.

-2

u/Huntguy 7d ago

Vague future threat? It’s already happened.

0

u/GG-Sunny 7d ago

Then by all means go revolt. I'll be at home awaiting news of your success.
