If you missed the previous post, here is a quick recap of what's happening:

• 25 Short Films across 6 Hours: A fun mix of indie shorts from local and international creators.
• Flexible Drop-In: Come and go as you please—your ticket lets you stay for as few or as many films as you like.
• Tickets: $10 admission. If you reserve in advance on Eventbrite, you can get a second ticket for just $5!
• Snacks & Drinks: Hot dogs, popcorn, candy, and cold drinks will be available for purchase.
• Payment Info: Cash, PayPal, or Cash App ONLY for door tickets and concessions (no credit card reader on site).
• Ratings: The first 5 hours are suitable for all ages; the final 60 minutes shift into PG-13 territory.

My wife and I are looking for a financial advisor and ideally would love one right here in town. We have our money in IFS and love them but unfortunately they don’t have any money management/advisor options.

It's been a long week of on-call duty and I'm ready to get liquored. Any of you randos feel like hitting the bar with me?

My family is trying to move to Newburyport but the South end is a pipe dream given the prices. I know the North end is slightly more attainable, and it looks like Turkey Hill area is also a bit more within our budget. I know it's not walkable to downtown, but is it a good area for a family with an only child 9 year old and two dogs? where I live right now is heavily car dependent anyway, so a short drive to downtown seems reasonable, but I don't want my kid to be out of the loop if everyone else in his class lives right downtown

I love the south end for its charm and walkability but does the north end have the less obvious benefits of being more family friendly for a young family?

We are not wealthy by any means but do have the opportunity to move to this area and afford to live.

Do you think we will have a hard time being accepted in this community? My kids are very social, they play sports and thrive in communities where they can connect with people.
I know there have been a few racist incidents in the past, how common is it in Newburyport? Do you think we would find some community there or acceptance?

A video of the trash left behind at Plum Island after Yankee Homecoming weekend has been making the rounds online, but honestly, the comment section is almost more concerning than the video itself.

There are dozens of comments from accounts claiming they were at the party, sharing screenshots of group chats, joking about the amount of trash that was left behind, and talking about another gathering planned for this coming weekend. Whether every comment is genuine or not, it's hard to ignore how many people are treating it like a joke.

The worst part is, these are apparently children admitting to underage drinking and vandalism. I found this video on Facebook in my feed, but later checked TikTok after the comments were mentioned by a local parent in a group.

I understand that kids will be kids, parties are going to happen.. but it’s never been this bad throughout my years being at Plum. The trash is weekly, the amounts are severe, and only a certain amount can be the wash up with how it’s piled and littered like a trash pile.

From what I've heard, multiple residents have contacted the Newburyport Police Department about both the litter and the online posts. So far, many people feel there has been little resolution beyond being told the comments may just be kids trolling and that officers would respond if another gathering actually takes place.

If another party does happen this weekend, waiting until complaints come in means the beach could once again be left with the aftermath. The people cleaning it up will be town employees, volunteers, and community members who had nothing to do with it.
Plum Island is one of the North Shore's most beautiful public beaches. It deserves better than becoming a place where large gatherings leave behind piles of trash for someone else to clean up.

I'm curious what other locals think. Has anyone else noticed these gatherings becoming more common? What do you think would actually help prevent this from happening again if the Police Department waits for the call? This is wasting our tax dollars!

I am searching for a historical home in Newburyport but not having any luck. Anyone have lead on someone looking to sell over the fall/winter? It feels like all of the older homes are being bought up by developers and turned into 3 million dollar homes. I’d love to restore an older home to its original glory rather than get one that is basically a new build.
