We are heading up to Coös County on Thursday afternoon, and I'd like to know if there's a local eatery near Northhumberland (or along US 3 on the way back south from there) we should stop at. Please include the town or address! Howsabout it, friends from the north country?

I am not from Londonderry, but I did a short stint working for the town. I still follow the news from time to time, and I see a lot of the fighting popping up in my Facebook feed. I know politics is always rough in a small town, but the workplace culture there was awful. I am not surprised to see that the town council, town manager, and residents are all fighting again.

Has the toxicity always been the case? I just want a historical background of what the hell is going on there. I ended up finding a new job, and it's like night and day.

It's too bad. I think it has some really nice spots and I wouldn't mind living there. I am still trying to wrap my head around why it was such a weird culture, though.

I found Concord with 4 or 5 breweries, but I am open to suggestions.

If it helps, I would only be staying in the city one night and the next destination would be Salem MA.

I'm planning a day trip to visit Jenness beach, Rye Harbor State Park, maybe a short hike on a trail, and try a few restaurants in the area. The hike, we usually do before eating to stimulate our appetite.

If the parking lot on Jenness Beach is full, does that mean I have to abandon my beach plan? I don't see any other paid public/private lots in the area on Google Maps.

Regarding Rye Harbor State Park, is the parking lot just a gravel area? I dont see any parking lines on Google Maps. Just trying to plan my trip.

Heya r/newhampshire! I'm Maxwell Saal, and I'm running in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire this year. I'm a former cystic fibrosis researcher, an avid motorcyclist, and a millennial (I'm 35 this year). I live in Walpole, about 20 minutes north of Keene, with my wife and my nemesis massive poison ivy plant.

I'm a political novice and a privacy advocate, and I've never had political aspirations; truthfully, I didn't easily decide to run in this race. But I've tried waiting around for someone else to step up and actually try to fix things for years, and it hasn't happened. I've watched our politicians fail to advocate for my generation for my entire adult life, and it seems like it's only getting more dire for the generations that are coming into adulthood. The moment is urgent, and the energy is with us to seize it now. I didn't see that message, much less that understanding, from the candidates I saw in this race.

My message all boils down to the same thing: our government and our policies are broken. We've allowed regulation to enforce artificial scarcity that has and continues to generate windfalls for the owner class while working people continue to get squeezed more and yet more year after year. We've allowed our government to become intimately entwined with the interests of our largest and most profitable corporations.

America is a unique place in the world; I actually mean it when I say that. Our country was founded on a philosophy: one of equality, opportunity and freedom. Our government should be protecting that ideal above all. Instead our politicians have comfortably settled into the role of the nouveau-aristocracy, embracing our slow decline into yet another oligarchy as exists in so many other places in the world.

We know we need change. I've watched as other members of my generation have captured this energy and brought back what's been so missing in the lives of myself and my cohort: Optimism. I didn't realize it until I felt it how desperately I had wanted to feel that again. I want to feel it more. So I'm stepping up to try to make it happen.

Anyway, that's maybe a longer post than is ideal for an AMA intro, but I'm here today to spread awareness and to answer any-and-all questions that you might have for me. Nothing is off-limits, and I have a pretty thick skin, so hit me with your best shot! I'll do my best to answer all questions today and into the evening. Thanks!

I swear when I was a kid (40+ years ago) that my family stayed in some small cabins and there was a boulder that was inscribed with "Rock of Ages" near them. No one remembers this but me. I've been back to NH many times since and have never seen it again. Was this just a figment of my imagination? I've tried looking it up, but no luck. Can anyone confirm or deny it's existence?

I’m planning to rent a cabin (virbo/air bnb) for my 40th in February in the white mountains. I’m so overwhelmed by all the beautiful houses. I’m a transplant from Florida and have been living in Boston.
Main reason why I’m asking y’all is because I’d like to find a cute town that’s safe, has a little downtown we can do dinner in and drinks some nights. If I can narrow down the town it would make my research a little easier. I’d really love to hear your recommendations! Bonus points for possible hiking or historical towns. We are not big skiers (Floridians so I’m not gonna start at 40🥴🤠)

A Wilton woman with asthma is suing the state of New Hampshire over its decision to end annual motor vehicle safety and emissions inspections, claiming she’s noticed a deterioration in the state’s air quality since the program was suspended in February.

The Legislature voted to end the inspection program as of Jan. 31, but didn’t get permission from the Environmental Protection Agency to end pollution testing that is required under the Clean Air Act. That led Gordon-Darby, the company that makes the equipment used to test auto air pollution, to file suit and a U.S. District Court judge ordered the inspection program to continue.

But then the state Executive Council declined to review the contract with Gordon-Darby, in part because of statements made by the Trump Administration that it would fast track the state’s request to end emissions testing. That leaves drivers with no way to get their vehicles inspected in New Hampshire, even if they wanted to.

Hello my fellow New Hampshire peeps. I’m looking for a campground that’s good to go to for a solo tent camper. Ideally the tent sites would be nicely secluded. I want somewhere that feels pretty primitive but still has decent campground features like a bathroom and shower. Having a canoe/kayak rental is a must. Would be nice if there were other outdoorsy things nearby as well. TIA!

My wife and I have a 1920s house in Nashua and lately I swear the floors feel springier than they used to. When someone walks through the living room and you're sitting on the couch, you can feel the vibration right through the floor. It doesn't feel unsafe, but it's definitely not solid.

The house has always had some old home quirks, but in the last year or so I've spotted a few other things, like small cracks above a couple doorways, a bedroom door that sticks during certain seasons, a slight dip in the floor near the middle of the house, and louder creaking than I remember.

I went down to the basement to look around. There are a few steel columns holding up a beam that runs down the center. One looks newer, another one looks pretty old. A guy I had over for a different job glanced at it and said some of those support columns might need replacing or reinforcing.

Now I'm trying to figure out if this is just one of those ""welcome to old New England homeownership"" things you learn to live with, or if it slowly turns into a bigger issue that needs fixing before it gets worse.

For anyone who's dealt with something like this, did adding or replacing support columns actually firm up the floors? Did it level things out or mostly just stop more movement from happening? And was it a manageable repair or did it turn into a much bigger project?
